Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Graduate Competency Standards (SKL) and Content Standards (SI) at the elementary school level. The problem studied relates to how the integration between learning outcomes and classroom learning implementation affects student competency achievement. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection was conducted through observation and documentation studies at SD Negeri 1 Abianbase. The results show that the implementation of SKL and SI has been implemented through integrated intracurricular, cocurricular, and extracurricular activities. However, its implementation has encountered several obstacles or barriers caused by many factors. The Independent Curriculum provides flexibility for schools to develop contextual and student-centered learning, thereby supporting the development of comprehensive competencies, including cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. However, improving teacher competency and institutional support is still needed for better and more consistent implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Guided Reading method on the reading comprehension skills of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 105288 Sei Rotan. This research employed a quantitative approach with a Pre-Experimental Design in the form of a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects consisted of 34 students selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. The research instrument was tested through validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discrimination index tests. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and Paired Sample t-Test hypothesis testing with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics.The results showed an improvement in students’ reading comprehension skills after the implementation of the Guided Reading method. The average pretest score of 62.12 increased to 85.15 in the posttest, with an improvement of 23.03 points. The minimum score increased from 50 to 76, and the maximum score increased from 75 to 94. The normality test results showed that the data were normally distributed, with significance values of 0.432 for the pretest and 0.179 for the posttest (> 0.05). The results of the Paired Sample t-Test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a t-count value of 58.653 > t-table 2.034, indicating that H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. Therefore, the Guided Reading method has a significant effect on improving the reading comprehension skills of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 105288 Sei Rotan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of effective tax rate (ETR), profitability (ROA), and firm size (SIZE) on income smoothing practices in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2022–2024 period. Based on agency theory (Jensen & Meckling, 1976) and signaling theory (Spence, 1973), this study uses a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis on a sample of 24 manufacturing companies (69 observations) selected through a purposive sampling method. The Eckel Index is used to measure income smoothing as the dependent variable. The results show that effective tax rate and profitability each have a positive and significant effect on income smoothing, while firm size has no significant effect partially. Simultaneously, all three independent variables have a significant effect on income smoothing, with an Adjusted R² of 14.8%. These findings indicate that fiscal pressure and high profitability are the main drivers of income smoothing behavior in the Indonesian manufacturing sector. This study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence on the multifactorial determinants of income smoothing during the post-pandemic economic recovery period.

Abstract

This study aims to comparatively analyze the Love Curriculum (Kurikulum Cinta) and the Merdeka Curriculum from the perspective of students' character development. The research employed a qualitative approach using a library research design. Data were collected from policy documents, academic books, scholarly journal articles, and other relevant literature related to the Love Curriculum, the Merdeka Curriculum, and character education. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, comparative analysis, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes competency development through differentiated instruction, project-based learning, and the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile. In contrast, the Love Curriculum focuses on internalizing the values of compassion, religious moderation, respect for human dignity, and the establishment of a humanistic school culture. Although the two curricula differ in their philosophical foundations, curriculum structure, learning approaches, and assessment systems, they share the same objective of developing students who are competent, morally grounded, and capable of living harmoniously in a diverse society. This study proposes an Integrated Character Development Model Based on Competence and Compassion as a conceptual synthesis that combines the strengths of both curricula. The proposed model is expected to contribute to strengthening the implementation of character education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Contemporary education faces various challenges, including character degradation, increasing intolerance, declining social awareness, and the impact of digitalization on students' behavior. These conditions require an educational paradigm that emphasizes not only academic achievement but also character formation grounded in Islamic and humanitarian values. This study aims to analyze the concept of the Love Curriculum from the perspective of Islamic education, examine its implementation, identify the challenges of its application, and formulate strategies to strengthen its implementation in the contemporary era. This study employed a qualitative approach using a library research design. Data were collected through document analysis of books, scholarly journal articles, educational policy documents, and primary Islamic sources, including the Qur'an and Hadith. The data were analyzed using content analysis and thematic analysis to develop a comprehensive conceptual synthesis. The findings indicate that the Love Curriculum represents an Islamic educational paradigm based on the value of rahmah (compassion), integrating character education into all educational components. Its implementation involves strengthening school policies, humanistic learning practices, teachers' role modeling, transformational school leadership, a religious school culture, collaboration with families, and authentic assessment. Despite challenges posed by globalization, digitalization, and human resource readiness, the Love Curriculum offers significant potential to develop students with strong character, moderation, and the ability to respond to the demands of the twenty-first century while maintaining their Islamic identity. Abstract

