Abstract

Interest in learning history among students, especially in rural areas of Indonesia, has decreased significantly, so that only about 35% of students show high interest in the subject. This condition has the potential to threaten their understanding of culture and national identity. This study aims to examine the use of the Japanese Fortress located in Badean Village as a source of history learning to increase the learning interest of MTs Nurul Iman students. A qualitative approach with an exploratory design is applied to explore the experiences and perceptions of students, teachers, and the community through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and focused group discussions. The results of the study revealed that visits and hands-on learning at the Japanese Fort site were able to increase students' interest and understanding of history. Interactive and contextual learning experiences encourage deeper emotional engagement of students. In addition, the use of these local historical sites helps students identify and live the cultural values inherent in their communities. These findings show the effectiveness of the Japanese Fortress as a historical educational medium in strengthening the cultural identity and learning motivation of MTs Nurul Iman students. The research recommends the need for adequate education policy support, special training for teachers, and improvements to the physical facilities of the site to optimize the use of local historical heritage. The integration of historical sites into the formal curriculum is also suggested as a strategic step in improving the quality of history learning in Indonesia as a whole.

Abstract

The integrity of tax administration in Indonesia faces significant challenges due to emerging patterns of fraud involving officials from the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) who privately hold shares in tax consultancy firms. This phenomenon reflects a deeper systemic issue where taxation, ideally serving as both a fiscal tool and an ideological instrument for economic justice, is co-opted for personal gain. Our current study aims to critically examine how such ownership structures create conflicts of interest and facilitate corruption within the tax system. Employing a qualitative research design, we adopt a critical theory framework—particularly the Frankfurt School tradition—and apply the Fraud Triangle model to interpret fraud patterns. Data were collected through content analysis of national media coverage and in-depth interviews with taxation experts, anti-corruption officials, and academics. Findings reveal that insider access and authority are exploited to manipulate tax obligations, weakening public trust and undermining the redistributive function of tax policy. These actions create systemic risks by normalizing unethical behavior within public institutions. Our study emphasizes the need for independent oversight, stricter conflict-of-interest regulations, and reforms in ethical governance to restore institutional credibility and enhance tax compliance.

Abstract

Integration of cultural elements into the learning process, especially in mathematics, functions as a strategic approach to create a contextual and interesting classroom environment. This study aims to develop ethnomatics-based mathematics learning media that integrates local culture to improve critical thinking skills of 5th grade elementary school students. This study is a type of research and development that refers to three stages: preliminary study, model development, and trial. The subjects of this study consisted of 66 fifth grade elementary school students in Klaten Regency, Central Java who were selected using purposive sampling techniques. The data collected quantitatively to determine the average score, by categorizing based on the evaluation table referred to by the criteria, then analyzed qualitatively. The preliminary study was conducted through observations related to local culture that is relevant to the concept of mathematics and a needs questionnaire. The product developed is a plasticine learning media in the form of traditional cakes as an aid in understanding the concept of geometry. The trial results showed significant improvements in four aspects of learning: conceptual understanding (from 70 to 90), critical thinking skills (from 74 to 89), collaboration (from 75 to 95), and local cultural knowledge (from 70 to 95). These findings indicate that ethnomatics based on local culture is not only effective in improving students' academic abilities, but also in strengthening cultural understanding and collaborative skills. Thus, this approach is worthy of being used as an innovative alternative in mathematics learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

