Abstract

PT ABC is one of the industry that produce ships. In the production of Ship X, PT ABC needs imported materials sent from other country. In the process of loading and unloading these materials, PT ABC encounters operational difficulties that cause demurrage. This study aims to identify the causes of demurrage and provide suggestions for improvements to minimize the occurrence of demurrage in the next loading and unloading process. The method used in this research is the six sigma method which consists of five stages, namely define, measure, analyze, improve, and control. The results showed that there were 10 causes of demurrage in the loading and unloading process of Ship X materials during 2022. In addition, there are 3 most dominant causes of demurrage, namely late receipt of documents (36.84%), document discrepancies (15.79%), and waiting for the signature of related parties (10.53%). The recommended actions to minimize the occurrence of demurrage include implementing more efficient SOP and improving communication between internal and external stakeholders.

Abstract

Every laundry business owner certainly wants to know how far the business they have run has developed. To find out this, a business feasibility study is needed that looks at the aspects of revenue and total costs. However, unfortunately, business actors do not carry out business feasibility study calculations. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the extent of business development in the coming period. The approach used is Monte Carlo simulation to calculate the amount of revenue in the future period and the R/C ratio is calculated and the actual condition results are also calculated by the R/C ratio to obtain comparative results. Based on the R/C ratio results with simulation revenue results, it shows that the laundry business in February and April was above 1, which means it experienced a profit and vice versa, with actual conditions in February and March below 1, which means it experienced a loss.

Abstract

Company PT. XYZ, which operates in the agro-industrial sector, especially processing cane sugar, is currently facing problems in managing product demand and supply. The traditional methods used by companies often cause a mismatch between available stock and market demand, resulting in increased operational costs and disruption in the distribution process. This research proposes the application of the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) and Inventory Routing Problem (IRP) models as a solution to overcome this problem. By optimizing distribution routes and managing inventory more efficiently, PT. XYZ is expected to improve its supply chain performance, reduce costs, and increase customer satisfaction. However, implementing this model requires quite large investments and good data quality. Therefore, companies need to carry out careful and gradual planning in implementing this solution.

Abstract

PT XYZ, is a construction and steel fabrication company that has contributed to various national and international projects. One of its products is insulation pillows, used in a wide range of industrial applications. The study aims to measure standard time and analyze workload in the production process of insulation pillows at PT XYZ. Standard time measurement was conducted using the Stopwatch Time Study method for five main production stages: Marking Cutting, bending, fit-up, assembling, and packing. The results indicate that the standard times for each process are as follows: Marking Cutting (35.46 minutes/unit), bending (19.26 minutes/unit), fit-up (110.50 minutes/unit), assembling (168.26 minutes/unit), and packing (117.83 minutes/unit). Workload analysis revealed that the assembling process has an excessive workload of 175%, necessitating the addition of one worker to achieve optimal workload distribution. These findings provide recommendations for workforce optimization in the production process to enhance efficiency and meet production targets

Abstract

Indonesia has experienced significant growth in manufacturing investments, particularly in the non-oil and gas processing sector. One of the main challenges faced is the high cost of quality, arising from production defects and waste, which can reduce both profitability and competitiveness. This research aims to analyze the influence of understanding the values of Pancasila and the principles of Continuous Improvement (CI) on the implementation of cost reduction strategies to minimize quality costs resulting from production defects at PT. X. The study employs a quantitative approach with a survey method, using a Likert scale questionnaire administered to a sample of 76 employees out of a total population of 302 employees. The results indicate that both the understanding of Pancasila values (X1) and CI (X2) together significantly impact the implementation of cost reduction strategies, contributing 64.6% to the variation in the dependent variable. Individually, the CI variable has a dominant effect (β = 0.426; p < 0.05) compared to the Pancasila values (β = 0.127; p < 0.05). CI strategies, based on the PDCA cycle and Lean tools, have been shown to enhance operational efficiency, while Pancasila values foster an ethical and collaborative work culture.

Abstract

Increased demand and quality pressures are affecting businesses, as experienced by an Egg Laying Chicken Farming, a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) Poultry Farm located in Salo Subdistrict, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. Previously, performance evaluations were solely based on monthly egg product sales. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the potential and constraints, and to prioritize strategies for business owners by comprehensively measuring business performance, thus allowing for the provision of suitable strategic recommendations. The measurement model is based on several indicators such as Productivity of Laying Hens, Effective Working Hours, Ratio of defect product, Equipment Productivity, and Productivity of Labor Involved, using the Objective Matrix (OMAX) method. The measurement results are analyzed using the Traffic Light System (TLS) to identify the ratio of indicators that fall below the standards set by the business owner, allowing for further analysis to obtain useful strategic recommendations for future productivity improvement.

