Abstract

Pahawang Village is an island with strong marine tourism potential in Lampung. In addition to working as fishermen, many villagers also cultivate cocoa as an agricultural commodity. To date, cocoa beans have only been sold in dried form and have not been processed into other value-added products. In order to increase value added and support the village’s creative economy, product innovations derived from cocoa with high market value and simple production technology are needed. Cocoa beans contain active compounds such as catechins, anthocyanins, and natural fats that function as antioxidants and skin moisturizers. The purpose of this activity was to increase the value of cocoa by processing it into economically valuable soap. The method involved socialization and hands-on practice on cocoa soap production. The results showed a significant increase in community knowledge, reaching 92.8%, regarding the production and packaging of creative cocoa-based products. The activity of processing cocoa into soap had a positive impact on the people of Pahawang Village. With the new skills acquired, the community is expected to be able to independently develop cocoa-based home industries, thereby increasing income and economic welfare. The cocoa soap products also have the potential to become a flagship village product that supports nature tourism in Pahawang Village through the provision of souvenirs.

Abstract

The digitalization of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is a key strategy to enhance visibility and market access in the digital economy era. However, most MSMEs in rural areas still operate conventionally and lack adequate digital presence. This community service activity aims to optimize MSMEs’ digital presence through the integration of Google Maps as an effort to improve their visibility and market access in Dogang Village, Langkat Regency. The activity employed a participatory and applicative approach consisting of three main stages: socialization on the importance of MSME digitalization, assistance in creating and optimizing Google Maps through Google Business Profile, and activity evaluation. The results show that all targeted MSMEs were successfully registered on Google Maps and experienced improved understanding in managing their business identity digitally. One MSME, namely a palm sugar enterprise, reported significant benefits in terms of easier customer access and increased customer trust. Overall, this program contributed to enhancing the digital literacy of MSME actors and supported the strengthening of the local economy. The integration of Google Maps proved to be a simple and effective digital solution to improve the visibility and market access of rural MSMEs.

Abstract

Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), particularly hypertension, have become a major public health problem that continues to increase in the community, including in Sumbawa Regency. Limited public knowledge regarding risk factors, dangers, and prevention of hypertension contributes to high incidence rates and complications that reduce quality of life and increase the economic burden on families. This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to improve public knowledge and awareness of NCD risks and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle to prevent hypertension. The program was implemented using a door-to-door approach by visiting community members at their homes or workplaces. The activities included health education on healthy lifestyles and hypertension prevention, interactive discussions, and blood pressure screening. The participants were 20 residents of Sebewe Village who had risk factors for hypertension. Program success was measured through increased understanding and active participation. The results showed an improvement in participants’ knowledge before and after the educational sessions, and several participants were identified with stage I and stage II hypertension. This program had a positive impact by increasing community awareness to improve dietary habits, increase physical activity, and reduce smoking behavior in order to achieve more optimal and sustainable health outcomes.

Abstract

Bokashi fertilizer is an organic fertilizer produced through the fermentation of organic materials with the assistance of Effective Microorganisms (EM-4), which functions to improve soil fertility and crop productivity. This activity aimed to provide education and practical skills to the community of Ngedukelu Village in utilizing local organic waste as bokashi fertilizer, so that it can serve as an alternative to inorganic fertilizers in horticultural crop cultivation. The method applied was a participatory approach through a series of extension activities, training sessions, hands-on practice, and field assistance. The raw materials for bokashi fertilizer were sourced from easily available local organic waste, such as livestock manure, rice husks, straw, and household vegetable waste. The results showed that the produced bokashi fertilizer had good maturity characteristics, indicated by a dark brown to blackish color, a crumbly texture, a distinctive fermented odor, and the appearance of white filaments as indicators of microbial activity. Application of bokashi fertilizer to horticultural crops such as chili, mustard greens, and legumes demonstrated improved plant growth, greener leaves, and greater resistance to pest attacks. In addition to increasing crop productivity, this activity provided environmental benefits by reducing organic waste and economic benefits through lowering agricultural production costs.

Abstract

Children with cancer face multidimensional challenges encompassing psychological, spiritual, educational, and institutional aspects, requiring an integrated family-centered support approach. This community service program aimed to improve the quality of assistance for children with cancer through the integration of Qur’anic reading guidance and spiritual mentoring for parents, adaptive learning for children, and financial management training using the Zahir application for institutional staff. The program was implemented at the Indonesian Cancer Child Foundation (YKAKI) Bandung Branch from March to September 2025 using a participatory approach. Indicators of success included increased parental engagement in spiritual sessions, sustained learning participation among children, and improved staff competence in digital financial recording and reporting. The results showed that parents experienced emotional catharsis and enhanced spiritual resilience, children maintained learning motivation and continuity through flexible and humanistic instruction, and staff were able to conduct more orderly and accountable transaction recording and basic financial reporting. Overall, this collaborative and integrative model proved effective in addressing the complex needs of children with cancer and their families and demonstrates strong potential for replication in similar institutions with contextual adjustments.
