Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors causing damage to the crane wire rope during loading and unloading operations on MV. Aurora Christine and to formulate corrective measures. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data were obtained through direct observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation during sea practice. The analysis method used is the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results indicate that wire rope crane damage was caused by three main factors: human factors (weak supervision by officers, lack of crew competence, and inconsistent inspection implementation), technical factors (limited spare parts, damaged sheaves and drums, and unscheduled lubrication), and procedural factors (reactive maintenance, suboptimal logbook recording, and low compliance with the Planned Maintenance System/PMS). The impacts of these obstacles include loading and unloading process delays, increased operational costs, disrupted voyage schedules, and increased occupational safety risks. The efforts undertaken to overcome these obstacles include enhanced officer supervision, implementation of routine inspection and lubrication, crew technical training, maintenance of supporting components, and application of wire rope replacement procedures according to ISO 4309:2017 and IMO Guidelines. Consistent implementation of Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) is expected to prevent recurring damage and maintain compliance with SOLAS and ISM Code regulations.

Abstract

This study examines gender representation in visual images in Chapter 1 of English for Nusantara for Grade 4 students. The aim of this study is to analyze how male and female characters are portrayed in terms of roles, activities, and interactions. A qualitative research design was applied using content analysis to interpret the visual data. The data were collected from selected images on pages 1, 3, 8, 13, and 16–17, which show daily routines and family interactions. The findings indicate that both male and female characters are present in the textbook, but their roles are not ,equally distributed. Female characters are more often associated with domestic and caregiving roles, while male characters are portrayed as independent and sometimes dominant. Some images show a more balanced representation, especially in neutral activities, but this pattern does not appear consistently across the chapter. The study shows that gender representation in the visual images still reflects traditional stereotypes and has not fully supported equal representation

Abstract

This study aims to identify the forms of students’ information literacy in utilizing TikTok as a source of information and to examine the challenges they face in applying information literacy while using TikTok at Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang demonstrate a fairly good level of information literacy in utilizing TikTok as a source of information. This is reflected in their ability to search for, select, evaluate, verify, and utilize information to support academic needs and broaden their knowledge. Students also verify and compare information with more credible sources, such as books, scientific journals, official websites, and trusted media outlets. In addition, TikTok is used as a medium for accessing educational content, course materials, and learning tutorials. However, students still encounter several challenges, including difficulties in distinguishing accurate information from misinformation, the lack of clear references or sources, the rapid spread of unverified information, the short duration of videos, the dominance of entertainment content, the influence of TikTok’s algorithm, and limitations related to internet connectivity and data quotas. Therefore, critical thinking, information verification, and digital literacy skills need to be continuously strengthened so that TikTok can be used wisely and responsibly as a source of information.