Fishpond land leasing through a deposit payment system has become a long-standing practice in Tajung Widoro Village, Bungah District, Gresik Regency. The practice is based on verbal agreements and mutual trust, raising questions regarding its compliance with the principles of fiqh muamalah. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the deposit payment system in fishpond land leasing and evaluate its conformity with the principles of ijarah and 'urf. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive phenomenological design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving landowners, tenants, village officials, and religious leaders. The data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while validity was ensured through triangulation. The findings show that the leasing practice generally fulfills the pillars and conditions of an ijarah contract, including competent contracting parties, a clearly identified leased object, agreed benefits, and rental payment (ujrah). However, unclear payment schedules and delayed installments may create minor uncertainty (gharar yasir). These issues have not resulted in significant disputes because the practice is widely accepted as 'urf shahih. Therefore, the deposit payment system is considered valid according to fiqh muamalah, provided that contractual clarity, justice, mutual consent, and good faith are maintained.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of digital picture media on the beginning reading ability of first-grade students at SD Negeri 105288 Sei Rotan in the 2025/2026 academic year. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population consisted of 41 students selected through a total sampling technique, including 21 students in the experimental class and 20 students in the control class. Data were collected through reading ability tests, observations, and documentation. The research instrument was tested for validity and reliability, resulting in 15 valid items with a reliability coefficient of 0.745. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and an Independent Sample t-test. The results showed that the average pretest score of the experimental class was 49 and increased to 86 in the posttest, while the control class increased from 48.4 to 72.3. The hypothesis test results showed that the tcount was 5.675 > ttable 2.023 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. Therefore, digital picture media had a significant effect on students’ beginning reading ability. Digital picture media effectively improved students’ abilities in recognizing letters, reading syllables, words, and simple sentences.

Abstract

IPS lessons at secondary school level still rely heavily on traditional teaching materials such as LKS and printed books, resulting in lessons that are monotonous and less interactive, and which do not connect the material with the real-life experiences of students. This causes students to be less involved in understanding the role of society in the economic chain. This study aims to determine the suitability and response of students to the flipbook teaching material based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) for the topic 'The Role of Society in the Economic Chain' at SMP Labschool Unesa 1 Surabaya. The study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4-D model, which includes the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. Data was collected using observation, interviews, expert validation (media and subject matter experts), and a questionnaire for teachers and students. The data were analysed using descriptive qualitative and descriptive quantitative methods with a Likert scale. The results of the study showed that the flipbook-based CTL teaching material received an average percentage rating of 88% from the media expert and 95% from the subject expert, both in the 'very suitable' category. Additionally, the response of the students in the small-scale trial was 81% with a very good rating, while the response of the students in the large-scale trial and the teachers was 98% with a very good rating. The conclusion of this study is that the CTL-based flipbook teaching material meets the criteria for suitability and can be used as a teaching material for the 'Peranan Masyarakat Dalam Rantai Ekonomi' (The Role of Society in the Economic Chain) subject. It is recommended that future research expands the development of teaching materials to include other aspects of the curriculum and that they are tested on a larger scale to assess their effectiveness.

Abstract

DBOX Arena Padangpanjang is the first modern culinary and sports tourism destination in Padangpanjang City, West Sumatra, integrating a mini soccer field, futsal court, a cafe (Nagura Coffee), and a children's playground amid a natural rice-field landscape. Having operated only since December 2023, DBOX Arena has not yet possessed an optimal photography-based visual identity for its branding and promotion. This creative work aims to produce a series of commercial photographs through a corporate photography approach to build a professional image and communicate DBOX Arena's facilities comprehensively to the public. The creation method consisted of a preparation stage (site observation, interviews, and visual concept sketching), an execution stage (field photo shoots), and a post-production stage (editing, selection, cropping, and colour grading). Shooting was carried out both indoors and outdoors using a mix-lighting technique and aerial photography with a drone to capture the site's geographical beauty. Supporting theories applied include photographic composition theory, corporate photography theory, and digital-imaging theory. The project produced 52 selected photographic works (single and series photographs). By using one consistent family model, the photographs convey a narrative of warmth, togetherness, happiness, and safety in family recreational activities at DBOX Arena. Through the architectural visualisation of the building, the culinary offerings, staff interaction, and the site's aesthetic panorama, this corporate photography work is expected to strengthen the company's brand identity, enrich the academic literature on commercial photography, and serve as an effective marketing medium in digital and print form.

Abstract

Paragraph structure and development are essential aspects of academic writing because they contribute to the creation of scholarly works that are systematic, coherent, and easy to understand. The ability to construct effective paragraphs enables writers to communicate ideas clearly, logically, and purposefully, thereby achieving the objectives of academic communication. This article aims to review various studies and references on paragraph structure and development in academic writing and to analyze their contribution to improving the quality of scholarly works. The method employed is a literature review by examining relevant academic sources, including books, journals, research articles, and other scholarly references. The collected data were analyzed descriptively to identify key concepts related to paragraph structure and development techniques. The findings indicate that paragraph structure, consisting of a topic sentence, supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence, plays a crucial role in establishing unity, coherence, and logical connections among ideas within a text. Furthermore, paragraph development through various patterns, such as exemplification, cause-and-effect, comparison, definition, classification, and chronological order, helps clarify ideas, strengthen arguments, and improve the readability and effectiveness of academic writing. The proper application of paragraph structure also enables readers to comprehend information more systematically and supports effective message delivery. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of paragraph structure and development can serve as an important factor in enhancing the quality of academic writing in terms of clarity, organization, and effectiveness of scholarly communication.
