Abstract

Improving the quality of education is influenced by the factors involved such as teachers, curriculum, infrastructure and the environment. The curriculum for primary and secondary education is required to include art and culture subjects. The problem that is obtained at this time is the low interest of students in cultural arts subjects which results in the skills of students, especially traditional dancing, have not yet reached the criteria for completeness. Another problem is teacher-centered learning so that it limits students in exploring their skills. The purpose of this study was to improve students' traditional dancing skills with the specified Minimum Completeness Criteria, namely 80. The subjects in this study were 8th grade elementary school students. This is in accordance with the restrictions on activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The instruments in this study were observation sheets, interview sheets, documentation, field notes and tests. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. The results showed that in the pre-cycle activities the average result was 50.78 which the value had not yet reached the KKM, then the first cycle was carried out for 4 meetings, each meeting took a score to find the average at the end of the cycle. Cycle I got an average score of 64.28. In cycle II, the researcher also held 4 meetings and got a final average score of 83.46 which the value has reached the specified KKM. students' traditional dance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the teacher's perception of learning tools through realistic mathematics education with an Islamic context on social arithmetic material. This research uses descriptive-analytical research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were two mathematics teachers at MTsS Darul Hikmah in West Aceh, two mathematics teachers at MTsS Safinatun Naja in Nagan Raya, and three mathematics teachers at MAS Darul Hikmah in West Aceh. The data collection technique used an open questionnaire instrument. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman model which consists of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that seven teachers (100%) had never participated in using learning tools through realistic mathematics education with an Islamic context on social arithmetic material, five (71%) of the seven teachers were interested in using the learning tools, six (86%) of the seven teachers interested and agree with the learning tools in question, and seven teachers (100%) are willing and express their willingness to use the learning tools in question to students optimally. Based on the findings above, it can be concluded that the majority of teachers stated that the learning tools needed to be developed to support the vision and mission of the school. So, teachers and students need learning tools through realistic mathematics education with an Islamic context that lead students to understand social arithmetic based on the realities of everyday life that are integrated with Islamic values.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused worldwide disruption and affects every aspect of human life, including education. Before this situation, the proper application of technology has been an important tool to support the learning process through the online learning approach. This study aims to identify the use of padlet in teaching performing arts during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research used a qualitative method using literature review and action research. The subject of this research is the Performing Arts teachers. Self-administered interviews were conducted with other Performing Arts teachers as an observation material in this research study. The majority of the Performing Arts teachers agreed that padlet is one of the easy-to-use applications that is beneficial during online learning. The researcher also conducted research design in the form of a self-administered questionnaire. This study involved sixty-four (64) students from grades four and five in extending the understanding of the use of padlet from students’ views. From the questionnaire, 31 (49.2%) strongly agree with the idea that padlet is useful for online learning, 22 (34.9%) agree, 9 (14.3%) neutral, and 1 (1.6%) strongly disagree. Hence, the result emphasized that the padlet is useful for both teachers and students, especially during the home learning program in the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract

The critical thinking ability of prospective biology teacher students still needs to be improved to support the implementation of 21st century learning in schools. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the STEM-based Inquiry learning model on critical thinking skills in the Low-Level Plant Structure course. This research is a type of pseudo-experimental research, using control group Pretest-Posttest Design, involving 50 students who are divided into two classes, namely the control class and the experimental class. The data collection tools used in this study were student response questionnaires, critical thinking skills tests. Data analysis, researchers conducted testing using SPSS software. The results of data analysis obtained from the t-test of paired samples were obtained Sig. 0.00 < 0.005, which can be interpreted that there is a significant difference in effectiveness between critical thinking skills in experimental classes using STEM-based Inquiry and control classes using Inquiry in the Low-Level Plant Structure course. So it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant influence from the use of STEM-based inquiry on the critical thinking ability of prospective teacher students in the Biology Education Study Program

Abstract

This research is development research conducted with the ADDIE development model, which aims to develop Student Worksheets (LKS) based on mathematical connections on statistical material for seventh-grade junior high school students. Data was collected by using questionnaires, interviews, and tests. The research respondents were 10 students consisting of 5 boys and 5 girls from SMP Al Irsyad Banyuwangi. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that the LKS based on mathematical connections met the valid criteria with a value of 4,53. LKS is also said to be practically based on the average student response which reaches more than 3,25. While the effectiveness of LKS is shown from classical completeness which reaches 90%. So that the product is declared fit for use. Furthermore, it is necessary to conduct trials with respondents on a large scale to determine their practicality and effectiveness

Abstract

Developing students’ reading skills is highly required to be taught to the students from their young age since it affects the students’ achievement in learning . One of the private elementary schools in Central Java has been implementing a reading program called “tiered reading” for almost a year. The purpose of this study was to explore the implementation of the tiered reading program in grade two in one of the private elementary schools in Central Java. Four teachers who taught in four different paralel classes were the participants of this research. This case study utilized teachers interviews, classroom observations during the implementation of tiered reading program and documents collections such as worksheets and story books the teachers used. The data were analyzed by coding, categorizing and developing themes. The data analysis revealed three important themes; contradictory meaning between the teachers’ concept understanding and the teachers’ teaching strategies in the classroom. Reading for fluency and for remembering are the other emerging themes. The research concluded that the implementation of tiered reading was oriented to mechanical reading skill and literal comprehension reading

Abstract

Technology and information development give significant changes to the required human skills in the current era. Educational development is also needed so it is able to prepare the peoples to fulfill nowadays standards, one of it was through the development of learning media that is able to set up students so they have the opportunity to develop the abilities needed. The goals of this study is to develop a mathematics learning video based on problem-based learning approach on the Pythagorean Theorem topic. This is a Research and Development (R&D) study with ADDIE development method. This study’s subjects were 17 eighth-grade students at Junior High School 2 Pandaan. The results show that the problem-based mathematics learning video on the Pythagorean Theorem topic had been successfully developed. Product validation by media expert got a score of 3.71 and product validation by material expert got a score of 3.70 which means that the product is valid. Then for the product practically tests got a score of 3,34 which means that the product is practical. The result of the effectiveness test from the student’s score on the evaluation test after learning using the media shows that 82.4% of all subjects have reached the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) so that the product can be said to be effective. The results indicate that problem-based learning videos can be used as learning media on the Pythagorean Theorem topic.
