Abstract

ABSTRACT Indonesia's cultural diversity needs to be preserved through education by integrating local wisdom into the learning process. However, learning activities in schools are often less contextual because they do not adequately consider students' cultural backgrounds. This study aimed to describe the implementation of Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) based on Javanese local wisdom and to identify students' responses and engagement during the learning process. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The study was conducted in Grade IV of SD Negeri Randusari involving 16 students. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and learning reflection, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that CRT was implemented by integrating Javanese local wisdom into Indonesian language learning through the use of the traditional song Suwe Ora Jamu, culture-based learning media, and learning activities connected to students' cultural experiences. The implementation of CRT created contextual and meaningful learning experiences. Students showed positive responses and active engagement during learning activities, including group discussions, problem-solving, presentations, and reflections. In addition, the integration of local culture contributed to the development of cultural awareness and appreciation of local cultural heritage. Therefore, CRT based on Javanese local wisdom can serve as an effective learning approach to create active, meaningful, and culturally responsive learning in elementary schools. Abstract

This study aimed to improve the ability of children aged 4–5 years to recognize and distinguish letter forms, as well as to increase their learning interest at TK Tenera, North Bengkulu. The subjects of this study were 23 children. The learning media used was the Hungry Letter Card game, a brightly colored box-shaped medium containing uppercase and lowercase letters with a slot at the top. Through this game, children were asked to insert picture cards into the appropriate letter box based on the initial sound of each picture. The use of this medium was based on the concept of early literacy, which emphasizes that letter recognition is an important foundation for the development of children’s reading skills. Concrete, visual, and attractive media are also considered appropriate for the characteristics of early childhood learners because they can help improve children’s understanding, memory, and active participation in learning. This study employed Classroom Action Research using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles. The results showed an improvement in children’s abilities, from an average of 48% in the Developing category in Cycle I to 85% in the Very Well Developed category in Cycle II. Therefore, the Hungry Letter Card game is effective in improving children’s ability to recognize and distinguish letters, while also making the learning process more concrete, enjoyable, and meaningful for early childhood learners.

Abstract

Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) plays an important role in developing students' motor skills through various physical activities. One of the scientific approaches that can support the improvement of motor skills is biomechanics, which examines human movement based on mechanical principles. This study aims to analyze the contribution of biomechanics to the improvement of students' motor skills in PJOK learning. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach using a literature review method. Data were collected through relevant references related to biomechanics, motor skills, and PJOK learning. The analysis was conducted through the stages of data identification, classification, evaluation, and synthesis. The results indicate that the application of biomechanical principles supports the improvement of movement quality, body coordination, balance, movement efficiency, and mastery of basic motor skills. Biomechanics also helps students understand proper movement techniques, reduce movement errors, and perform physical activities more safely. The integration of biomechanical principles in PJOK learning can support more effective learning processes and optimize the development of students' motor skills. Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of biomechanical concepts in teaching basic football techniques in secondary schools. Biomechanics is used to help students understand the principles of body movement in performing basic techniques such as passing, dribbling, and shooting. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation during physical education learning activities. The results show that the application of biomechanical concepts helps students understand body position, balance, movement angles, and body coordination in performing basic football techniques. Students are able to correct their movement errors and improve their technical skills. Biomechanics-based learning also makes the learning process more meaningful because students do not only imitate movements but also understand the scientific principles behind each technique.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the faith development of older adults through choir ministry at GKJ Petoran based on James W /. Fowler’s theory of faith development. The research is motivated by the phenomenon of elderly church members who remain actively involved in ministry despite age-related limitations, making it important to examine its relationship with faith development. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving seven active members of the Adiyuswa Choir at GKJ Petoran. The findings indicate that participants perceive choir ministry as an expression of gratitude, a form of devotion to God, and a meaningful way to embody their faith in daily life. Participation in the choir community also contributes to spiritual growth through fellowship, reflection on life experiences, and deeper engagement with sacred music. Interpreted through Fowler’s framework, the participants predominantly demonstrate characteristics of the conjunctive faith stage, reflected in greater spiritual reflection, acceptance of life’s complexities, deeper trust in God, and the practical expression of faith through service. The study concludes that choir ministry functions not only as a form of church participation but also as an important context for nurturing and strengthening the faith of older adults.

Abstract

This study analyzes the representation of youth anxiety in the song "Kami Khawatir, Kawan" ("We're Worried, Friend") by Hindia using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method, collecting data through observation and documentation of the song lyrics and music video. The analysis is conducted through Barthes' three levels of signification: denotation, connotation, and myth. The results reveal that the song represents various forms of anxiety experienced by young people, including family conflict, emotional and financial pressure, the desire to escape from problems, mental instability, and the search for a safe space to find peace. At the mythological level, the song constructs a critique of modern social norms that demand young people to always be independent and resilient. This study concludes that the song functions not only as a musical work but also as a communication medium that represents the social and emotional reality of contemporary youth.

Abstract

This article offers an epistemological critique of the uncritical adoption of Total Quality Management (TQM) in Islamic educational institutions (madrasah) in Indonesia. Using a library research method with a critical-analytical approach, this study identifies three fundamental layers of problematic assumptions embedded in TQM: ontological (human as mere resource), epistemological (quality as measurable output), and axiological (customer satisfaction as the ultimate goal). Drawing on decolonization theory (Quijano, Mignolo, de Sousa Santos) and the Islamization of knowledge project (al-Faruqi, al-Attas), this article argues that the adoption of TQM without epistemological reflection constitutes a subtle form of knowledge colonialism that threatens the integrity of Islamic educational goals. As an alternative, this article proposes a conceptual framework grounded in Islamic values—centered on insan kamil, ihsan, falah, and the maqasid al-shari'ah—as a reconstituted basis for quality management in madrasah. This framework does not wholesale reject TQM, but selectively incorporates compatible elements while reorienting their philosophical foundations.