Abstract

In implementing construction projects, the benchmark for project success can be seen from short and timely completion times with minimal costs without forgetting the quality of the work. This study aims to identify the optimal time and cost for the project. The research was conducted on the construction of the Sidoarjo Regional Hospital's Integrated Central Building, which has a target completion time of 194 calendar days and is planned to be finished within 28 weeks. Field data revealed a delay of 5.06% between the 7th and 10th weeks, with actual progress reaching 8.80% compared to the planned 13.86%. These delays negatively impacted the quality of work. To address this issue, an acceleration method (crashing) was applied, using the alternative of extended working hours (overtime) with variations of 1 hour, 2 hours, and 3 hours. The research findings indicated that the optimal overtime increase is 3 hours, reducing the project duration from 194 days to 181 days, an acceleration of 13 days. The total project cost was calculated at Rp. 62,632,208,400.99, reflecting a cost reduction of Rp. 159.417.559,01 compared to the normal cost of Rp. 62,791,626,000.00

Abstract

Sebuah gudang merupakan suatu faktor penting dalam logistik dan mempunyai peran vital dalam mengontrol dan mengurangi biaya logistik. Secara umum operasional pada gudang terdiri dari lima fungsi dasar, yaitu: receiving, sorting, storing, order picking dan delivering. Kecepatan pada order picking merupakan faktor penting untuk kepuasan pelanggan. Maka mempersingkat waktu order picking merupakan hal yang penting. Order Picking yang paling sederhana adalah saat produk yang dibutuhkan pelanggan hanya terletak pada satu rak saja, sehingga picker hanya perlu bergera dari titik awal menuju ke titik rak dimana produk berada. Permasalahan penentuan rute terpendek antara dua titik dapat didefinisikan sebagai Shortest Path Problem. Dijkstra’s Algorithm merupakan algoritma yang paling populer dalam menyelesaikan Shortest Path Problem. Untuk menyelesaikan Shortest Path Problem dengan Dijkstra’s Algorithm diperlukan sebuah tool yang dapat membantu menyelesaikan perhitungannya. Microsoft Excel merupakan salah satu tool yang sangat populer dan mudah digunakan untuk menyelesaikan berbagai perhitungan. Dengan mengkombinasikan berbagai formula yang terdapat pada Microsoft Excel terbukti bahwa perhitungan Dijkstra’s Algorithm untuk menyelesaikan Shortest Path Problem dapat dilakukan dengan baik.

Abstract

Improving product quality is one of the important factors in facing industrial competition, especially in the White Crystal Sugar (GKP) production sector. PT XYZ, as one of the GKP producers, faces challenges in maintaining the consistency of its product quality according to applicable standards. This study aims to assess the quality of the production process at PT.XYZ by utilizing the Statistical Quality Control (SQC) method through the use of a p-control map (P-Chart) to measure the proportion of defective products. The analysis was conducted on 29 production samples. The results show that the production process is in statistical control, with an average defect proportion of 0.006984, where all points are between the upper control limit (UCL = 0.008769) and the lower control limit (LCL = 0.005199). The defect rate found is very small, less than 0.1%. The total defects reached 3279 kg GKP, consisting of color defects of 1155 kg (35.22%), moisture content of 1091 kg (33%), and cleanliness of 1033 kg (32%). Based on the fishbone diagram, the defects were caused by workers, machines, operational methods, and production materials. In conclusion, the application of the SQC method is effective in identifying and controlling factors that affect the quality of GKP at PT XYZ.

Abstract

The problem of urban waste in Indonesia is a problem that has not been completely solved, it also occurs in the Tanjung Perak Port area. This problem can be overcome by regulating the process of moving and transporting waste based on optimal routes. The purpose of this study is to analyze the waste transportation system in several Depots (TPS) in the Tanjung Perak Port area and compare the transportation cost needs in each waste transportation pattern to find the most optimal route. The stages carried out are to collect data on the distance of the Pool to each Depo/TPS, the distance between TPS, and the distance of each TPS to the Benowo Landfill. The application of the Dynamic programming Algorithm is used to determine the shortest distance, and calculate the minimum operational cost. The results of the study show that the Dynamic programming algorithm can determine the optimal route for the problem of waste transportation routes at each TPS at Tanjung Perak Port with the number of Dump trucks as many as 1 vehicle and the calculation of fuel cost needs per day of Rp.88,413,-.
