Abstract

Child-Friendly Schools (CFS) are formal and non-formal education units that are safe, clean, healthy, and environmentally friendly. Schools guarantee, fulfill and respect children's rights and protect them from violence and discrimination. This child-friendly school model has proven effective in protecting children's rights, preventing discrimination, violence, and other unwanted actions, and developing students' potential. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to determine the implementation of the child-friendly school program at Muhammadiyah Elementary School in South Tangerang. Data collection in this study was conducted by conducting interviews with school principals and teachers, observing the teachers' and students' activities while at school, and studying school written documentation. To increase the trust, researchers conducted triangulation by examining field observation notes, written documents, and interview transcripts. Based on the study's findings and the discussion of the results, it was evident that Muhammadiyah Elementary School in South Tangerang has successfully implemented a child-friendly school program, despite needing to be officially designated. The school fulfills at least four of the six indicators required for implementing child-friendly schools, as outlined in PPPA Regulation 8 of 2014. These indicators include having a child-friendly school policy; incorporating child-friendly learning approaches; providing training for teachers and education administration staff on child rights; and ensuring child-friendly infrastructure and facilities are in place.

Abstract

Extreme religious understanding is one of the potentials that can hinder a harmonious religious life. Islamic religious education at universities has a significant role in shaping moderate attitudes. Multicultural Islamic Religious Education based on local wisdom aims to integrate the concept of multiculturalism by adopting local wisdom SILAS. This qualitative analytical research was conducted by analyzing the values silih asah, silih asih, and silih asuh (SILAS) as one of the local wisdom of the Sundanese culture. From data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation studies then analyzed, it is known that SILAS, as a Sundanese cultural philosophy contains harmonious values in building human qualities that can be integrated into Islamic Religious Education learning. The results of this study show that the essence of SILAS is universal to human values in line with religious values. The multicultural approach based on local wisdom in Sundanese culture SILAS is inseparable from educational aspects, such as ontological relationship with God, epistemology, openness to knowledge, and axiology to uphold human values. Islamic Religious Education learning with local culture provides competence to students to analyze and provide ideas or solutions to various cultural and religious conflicts.

Abstract

In religious primary schools, nationalism education enhances students' patriotism. However, a common challenge in religious primary schools is the conflict between nationalist education and religious sectarianism. Achieving harmonious integration between nationalism and religious education can solve the problem. This study aims to comprehensively describe and analyze the integration strategy regarding nationalism and religious education employed at the Islamic Elementary School (SDI) Ar-Roudloh in Lamongan, East Java. This research, using a qualitative case study approach, reveals key findings: first, the integration of nationalism and religious education at Islamic Elementary Schools is manifested through a combined national and religious curriculum, including Independent, Cambridge, Tahfidh, and Qur'an curriculum; second, the success of this integration is facilitated by the active role of teachers both inside and outside the classroom in educating students; third, observations, interviews, and focus group discussions with teachers yield valuable insights into the integration model of nationalism and religious education. In summary, this research underscores the significance of a well-integrated curriculum to reinforce both nationalism and religious values among students effectively.

Abstract

An extreme understanding of terrorists departs from the construction of inaccurate knowledge of the Al-Qur'an and Al-Hadith, thus showing Islam's scary and intolerant face. This fact is a severe note to the world of Islamic education, which is accused of contributing to giving birth to this exclusive understanding. That is contrary to the mission of Islam, which is rahmatan lil alamin. This study aims to describe inclusive-multicultural Islamic education for ex-convicts from the theory, implementation, and implications for deradicalization programs through religious counseling. This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. This approach uses observation and interview methods in digging and exploring data, which is strengthened by triangulation of sources and techniques. The results obtained from the process of implementing inclusive-multicultural Islamic education for ex-convicts: 1) forming a new understanding of previously inappropriate doctrines; 2) forming attitudes and behaviors that are more tolerant, humanist, pluralist, and multicultural in society; 3) able to adapt to the various realities of life without losing their identity; 4) more open in socializing and accepting the existing culture; 5) showing a more peaceful face of religion. It confirms that the formation of an inclusive multicultural understanding of religion has successfully managed the deradicalization program for ex-convicts' views.

