Abstract

This study aimed to improve the ability of tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 4 Kisaran to analyze the linguistic features of observation report texts through the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Wordwall. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in three stages: pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. The subjects were 36 tenth-grade students, while the object of the study was students’ ability to analyze linguistic features, including definition sentences, descriptive sentences, the preposition “di,” and the prefix “di-.” Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed a gradual improvement in students’ learning outcomes. The average score increased from 62.50 in the pre-cycle to 75.69 in Cycle I and 86.67 in Cycle II. The percentage of students achieving mastery also increased from 30.56% in the pre-cycle to 75.00% in Cycle I and 94.44% in Cycle II. These findings indicate that the implementation of PBL assisted by Wordwall can improve students’ ability to identify, distinguish, and analyze the linguistic features of observation report texts. PBL encouraged students to actively analyze problems and discuss findings, while Wordwall provided interactive activities that reinforced their understanding. Therefore, PBL assisted by Wordwall can be used as an alternative learning approach for teaching the linguistic features of observation report texts.

Abstract

This study aims to explore mathematical concepts embedded in the cultural heritage. of the Nias people—specifically in the Batu Islands and Tello Island—through an ethnomathematical analysis of the Cucufi, a container for rice and betel nut used in local daily life. Ethnomathematics is a field of study that links mathematical concepts. with the activities, knowledge, practices, and cultural heritage of a community. This approach is significant in mathematics education because it connects abstract concepts with students' real-life experiences and cultural environments, thereby making learning more contextual, meaningful, and accessible. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with an ethnographic approach. Data were gathered. through observation, interviews, documentation, and an examination of the Cucufi's manufacturing process and physical form. The Cucufi is a cultural artifact woven from the dried, flattened, and dyed stems of a swamp plant known in the Nias language as Sinasa (Eleocharis dulcis), utilizing traditional weaving techniques. Analysis involved identifying the activities, patterns, shapes, dimensions, and geometric structures of the Cucufi and relating them to mathematical concepts, particularly those concerning two-dimensional shapes. The exploration reveals that The Cucufi's form and creation process embody geometric concepts that can serve as a context for mathematics instruction. The findings indicate that the Cucufi Cultural heritage holds potential as an ethnomathematics-based learning resource. helping students grasp mathematical concepts through cultural experiences relevant to their lives. Furthermore, culture-based learning has the potential to boost learning motivation, deepen conceptual understanding, and foster an appreciation for the preservation of the Nias community's local cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE) on firm value in infrastructure-sector companies in the construction and engineering subsector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during 2021–2025. The study uses a quantitative approach with an associative research method and secondary data obtained from annual financial reports and capital-market data. The sample consists of eight companies selected through purposive sampling, with five years of observation, resulting in 40 observations. Firm value is measured using Price to Book Value (PBV), while ROA and ROE are used as independent variables. Data analysis includes descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination. The results show that ROA has a positive and significant effect on firm value, while ROE has a negative and significant effect. Simultaneously, ROA and ROE have a significant effect on firm value. The coefficient of determination indicates that the model explains 68.1% of the variation in firm value based on Adjusted R Square, while the remaining variation is explained by factors outside the model.

Abstract

Praperadilan is one of the legal institutions in Indonesia's criminal justice system that serves as an internal oversight mechanism for actions taken by law enforcement officials. This study analyzes the function of praperadilan in supervising coercive actions such as arrest, detention, termination of investigation and prosecution, as well as compensation and rehabilitation for suspects. The research method used is normative legal research with a statutory approach, conceptual approach, and case approach. The results show that praperadilan has a strategic position as a control mechanism to prevent abuse of authority by law enforcement officials. However, in practice, praperadilan faces various obstacles including limited scope of examination, absence of a clear burden of proof arrangement, and the dependence of praperadilan judges on information submitted by law enforcement officials. The effectiveness of praperadilan is also hampered by the absence of follow-up mechanisms against decisions that grant praperadilan requests. This study recommends the need for strengthening the institutional and procedural aspects of praperadilan in the context of the new Criminal Procedure Code reform to make praperadilan function more optimally as an oversight mechanism in the criminal justice system.
