Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by flipbook media on students’ critical thinking skills in the topic of the human digestive system at SMA Swasta PAB 8 Saentis. This research employed a quantitative approach with a experimental design in the form of a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes: the experimental class, which received learning using the PBL model assisted by flipbook media, and the control class, which received conventional instruction. Data were collected through essay tests (pretest and posttest), observations, interviews, and questionnaires. The data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and t-tests with the help of SPSS version 25.0. The results showed a significant difference in the improvement of critical thinking skills between the experimental and control classes. The average posttest score in the experimental class was 78.67, higher than the control class which scored 62.50. The t-test results showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that the PBL model assisted by flipbook media had a significant effect on students’ critical thinking skills. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning model supported by flipbook media is effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking abilities in biology learning.

Abstract

In the midst of 21st century learning demands that emphasize active participation and comprehensive student involvement, teachers can make learning meaningful by facilitating students to develop their historical understanding through innovative learning methods, models and strategies. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the application of vlog history-based history learning on learning activeness and historical comprehension of students in experimental classes. The method used in this research is quantitative approach with quasi experiment method. This research design uses a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The results showed that n-gain testing on learning activeness data obtained a gain value of 0.4381 or 43.8120% with the category that the increase in student learning activeness in class XI 5 was moderate and n-gain historical comprehension testing obtained results of 0.8604 or 86.036% with a high gain category. The application of vlog history media in learning history is the answer to the demands of today's digital era learning, in vlog history shows the teacher as a content creator performs a contemporary digital visual style of learning to be able to encourage students' activeness in learning. The use of vlog history in history learning provides the latest way of delivering learning material that adapts the learning style of students to technological developments. The vlog history that teachers create can support the importance of 21st century competencies where the majority of students are digital natives.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the coaching method, academic supervision, and school culture on teacher work motivation in private junior high schools in Lasem District, Rembang Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey design. Data were collected using questionnaires distributed to 62 teachers from various private schools and analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics using multiple linear regression. The results showed that, partially, the coaching method had a positive and significant influence on teacher work motivation with a contribution of 32.9%. Academic supervision also significantly affected teacher motivation with a contribution of 34.0%. Furthermore, school culture had a significant effect, contributing 32.8% to teacher motivation. Simultaneously, the three variables coaching, academic supervision, and school culture contributed 49.6% to the variance in teacher motivation. These findings indicate that improving teacher motivation requires an integrative approach. Coaching plays a crucial role in fostering professional awareness and reflection. Academic supervision enhances pedagogical competence through structured, constructive feedback. Meanwhile, a strong and supportive school culture fosters collaboration, trust, and teacher commitment. Therefore, synergy between personal, professional, and institutional support must be continuously strengthened to ensure optimal teacher performance and improve educational quality in private schools.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of the school principal as an academic supervisor in enhancing teachers’ pedagogical competence at SD Negeri 1 Pamotan, Rembang. Pedagogical competence, as mandated by Law No. 14 of 2005 on Teachers and Lecturers, is a critical component in managing the learning process and fostering meaningful classroom experiences. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews with key school stakeholders, classroom observations, and document analysis. Thematic analysis was used to explore the principal’s supervisory practices and their influence on teacher development. The findings reveal that the principal implemented a structured and collaborative supervision process, encompassing planning, implementation, follow-up, and evaluation stages. However, the integration of educational technology and innovative teaching strategies was found to be limited, thereby reducing the overall effectiveness of the supervision in improving student learning outcomes. This study contributes to the existing body of literature by underscoring the strategic role of principals in strengthening pedagogical competence through academic supervision that embraces technology and innovation. It also highlights the importance of ongoing professional development and systematic feedback in enhancing teacher quality and instructional effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the extent of the influence of family choice traditions on students' political decisions in the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach by collecting data through interviews and literature studies. The results show that the family is still the main political socialization agent that influences students' political preferences, mainly due to emotional bonds, economic dependence, and inherited values from an early age. However, technological advances, higher education, and political discussions in the campus environment also provide space for students to think critically and make political decisions independently. Thus, although the tradition of family choice is still strong, its influence on students' political decisions tends to begin to weaken with the development of the times and wider access to information.

