Abstract

Leadership plays an important role in maintaining smooth operations and supporting employee performance effectiveness in a pharmacy work environment. In daily work, effective leadership is needed to ensure that tasks are clearly understood, responsibilities are properly distributed, and work-related challenges can be addressed appropriately. This study aims to describe the role of operational leadership in supporting employee performance effectiveness at Apotek Mentari. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through semi-structured interviews involving four informants: the pharmacy head (I1), pharmacist (I2), pharmacy technician (I3), and pharmacy staff member (I4). The data were analyzed through coding, categorization, and thematic analysis to identify patterns emerging from the informants’ experiences. The findings show that operational leadership at Apotek Mentari is reflected in clear task direction, distribution of responsibilities according to employee capabilities, open communication, constructive supervision, performance evaluation, and responsive support when employees face work-related challenges. Clear communication and cooperation among employees were identified as supporting factors for effective performance, while busy operational conditions and increased workloads were found to be inhibiting factors in daily work. Overall, operational leadership supports employee performance through clear guidance, open communication, and responsive problem-solving. The study recommends maintaining and strengthening existing leadership practices, particularly by implementing a more structured and regular performance evaluation system to support continuous improvement in employee performance and operational effectiveness. These practices can help the pharmacy maintain smooth operations while providing employees with clearer guidance, appropriate support, and opportunities to improve their performance through regular evaluation and communication.

Abstract

Reading skill is one of the essential language skills in Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level because it plays an important role in helping students obtain, understand, process, and interpret information from various types of texts. However, students’ reading ability is not limited to reading fluency but also includes the ability to identify main ideas, find supporting information, draw conclusions, and respond to texts. Therefore, reading instruction needs to be systematically designed by considering the types, stages, and reading strategies that are appropriate to students’ characteristics. This study aims to examine reading skills in Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level, particularly in relation to types of reading, stages of reading, and reading instructional strategies. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by examining relevant scientific journal articles and academic books, particularly publications from 2021 to 2026. The data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively through the processes of identification, selection, extraction, and synthesis of the literature. The results show that reading skills develop gradually from beginning reading to reading comprehension. The reading process can be conducted through three stages: pre-reading, while-reading, and post-reading. Various strategies, such as Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA), SQ4R, KWL, CIRC, BUCS, and 3-2-1, can be used to increase students’ engagement and comprehension of texts. Therefore, systematic reading instruction and the use of strategies appropriate to the learning objectives, text types, and students’ characteristics can support the development of reading skills in elementary schools.

Abstract

The research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of third-grade students in science (IPA) at SDN 01 Sawahan. This condition was caused by students’ lack of focus, limited active participation during the learning process, and difficulties in understanding the material presented by the teacher. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning model assisted by smart board media on the science learning outcomes of third-grade students at SDN 01 Sawahan. The research employed a Quasi-Experimental Design with a Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The population consisted of all third-grade students at SDN 01 Sawahan, comprising 28 students in class III.A and 29 students in class III.B, for a total sample of 57 students. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling. The research instrument was a 20-item multiple-choice test. The research data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, followed by hypothesis testing using the t-test. The results showed that the average learning outcome of the experimental class was 83.93, while that of the control class was 77.59. The hypothesis test resulted in tcount = 2.439 and ttable = 1.673 with 55 degrees of freedom (df). Since tcount = 2.439 > ttable = 1.673, H₁ was accepted and H₀ was rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Discovery Learning model assisted by smart board media has a significant effect on the science learning outcomes of third-grade students at SDN 01 Sawahan.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the less-than-optimal activeness of fifth-grade students during the learning process. Based on preliminary observations, the learning process tended to use lectures, exercises, and assignments, resulting in limited student involvement in learning activities. Meanwhile, the teacher was familiar with the Role Playing method but had not yet implemented it in the fifth-grade classroom. This condition indicates a gap between the expected learning process, which should actively involve students, and the actual learning conditions in the classroom. This research aimed to describe the implementation of the Role Playing learning method in terms of student activeness. This research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive research design. The subjects consisted of 21 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observation using an observation sheet for the implementation of the Role Playing method and an observation sheet for student activeness. The results showed that the implementation of the Role Playing method obtained a score of 39 out of 50, with a percentage of 78%, categorized as good. Student activeness obtained a total score of 624, an average score of 3.71, and a percentage of 74.29%, categorized as active. Of the 21 students, 15 were categorized as active, 4 as fairly active, and 2 as very active.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that the teaching materials used for local culture lessons are still too general and lack a contextual connection to the students’ lives. This situation highlights the need for supplementary teaching materials that are more closely aligned with the students’ environment. The purpose of this study is to develop supplementary teaching materials based on local culture for fourth-grade IPAS lessons at Sekura Public Elementary School 02 and to determine the validity of the developed materials. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) employing the ADDIE development model, limited to three stages: analysis, design, and development. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires, then analyzed using qualitative and quantitative methods with a four-point Likert scale. The development stage included product creation, validation by subject matter experts, language experts, and design experts, as well as revisions based on the validators’ suggestions. The results showed that the supplementary teaching materials were categorized as highly valid, with validity scores of 98.61% from subject matter experts, 97.22% from language experts, and 97.22% from design experts. Thus, the development of a local culture-based teaching supplement in Sambas Regency for the IPAS subject in the fourth grade at Sekura Public Elementary School 02 is deemed highly valid and can be used to support more contextual and meaningful learning for students.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) assisted by Canva to support the development of students’ creativity in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) learning at SMK Negeri 3 Kuningan. The study uses a mixed-method approach with a sequential explanatory design. The quantitative stage is designed as a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest study involving approximately 30 tenth-grade students, while the qualitative stage uses observation and interviews to provide deeper explanations of the learning process and student responses. Data collection includes questionnaires, observation, interviews, field notes, and documentation. The creativity indicators consist of fluency, flexibility, originality, elaboration, and evaluation. The field findings documented in the research materials show that PjBL assisted by Canva was implemented through basic project stages, including determining a driving question, planning, scheduling, project implementation, teacher monitoring, evaluation, and presentation. Observation indicated active student involvement in exploring Canva features, collaborating, and presenting visual products. Interviews also identified initial difficulties in developing original ideas and technical barriers in conventional design software. Canva provided easier access to visual assets and design features, while PjBL gave students greater responsibility for developing projects. The quantitative numerical results were not included in the available research document; therefore, this article does not report invented pretest-posttest statistics.

Abstract

Elementary school teachers are required to act as guides so that abstract mathematical concepts can be understood meaningfully by students. Preliminary observation in class VI of SDN 09 Sungai Ambawang indicated that this role had not been optimally carried out, marked by passive students, confusion when the teacher explained material, and the perception that mathematics is difficult to understand. Previous studies on teachers as guides have focused mainly on spirituality, learning independence in lower grades, or general curriculum implementation, so they have not specifically addressed mathematics learning in upper grades. This study aims to describe in depth the teacher's role as a guide in class VI mathematics learning based on four indicators proposed by Mustafa (2024): formulating goals and competencies, ensuring active student participation, providing meaning and context, and conducting assessment and evaluation. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data from three observation sessions, an interview with the class teacher, and analysis of the teaching module. The results show that the teacher formulated objectives gradually from the concrete to the abstract level, encouraged active participation through Project Based Learning, related the material to contextual objects around Sungai Ambawang, and applied varied assessment accompanied by differentiated feedback. Limitations were found in the use of a single medium (interactive screen) in one session and an assessment rubric that was not yet detailed. This study contributes empirical evidence integrating the theory of the guiding role with Bruner's cognitive stages and the concept of scaffolding within the local context of West Kalimantan.
