Abstract

Teachers often face challenges in the classroom due to their limited understanding of how to choose appropriate learning models, which leads to students not fully engaging with the learning material. The role-playing learning model offers the advantage of providing students with hands-on experience during the learning process, which can enhance their curiosity and help alleviate boredom. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the role-playing learning model in elementary school education. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, the researchers reviewed 8 articles published between 2019 and 2023. The search keyword used was "Role-Playing Learning" in the Google Scholar database. The findings, presented in a table, demonstrate that the role-playing learning model is effective in promoting student engagement. The improvements observed in various learning aspects suggest that the role-playing model enhances motivation and learning outcomes, making the learning experience more meaningful.

Abstract

Discipline is a prerequisite for creating a conducive educational environment for teaching and learning. The implementation of discipline in schools aims to achieve learning objectives aligned with the school's vision and mission and to achieve national education goals. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, students have experienced a decline in character values such as good manners, discipline, and responsibility, as evidenced by numerous violations at school. This article discusses factors influencing student discipline, the role of parents and teachers in improving student discipline, and effective strategies that teachers and parents can implement to improve student discipline post-pandemic. The method used to write this article is a literature review and a qualitative discussion of the results. The author's findings indicate that factors influencing student discipline are students themselves and their environment, including teachers and parents. Teachers and parents are expected to work together diligently to implement the same strategies at home and at school: explaining rules and their consequences, modeling, habituation, supervision, and control. In implementing these strategies, teachers and parents can provide stimuli for students, namely rewards and consequences appropriate to the student's age. It is hoped that teachers and parents will continue to innovate in implementing the strategies presented so that efforts to improve student discipline post-pandemic will yield satisfactory results.

Abstract

Elementary education plays a crucial role in shaping character and developing students' potential. However, school learning practices often focus solely on academic aspects, leading to under-development of students' interests, talents, and creativity. This situation necessitates programs that provide spaces for expression, real-world experiences, and a learning environment that supports the development of individual potential from an early age. To understand the implementation of the elementary school creative program at SDN Teluk Tiram 1 Banjarmasin, this study employed a qualitative exploratory case study design. Data were collected using participatory observation of creative activities, comprehensive interviews with the principal, educators, and students, and document analysis, with the program's implementation at the elementary school level as the unit of analysis. Findings indicate that the program successfully channeled students' diverse talents, from arts and culture to skills, while also enhancing self-confidence, courage to perform, collaboration, and responsibility. A positive impact was also seen in the school community's increased appreciation of student creativity, despite challenges such as weather and limited facilities. The elementary school creative program has been shown to support the development of student potential while strengthening the role of teachers as facilitators of creativity. These findings indicate that a similar model has the potential for broader application as a holistic learning strategy based on local potential.