Abstract

The implementation of the Independent Curriculum emphasizes on student-centered learning. However, there are still a number of issues with elementary school education, including inadequate use of media, context-deficient learning modules, and assessments that serve merely as a means of assigning marks. This study aims to analyze learning practices at SDN 010 Sepaku and identify the various problems faced by teachers in learning process and formulate a 4SI (Clue identification, cultural exploration, visual creation and presentation) as a learning innovation developed based on real needs in elementary schools. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method. The data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation studies, and questionnaires, then analyzed descriptively. The findings of this study indicate that although the school has sufficient facilities and a favorable learning environment, student-centered learning methods still require improvement. The implementation of 4SI model can improve the involvement, curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and self-confidence of students, thus potentially supporting the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the effect of teachers’ teaching style on students’ learning motivation in the brake system basic competency learning at Class XI Light Vehicle Engineering SMK Cipta Karya Prembun Kebumen; and (2) a description of the teaching styles (authoritative, democratic, and permissive) applied by teachers in that context. A quantitative ex post facto correlational design was used. The population consisted of all 50 Class XI TKR students (academic year 2025/2026), taken using proportional random sampling via Slovin’s formula (e = 5%). Data were collected through a 24-item Likert-scale questionnaire for each variable, validated with Pearson Product Moment correlation (r-table = 0.28, all items valid) and reliability-tested with Cronbach’s Alpha (X = 0.873; Y = 0.930). Prerequisite tests confirmed normality (K-S sig. = 0.151 > 0.05), linearity (Deviation from Linearity sig. = 0.655 > 0.05), and homogeneity (Levene’s sig. > 0.05). Pearson correlation showed a strong and significant relationship (r = 0.611; sig. = 0.000). Simple linear regression produced the equation Y = 24.511 + 0.766X (t = 5.353; sig. = 0.000), indicating that every one-unit increase in teaching style raises learning motivation by 0.766 units. The coefficient of determination R² = 0.374 shows that teaching style accounts for 37.4% of variation in learning motivation, while 62.6% is attributable to other factors. Descriptively, the authoritative teaching style had the highest mean score (33.72) compared to democratic (32.76) and permissive (31.36), confirming its dominance in brake system practical learning.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of fifth-grade students in the Pancasila Education subject at MI Muhammadiyah Cece, which were caused by the dominance of conventional, teacher-centered teaching methods that left students passive and lacking a deep understanding of the material. This research aimed to describe the implementation of the Talking Stick learning model and to determine the extent to which the model could improve students’ learning outcomes on the topic of rights and obligations. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design following the Kemmis and Mc Taggart model, consisting of the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection, carried out over two cycles with four meetings. The subjects were 21 fifth-grade students, comprising 12 female and 9 male students. Data were collected through multiple-choice achievement tests, observation sheets, and documentation, and were analyzed descriptively using mean scores and percentages. The results showed that the percentage of students who achieved the minimum learning completion criterion (KKTP ≥ 75) increased from 9.52% in the pre-action stage to 38.10% in Cycle I, and further increased to 95.23% in Cycle II. Student engagement and teacher performance also improved substantially between cycles. These findings indicate that the Talking Stick learning model is effective in improving the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students in Pancasila Education at MI Muhammadiyah Cece.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of tax literacy and the utilization of tax applications on tax compliance among lecturers at the Faculty of Health, Universitas Adiwangsa Jambi. This research employed a quantitative approach using a purposive sampling technique involving 30 respondents who possess a Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) and independently fulfill their tax reporting obligations. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicate that tax literacy does not have a significant partial effect on tax compliance (Sig. = 0.440 > 0.05), while the utilization of tax applications has a significant positive effect on tax compliance (Sig. = 0.007 < 0.05). Simultaneously, tax literacy and the utilization of tax applications significantly affect tax compliance (Sig. = 0.011 < 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.282 indicates that both independent variables explain 28.2% of the variation in tax compliance, while the remaining 71.8% is influenced by other factors outside this study. These findings suggest that the ease of using tax applications plays an important role in improving tax compliance, whereas tax literacy requires support from other factors to produce a stronger influence on taxpayers' compliance.

Abstract

Learning perspective drawing requires not only mastery of spatial concepts and drawing techniques but also students' ability to connect theoretical concepts with real-world practice. Therefore, a learning approach that promotes mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning experiences is needed. This study aimed to: (1) analyze the implementation of the Deep Learning Approach in perspective drawing instruction at SMAN 1 Padang; and (2) analyze how art teachers implemented the Deep Learning Approach through mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning in teaching perspective drawing. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. The research participants consisted of an art teacher, the vice principal for curriculum, and students of Class XI F1. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data trustworthiness was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that the Deep Learning Approach was implemented through three stages: planning, implementation, and assessment. During the learning process, students developed their understanding of perspective concepts by observing and analyzing real objects, applied these concepts in perspective drawing practice, and reflected on both the learning process and their artwork based on teacher feedback. The implementation of mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning principles fostered a more active, contextual, and student-centered learning environment, which enhanced students' motivation, creativity, self-confidence, and understanding of perspective drawing.

Abstract

Grasshoppers are often considered agricultural pests, although they play important ecological roles as decomposers, pollinators, and consumers in food webs. This study aimed to identify and analyze the diversity and dominance of grasshopper species in Balas Klumprik Urban Forest, Surabaya. The research was conducted from February to March 2024 using purposive sampling at three observation stations. Four families comprising six species were identified: Atractomorpha crenulata, Phlaeoba fumosa, Oedalus infernalis, Oxya japonica, Conocephalus longipennis, and Tetrix undulata. The Shannon–Wiener diversity index was 1.11 (moderate), while the dominance index was 0.4232 (low), indicating suitable habitat conditions for grasshopper diversity. These findings highlight the importance of conserving insect biodiversity in urban forests and support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15 on Life on Land. The results also have potential as a contextual learning resource for senior high school Biology, particularly on biodiversity, to enhance students' understanding and environmental awareness.