The lack of direct involvement of students in learning activities, plus the use of conventional teaching methods by teachers to date, causes limitations on students’ critical thinking. This research is intended to explore the effectiveness of the application of the Think Pair Share model assisted by situation cards in improving the critical thinking skill of grade VIII junior high school student related to the material “National Cultural Challenges in the Era of Globalization”. This study applies a pre-experimental type of One Group Pretest-Posttest, with a sample of 34 students in class VIII-11 of SMP Negeri 4 Samarinda who were freely selected. The instruments utilized were pre-test and post-test essay tests and student involvement observation instruments. The findings in this study were analyzes statistically through a descriptive analysis approach and the Paired Sample t-Test. The findings indicated that there was a significant difference between the pre-test mean score of 48.32, increasing to 83.21 after the implementation of the post-test. The normality test of the data was identified as normally distributed, and the t-test showed a significance of 0.001 <0.05, indicating a significant difference between before treatment and after treatment. Based on this research, it is proven that the application of the Think Pair Share model assisted by situation has an impact on improving student’s critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The Muhammadiyah Hajjah Nuriyah Shabran Islamic Boarding School, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, is an institution that produces Muhammadiyah cadres at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. As students who live in the dormitory, the students of Shabran Islamic Boarding School are faced with the challenge of managing their personal finances independently. The purpose of this study is to determine the implementation of personal financial management, the obstacles experienced, and the supporting factors for the personal financial management of the students of the Muhammadiyah Hajjah Nuriyah Shabran Islamic Boarding School, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This research is a case study with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of the study show that the personal financial management carried out by the students is in the form of: (1) keeping a simple monthly expenditure record, (2) allocating savings funds of 10-20% of monthly income. Factors that inhibit the personal financial management of students are: (1) still being influenced by the behavior of their friends, (2) lack of support from parents and the Islamic boarding school environment in the management of students' personal finances. Supporting factors in students' personal financial management include self-motivation to manage their finances more systematically, avoid wasteful spending, and conduct self-evaluations to ensure a brighter future. With this research, it is hoped that the Islamic boarding school can encourage more organized personal financial management among all students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Adiwiyata Mandiri Program in increasing students' environmental awareness at SMAN 1 Sukakarya. Increasingly complex environmental issues demand effective environmental education at the secondary school level. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation over a period of 6 months. The research subjects include students, teachers, and managers of the Adiwiyata program. The results of the study showed that the implementation of the Adiwiyata Mandiri Program succeeded in increasing students' environmental awareness by 78% based on pre-test and post-test. Success indicators include increased participation in environmental activities, changes in environmentally friendly behaviors, and understanding of sustainable development concepts. The main supporting factors are the school's commitment, teacher support, and active student participation. The obstacles faced include limited funds, lack of awareness among some school residents, and lack of infrastructure support. Research recommendations include increasing funding allocation, strengthening teacher training programs, and optimizing the role of school committees.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze community empowerment budget policy as a strategic instrument in accelerating rural development, with a case study in Hiliaurifa Village, Maniamolo Subdistrict, South Nias Regency. The focus of the study is on the implementation of budget policy in supporting empowerment programs and its impact on rural progress. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews with the Village Head, BPD Chair, Hamlet Head, and community members, field observations, and analysis of the 2023–2024 APBDes documents. The results of the study show that the allocation of Village Funds has contributed significantly to empowerment programs and village development. Over the past two years, the Village Fund budget of Rp1,020,176,000.00 (2023) and Rp1,092,267,000.00 (2024) has been allocated to two main areas: village development and community empowerment. The utilization of these budgets has had a positive impact, particularly in enhancing community capacity and advancing village infrastructure. The study’s conclusions emphasize the importance of transparency and participation in the budget planning process. Recommendations include budget management training for village officials, guidance from the district government, and strengthening village deliberative forums as a collective decision-making mechanism supporting empowerment toward a progressive and self-reliant Hiliaurifa Village.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of professional competence and teacher creativity on the performance of elementary school teachers in Klakah District. The design used is descriptive correlational. The sample contains 150 teachers selected through proportional random sampling technique. Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression after fulfilling the classical assumption test. The research results show that professional competence and teacher creativity together have a positive effect on teacher performance. The coefficient of determination (R2) value of 0.413 indicates that professional competence and teacher creativity together explain 41.3% of the variation in teacher performance. These results reinforce the crucial importance of developing professional competence and teacher creativity in efforts to improve the quality of educator performance in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the management of Christianity-based character education in improving the quality of high school education. The research was conducted at one of the Christian high schools in the Tangerang area. The basis for this research is the increasing need for character strengthening in the midst of the moral crisis of the younger generation due to the impact of the negative influence of globalization, technological developments, and the lack of integration of religious values in the lives of students. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method where data is obtained through observation, interviews and documentation studies. The subjects of the study are the principal, vice principal for curriculum and student affairs, teachers of PAK, BK and PKn, homeroom teachers, students, parents and alumni. The results of the study show that the management of Christian-based character education in schools is well designed through systematic, collaborative, and evaluative management. The planning stage is designed in a systematic, structured, and integrated manner from the center (foundation) which is then integrated into the vision and mission, learning objectives, and appropriate curriculum. The organization is carried out with a whole-school approach, which involves all school residents, namely principals, vice principals, teachers, students, parents and alumni. The implementation stage takes place through curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular learning, where each activity must integrate Christian values. Other actions taken are with an exemplary approach to life and constructive interpersonal communication. Character education is carried out continuously so as to produce an effective habituation process. Subsequently, at the monitoring and evaluation stage, it is carried out holistically and continuously. There are character rubrics in the report cards, reflective journals of students, and evaluations from teachers and foundations accompanied by follow-up on improving and strengthening the program. This shows that Christianity-based character education contributes greatly to improving the quality of education.

Abstract

This research seeks to examine the effect of contribution income, claim expenses, and risk-based capital on PT's profitability. Asuransi Jiwa Mitra Syariah Tbk. (JMAS). In contemporary times, the demand for financial security is growing, leading insurance to have a significant role in handling the risks faced by clients. This research employs a quantitative approach utilizing secondary data derived from the company's yearly financial reports for the years 2017-2024, comprising a population and sample of 32 data points, with the sampling method being a saturated sample. The study's results indicate that contribution income has a negligible impact on profitability, as claim burden follows contribution income. At the same time, claims costs greatly influence profitability. Conversely, risk-based capital (RBC) has minimal impact on profitability, underscoring the necessity of effective fund management. This conclusion indicates that these elements need to be effectively managed to enhance the financial performance of Islamic insurance firms. This study aims to offer guidance for management and stakeholders in making strategic decisions to enhance profitability
