Abstract

John B. Cobb Jr., a well-known theologian, philosopher, and environmentalist in the United States, has developed his participatory ecological theology from process philosophy to process theology. Some scholars believe it belongs to a distorted form of anthropocentrism, while others suggest it belongs to biocentrism. This study seeks to explore how participatory ecological theology from the perspective of John B. Cobb, Jr. based on a participatory ecological approach to the discourse of environmental ethical methods, especially from a theological perspective. However, through Cobb’s attention to and exploration of environmental crises and interactions with other environmentalists, his ecological theology is shown to be a new form of participatory ecological theology that recognizes the intrinsic value of all existence and affirms the participatory ecological order of nature. He challenges the traditional Christian doctrine of “dominion”. He points to a more responsible concept for humanity, that is, to serve all parts of the natural world as responsible creations, just as serving God.

Abstract

Death is a very close thing in human life, even a certain thing. It is impossible to predict when this death will occur. Therefore, death is also part of a mysterious phenomenon that occurs repeatedly with the same subject, namely people. The saying that the closest friend is dead. Sooner or later, willingly, or not, every human being will experience death that no one can avoid. When it comes to reacting to death, some people are afraid, some are worried, and some sincerely accept it. This article uses descriptive – analysis using Zur Theologie des Todes – ‘On the Theology of Death,’ published in 1958. Karl Rahner developed his theological approach to death. Death, according to Rahner, is an event that affects the whole human being, not just the body, while the immortal soul remains fundamentally intact. According to the Buddhist concept, death is the end of suffering. Birth, dissatisfaction, pain, and dissatisfaction, are suffering in life. So, death is a possible way to reduce pain Death, which is seen as the end of one's life, should be seen as an act in itself. Rahner interprets fulfillment as belonging to death itself. Nonetheless, Rahner's theory, like Augustine's, continues to evolve, and his treatment of the "liberty of the sick," if wrong, offers an important addition to moral meditation on the issue of the end of life. Dalam Zur Theologie des Todes – On the Theology of Death, diterbitkan pada tahun 1958, Karl Rahner mengembangkan pendekatan teologisnya sendiri terhadap kematian.

Abstract

This paper aims to construct the church's response in facing the reality of migration in Batak land with the church's starting point as a community (communal ecclesiology). Communal ecclesiology requires an understanding of the cultural context and local wisdom of the community where the church grows. The context of the Christian community and churches in Batak land is characterized as communal life and thickened to the local wisdom. It is concluded that Christianity and churches in Batak land could adopt communal ecclesiology in response to the current migration reality. This article overviews the life of the early church in Acts. 2:41-47 as communal ecclesiology shows the Church's nature in celebrating personal faith communally within the faith community in three ways, namely daily labor, fellowship labor, and God's labor.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discover the use of the progressive-genetic method in the task of Old Testament Theology. This method is understood as the exposition or explanation of God’s Revelation as presented by the Bible, more specifically in the sense that Devine Revelation is centered on some covenant made by God with Noah, Abraham, Moses, and through Christ which all shows the organic existence of the Bible and biblical anatomy. In conclusion, in carrying out the task of Old Testament Theology, genetically progressive methodology can be used as a model in addition to other methodologies, which reveal God’s ever-evolving Revelation as revealed in the Bible that God gave or revealed to certain people named specifically by God self.

Abstract

Women in Meto culture have a uniqueness that can only be understood if they understand the construction of Meto culture. In general, many people always associate women's issues with patriarchal culture whose assumptions are oppressive and unfair to women. Women are often seen as marginalized. This paper aims to build a new understanding of women's identity in Meto culture that is more positive in patriarchal culture. There are discussions of women's identity in the Meto culture and its approach through Christian education. This positive understanding is then formed in dialogue with the appropriate biblical texts. Furthermore, the process of seeding this understanding can be carried out in the Christian education space with the Contextual Teaching and Learning learning model. This research was carried out using a literature study that is relevant to the issue of women’s identity in the Meto culture and the results found as content in the Christian education space are that the identity of women in the Meto culture is unique, relational, collective, and cosmic.

Abstract

The theocracy that introduced Jesus in Luke was more about the principles of God's government based on love. The book of Luke says the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost. He came not to condemn the world but so that the world, through Him, could be saved. This study explores the theocratic principles underlying Jesus Christ's missionary ministry, focusing on His efforts to seek and rescue the lost, as illustrated in Luke 19:10. The research method used is hermeneutics with a historical analysis and text context analysis approaches. Through a historical approach, this study aims to explore the principles of theocracy in Christ's missionary service throughout time. Analysis of texts and historical context will help identify changes, consistency, and continuity in the understanding and implementation of theocratic principles. The results are expected to provide deep insight into how theocratic principles played a key role in Christ's missionary service, taking into account changes and adaptations throughout history. The practical implications of this research include guidance for mission practitioners and church leaders in developing ministry strategies that take into account the historical course of theocratic principles in Christ's mission.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover the secret of the plan of salvation that lies in the genealogy of Jesus Christ recorded in Matthew 1:1–17, especially in the context of the presence of foreign and sinful women in Jesus' lineage. In this effort, the method of theological analysis was used to understand the theological significance and moral message contained in the inclusion of women such as Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Uriah's wife in the genealogy of Christ. This research delves into the historical and cultural context of Matthew's writing and analyzes how the inclusion of these women complements and illustrates the fulfillment of God's all-encompassing and gracious promise. The findings of this study will deepen understanding of the redemptive narrative woven into the genealogy of Jesus Christ, provide deep insight into the inclusiveness of God's plan of salvation, and offer an evocative testimony of His infinite love and mercy to all mankind.

Abstract

Analyzing the similarities between Dani women and Jewish women who are bound by patriarchal culture, the author will use an integrative approach to the second principle of Pancasila and Genesis 38:1–30 to prove that both care for women who are oppressed by patriarchal culture. By using Farnsworth's approach, the author proves that even though the context is different, both the second principle of Pancasila and Genesis 38:1–30 have common ground that supports each other in protecting women from patriarchal injustice. The most important contribution of this approach is providing strong support for the struggle to protect women who are vulnerable to patriarchal domination, both in the context of the Dani tribe and Jewish women as depicted in Genesis 38:1–30. By strengthening cooperation between the values of Pancasila and the principles expressed in the holy book, this approach provides a solid foundation for advocacy and real action to protect women's rights and end injustice caused by patriarchal culture.