Abstract

The Sakai tribe is one of the isolated tribes in Indonesia, precisely in Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. The Sakai tribe is divided into two parts, namely the Inner Sakai tribe and the Outer Sakai tribe. Sakai Dalam is a half-living Sakai resident living in the wilderness, with a livelihood hunting, fishing and retrieving forest products. Sakai luar are residents who inhabit villages adjacent to settlements of Malay tribes and other tribes. The development that occurs in the cultural aspect in the local wisdom of the Sakai Tribe in terms of Traditional Houses of course there are also developments in the social aspect. This study aims to find out the background, process of development and factors that affect the socio-culture of the Sakai tribe in Kesumbo Ampai Village, Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency (1995-2016). The method used in this study is a historical approach. With the results obtained, the socio-cultural development background of the Sakai tribe community in Kesumbo Ampai Village, Batin Solapan District was measured by aspects of social groups, culture, social institutions and social statistics. The process of socio-cultural development of the Sakai tribe in Kesumbo Ampai Village, Batin Solapan District is assessed on the social aspects of the community, education and culture of the traditional house of the Sakai tribe. The factors that affect the socio-cultural development of the Sakai traditional house in Kesumbo Ampai Village, Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency are influenced by internal factors and also external factors.

Abstract

A This study aims to describe the roles of teachers and parents in fostering storybook reading habits to enhance early childhood literacy at TK Raihan Karina, Medan Tembung. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that interactive reading activities at school and active parental involvement at home significantly influence children's reading interest, vocabulary acquisition, and comprehension. The success of literacy programs relies heavily on collaboration between school and home environments and the availability of age-appropriate and engaging reading materials.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji efektivitas media kartu kata bergambar dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan dan menulis siswa kelas 2 SD Negeri 014 Sidodadi. Latar belakang masalah menunjukkan sekitar 40% siswa belum mencapai standar kompetensi minimum karena pembelajaran konvensional. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental dan rancangan pretest-posttest one group. Seluruh 27 siswa kelas 2 SD Negeri 014 Sidodadi dijadikan populasi sekaligus sampel penelitian (total sampling). Data dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis yang dilaksanakan sebagai pretest (sebelum intervensi) dan posttest (setelah intervensi). Tes ini mengukur kemampuan membaca permulaan dan menulis siswa. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan paired sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan: nilai rata-rata membaca permulaan naik dari 60.00 menjadi 88.46, dan menulis dari 60.00 menjadi 87.69. Uji paired sample t-test untuk kedua kemampuan menunjukkan nilai Sig. (P-value) < 0.001, menegaskan perbedaan yang sangat signifikan. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa media kartu kata bergambar efektif dalam meningkatkan literasi dasar siswa, menjadi strategi pembelajaran inovatif yang relevan, terutama di konteks pedesaan, serta mengisi celah literatur terkait dampak simultan pada populasi spesifik ini.

Abstract

This study is a type of research and Development (R&D) which aims to develop augmented ‎Reality (AR) based learning media on the topic of the human digestive system for high school ‎students. This study was initiated because of the increasing need for interactive learning media that ‎are able to visualize abstract biological concepts and support * independent curriculum*, which ‎emphasizes meaningful and technology-oriented learning. The development process follows the 4-‎D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) introduced by Thiagarajan, but this study was ‎limited to the Develop stage due to time constraints. Research instruments include expert ‎validation sheets, teacher and student practicalities questionnaires, and pretest and posttest ‎assessments to measure media effectiveness. The validation results of 98% media experts and 88% ‎material experts showed that the media is very feasible. The practical test received a score of 90% ‎from teachers and 98% from students, both belonging to the “very practical”category. Furthermore, ‎the effectiveness test showed an increase in students ' conceptual understanding, with an average ‎N-Gain score of 76.52%, which is high. These results indicate that AR-based learning media are ‎effective in increasing students ' engagement and conceptual understanding of the human digestive ‎system.

Abstract

This study aims to describe in depth the contribution of extracurricular activities of dance, pencak silat, and futsal in shaping the character of 5th grade students of SDN 42 Pekanbaru. The main focus of this research is on the aspects of discipline, responsibility, and confidence. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with students and teachers, and documentation studies. The results of the study show that regular and consistent participation in extracurricular activities has proven to be effective in fostering student discipline. This can be seen from the students' adherence to a regular training schedule, obedience to the rules set by the coach, and their commitment to completing the tasks or responsibilities given. Furthermore, this extracurricular also plays a significant role in shaping the character of responsibility. Students learn to carry out their roles, both as individuals and as part of a team, and they also begin to understand and accept the consequences of every action or decision they take. In addition, extracurriculars have a positive impact on increasing student confidence. This confidence grows through the mastery of new skills that they gradually practice, the courage to perform or compete in public, and an unyielding attitude in the face of difficulties during the training process. However, it was found that the development of this character was not completely even among all students. This study concludes that extracurricular activities, if systematically integrated with the school curriculum, can be a very effective and essential strategy in character education at the elementary school level.
