Abstract

This research stems from the reality that students at SMP Negeri 7 Muaro Jambi frequently encounter difficulties in social skills. Students often fail to communicate effectively, feel uncertain when interacting with others, and struggle to cooperate with classmates. Social skills play a crucial role in adolescent development as they help children form positive relationships with others. This study aims to improve students' social skills through group guidance services using role-playing techniques. The research method employed is action service research conducted in three cycles, with each cycle consisting of two meetings. The subjects of this study were 7th-grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Muaro Jambi who obtained low scores on the social skills pre-test questionnaire. Data collection methods involved participant observation, questionnaires, and interviews with students, guidance counselors, and homeroom teachers. The results of this study indicate that the use of role-playing techniques in group guidance significantly helps students improve their social skills. Students were able to practice adjusting their behavior to social situations, learn to empathize with others' feelings, and receive direct feedback from group members. A clear difference was observed when comparing the average pre-cycle score of 43% to 85% in the third cycle. This study demonstrates that the use of group guidance with role-playing techniques is an effective way to help students enhance their social skills within the school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the careful attitude in creating mosaic works in art education for third-grade students at SD Negeri 19 Kota Bengkulu. This is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. The subjects of this study were 30 third-grade students divided into six groups. The research instruments were the researcher himself and observation, interviews, and documentation guidelines. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Data validity was obtained by using triangulation techniques and member checks. The results of this study show that students' carefulness in making mosaic artworks can be observed through four indicators, namely: (1) concentration when working or doing something, (2) being careful and not rushing, (3) working or doing activities systematically, (4) working on and completing a task. From the results of observations and interviews, it was found that there were four groups that were able to consistently demonstrate all four indicators during the mosaic-making process. Meanwhile, the other two groups experienced obstacles and difficulties in preparing tools and materials, applying glue, and attaching seeds. Thus, it can be concluded that most students demonstrated a meticulous attitude in making mosaics.

Abstract

Bullying in the school environment remains a serious issue that affects students’ psychological, social, and academic development. This phenomenon indicates that prevention efforts have not been optimally implemented, including the application of teachers’ professional ethics. Teachers, as educators and role models, have a strategic role in building a safe and character-based school culture. This study aims to analyze the optimization of teachers’ professional ethics in creating an anti-bullying school environment. The method used is a qualitative approach through a literature study and descriptive analysis of regulations, the teachers’ code of ethics, and educational practices in schools. The results of the study indicate that strengthening integrity, exemplary behavior, consistency in enforcing rules, and collaboration among teachers, students, and parents are key factors in preventing bullying. The optimization of teachers’ professional ethics functions not only as a moral guideline but also as a strategic instrument in building an inclusive and humane school culture. Therefore, strengthening teachers’ professional ethics needs to be carried out systematically through training, continuous evaluation, and internal school supervision in order to create a safe and dignified educational environment.

Abstract

Literacy is a fundamental foundation for intellectual development and civilization building. In Islamic perspective, literacy is not merely defined as the ability to read and write, but also as a transformative process in the pursuit of knowledge. This article aims to analyze the urgency of literacy in prophetic educational traditions (hadith tarbawi), focusing on reading, writing, and the pursuit of knowledge. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research. Primary data were derived from major hadith collections such as Shahih al-Bukhari and Shahih Muslim, while secondary sources include accredited journals and recent Islamic education books. Data were analyzed using descriptive-analytical and thematic approaches. The findings reveal that hadith tarbawi positions literacy as both a spiritual and social obligation that contributes to character formation and civilizational advancement. Reading and writing traditions function as instruments for knowledge transmission, while the pursuit of knowledge is considered a path toward worldly and eternal success. The concept of literacy in hadith tarbawi remains highly relevant in addressing contemporary digital-era literacy challenges. Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to describe the emotional dynamics of the main character, Ale, in the novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati by Brian Khrisna using David Krech’s theory of emotions. The focus of the study is to identify the forms of emotions experienced by the character based on the categories of guilt, repressed guilt, self-punishment, shame, sadness, hatred, and love. This research employs a literary psychology approach with a qualitative descriptive method. The data consist of narrative excerpts and dialogues that reflect the emotional expressions of the main character. The data were collected through close reading and note-taking techniques and then analyzed based on emotional indicators proposed by Krech. The findings reveal that Ale’s emotional dynamics are predominantly characterized by self-punishment, shame, and sadness. These emotions emerge as a result of bullying, social rejection, and unfair treatment he has experienced since childhood through adulthood. Meanwhile, guilt, repressed guilt, hatred, and love are not portrayed significantly. The study concludes that prolonged social rejection shapes destructive emotional patterns that influence the main character’s self-concept and psychological condition.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low science learning outcomes of elementary school students, particularly on the topic of characteristics of living things. Based on preliminary observations at SDN 066053 Medan Denai, most fourth-grade students had not yet achieved the Minimum Learning Mastery Criteria (KKTP). This condition is influenced by conventional learning practices in which students tend to be passive during the learning process. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the effect of the Talking Stick learning model assisted by KaCiMa (Characteristics of Living Things Cards) media on the science learning outcomes of fourth-grade students. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using the nonequivalent control group design. The population consisted of all fourth-grade students at SDN 066053 Medan Denai in the 2025/2026 academic year, totaling 44 students. The sample included two classes, namely class IV-B as the experimental class that applied the Talking Stick learning model assisted by KaCiMa media and class IV-A as the control class that used the Snowball Throwing learning model. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. The research instrument consisted of 25 multiple-choice test items that had been tested for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discrimination power. Data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and hypothesis testing using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that the application of the Talking Stick learning model assisted by KaCiMa media had a significant effect on improving students’ science learning outcomes on the topic of characteristics of living things.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ understanding of basic arithmetic operations in mathematics through the application of concrete teaching aids in the form of the Jarimatika Snake and Ladder game for fourth-grade students at SDN Bhaktikarya. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of this study were 21 fourth-grade students of SDN Bhaktikarya. Data were collected through observations of students’ understanding and learning evaluation tests. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis by calculating the class average score, the percentage of learning mastery, and the percentage of students’ understanding in each cycle. The results showed that the implementation of the Jarimatika Snake and Ladder concrete teaching aid improved students’ understanding of basic arithmetic operations. The average score increased from 54 in the pre-cycle to 70.19 in Cycle I, and further increased to 83.67 in Cycle II. In Cycle II, 86% of students achieved scores ≥80, while 14% of students obtained scores between 75–79, indicating that all students had reached the minimum mastery criterion. In addition, the percentage of students’ understanding based on observation increased from 65.08% in Cycle I to 82.94% in Cycle II. These results indicate that the use of educational game-based learning media such as the Jarimatika Snake and Ladder is effective in improving elementary school students’ understanding of basic arithmetic operations in mathematics.