Abstract

The need for literacy in the era of globalization demands the state's role to facilitate educational systems and services in line with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution. Efforts were made by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia by launching the Madrasah Literacy Movement (GLM) program to generate literacy at various levels of religious educational institutions. The research method uses qualitative research methods using a field research approach. Data was collected based on observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques using the Miles and Huberman model go through three steps: data condensation, data presentation, conclusion, and verification. The results showed that madrasah policies in adopting the madrasah literacy movement program in Public Islamic Elementary Schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri, MIN) were implemented by making policies for monitored reading programs, reading corner programs, and providing textbooks/non-lessons for students. The strategy of the madrasah literacy movement in MIN is the form of conditioning a literacy-friendly physical environment, striving for a social and practical environment as a communication and literacy interaction model, and seeking madrasah as a literate academic environment. Portrait of madrasah literacy movement in awakening literacy culture in MIN through planning, habituation, development, and learning activities of literacy programs.

Abstract

Choosing a suitable learning model in Islamic religious education is important in achieving educational goals in the 21st Century. Thus, researchers emphasize two aspects in this study. Firstly, what are the Islamic religious education learning models widely used in the teaching and learning process in the 21st Century? Secondly, what is the urgency of using Islamic Religious Education Learning Models in the 21st Century? A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted to achieve these objectives, consisting of the selection and PRISMA methodology, which involves systematic planning, identification, feasibility testing, and meta-analysis, including applicable theories of articles from the Crossref and Scopus databases that addressed specific topics (Islamic religious education, Islamic religious education learning, and Islamic religious education learning model). The findings of the analysis indicate that there are nine prevalent learning models utilized by teachers in Islamic religious education: blended learning (BL), problem-based learning (PBL), experiential learning (EL), discovery learning (DL), contextual teaching and learning (CTL), cooperative learning (CL), reflective learning, and electronic learning. This research shows that educators in Islamic religious education can explore and choose learning models appropriate to the teaching material. For example, regarding material on the history of Islamic civilization, teachers can use the discovery learning (DL) method to ensure the Islamic religious education learning process can run optimally according to students' needs.

Abstract

The value of education has long been used at pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) in Indonesia. The present research discusses implementing value education practices and developing students' interpersonal awareness in the context of pesantren-based higher education. The research employed a qualitative method by adopting a case study design in which data gathering methods included observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique utilizes the data analysis framework. The sources of this research are Universitas Islam Internasional Darullughah Wadda'wah and Universitas Darussalam Gontor East Java. The results show that implementing value education in pesantren-based higher education is deeply entrenched in religious and prophetic values. These values encompass various elements, including kiai (local Islamic leaders), santri (Islamic students), boarding schools, teachers, books, mosques, and campuses, collectively forming an integral part of the value framework. Islamic boarding schools' educational practices and regulations exhibit principles such as honesty, simplicity, independence, purity of heart, and dedication. Furthermore, these principles are instilled through habits, supervision of students, religious discussion sessions, and a range of additional efforts to shape these values within the students' souls and characters.

Abstract

This research explores the extracurricular learning program at Tanfirul Ghoyyi Lamongan Islamic Middle School, aimed at strengthening students' religious character. The goal is to prepare a future generation that is creative, resilient, and independent. The study focuses on the steps taken by the school, the role of the principal and staff in internalizing religious values, and the supporting factors and obstacles encountered. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was gathered through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The data was then analyzed using condensation, exposure, and conclusion techniques. The findings reveal several key steps the school takes to strengthen students' religious character. These include formulating the goals of extracurricular activities in line with the school's vision and mission, determining the implementation team, developing curriculum programs, creating extracurricular activities, innovating learning outside the classroom, and implementing habituation, modeling, and supervision. The principal plays a crucial role in planning, organizing, and supervising the program. At the same time, supervisory teachers are responsible for enhancing religious understanding, guiding the internalization process, and training students. Support for the program comes from various sources, including the school, student guardians, the Islamic boarding school environment, the creativity of supervisory teachers, and high student interest. However, challenges include a lack of awareness among community members and parents. In conclusion, the study underscores the importance of a collaborative effort involving school administration, teachers, students, and parents in effectively strengthening students' religious character through extracurricular activities. This research provides valuable insights into the practical steps and collective efforts required to nurture a morally grounded and independent future generation.
