Abstract

This study aims to describe the emotional dynamics of the main character, Ale, in the novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati by Brian Khrisna using David Krech’s theory of emotions. The focus of the study is to identify the forms of emotions experienced by the character based on the categories of guilt, repressed guilt, self-punishment, shame, sadness, hatred, and love. This research employs a literary psychology approach with a qualitative descriptive method. The data consist of narrative excerpts and dialogues that reflect the emotional expressions of the main character. The data were collected through close reading and note-taking techniques and then analyzed based on emotional indicators proposed by Krech. The findings reveal that Ale’s emotional dynamics are predominantly characterized by self-punishment, shame, and sadness. These emotions emerge as a result of bullying, social rejection, and unfair treatment he has experienced since childhood through adulthood. Meanwhile, guilt, repressed guilt, hatred, and love are not portrayed significantly. The study concludes that prolonged social rejection shapes destructive emotional patterns that influence the main character’s self-concept and psychological condition.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low science learning outcomes of elementary school students, particularly on the topic of characteristics of living things. Based on preliminary observations at SDN 066053 Medan Denai, most fourth-grade students had not yet achieved the Minimum Learning Mastery Criteria (KKTP). This condition is influenced by conventional learning practices in which students tend to be passive during the learning process. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the effect of the Talking Stick learning model assisted by KaCiMa (Characteristics of Living Things Cards) media on the science learning outcomes of fourth-grade students. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using the nonequivalent control group design. The population consisted of all fourth-grade students at SDN 066053 Medan Denai in the 2025/2026 academic year, totaling 44 students. The sample included two classes, namely class IV-B as the experimental class that applied the Talking Stick learning model assisted by KaCiMa media and class IV-A as the control class that used the Snowball Throwing learning model. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. The research instrument consisted of 25 multiple-choice test items that had been tested for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discrimination power. Data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and hypothesis testing using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that the application of the Talking Stick learning model assisted by KaCiMa media had a significant effect on improving students’ science learning outcomes on the topic of characteristics of living things.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of a culture of tolerance and peace from an Islamic perspective through the Rahmatan lil 'Alamin approach and its relevance in realizing world peace. This study departs from the thoughts of Shaykh Al-Zaytun, who emphasized that religion essentially aims to bring happiness, peace, and harmony to all humanity without distinction of religious, cultural, or national background. The study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical library research method. Data sources were obtained from religious texts, historical documents such as the Medina Charter and the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, as well as various scientific literature relevant to peace education, cultural diplomacy, and interfaith dialogue. Data analysis was conducted through the content analysis method with the stages of data reduction, thematic classification, interpretation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that a culture of tolerance is the main foundation in building sustainable peace at the national and international levels. Peace education based on Rahmatan lil 'Alamin values has proven to play a strategic role in shaping the character of an inclusive, moderate, and diversity-respecting society. The implementation of tolerance values through educational institutions, particularly Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), can serve as an instrument of social transformation by instilling a dialogical and non-violent attitude. Furthermore, cultural diplomacy and interfaith dialogue serve as forms of soft power in international relations, encouraging global cooperation without conflict. The values of Pancasila and the principles of the Medina Charter demonstrate the harmony between Islamic teachings and modern constitutions in creating a peaceful pluralistic society. Therefore, the integration of Rahmatan lil 'Alamin (blessing for the universe) values into education, social policy, and international relations is a crucial strategy for realizing a just and sustainable world peace.

Abstract

Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning is often considered challenging and uninteresting for elementary school students. The Game Based Learning (GBL) model has emerged as an innovative solution to increase student motivation and understanding. This study aims to describe the implementation of the GBL model and the obstacles encountered in IPAS learning among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Jombor 03 Sukoharjo. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study collected data through observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation studies. Data validity was strengthened by triangulation techniques. The results show that the implementation of GBL went through the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation by utilizing various educational games. The application of this model succeeded in creating a fun and interactive learning atmosphere, as evidenced by increased enthusiasm, active questioning, and ease of understanding the material by students. However, there were major obstacles in the form of limited facilities and infrastructure as well as suboptimal time management. These findings confirm that GBL is effective in increasing learning motivation, but requires careful planning to overcome technical challenges in the field.
