Abstract

As a company engaged in the plastic sack manufacturing sector, PT. XYZ is highly dependent on plastic pellets as the main material in its production activities. Currently, the company’s raw material inventory planning is inefficient, necessitating improvements in inventory control. One effective method to address this is Linear Programming, which supports decision-making by optimizing the allocation of resources such as machinery, labor, capital, time, capacity, and materials. In this case, PT. XYZ procures raw materials from two suppliers with varying capacities and costs while facing storage limitations. The study focuses on minimizing raw material purchasing expenses. Findings reveal that sourcing solely from the first supplier, with a purchase volume of 1,577,852 kg, results in the lowest cost of Rp 4.141.861.464,54. Utilizing Linear Programming led to a cost reduction of Rp 1,621,664,213.62 compared to previous procurement strategies

Abstract

MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) are crucial to Indonesia's economy. However, limited resources and suboptimal management remain key challenges for business sustainability. This study aims to optimize tofu production in Yogyakarta’s MSMEs using the linear programming method, specifically the simplex method. The research focuses on three constraints: soybeans, salt, and working hours, with the goal of maximizing profit through an efficient combination of white tofu and Magel tofu production. Data was collected through field interviews and analyzed using the simplex method with POM/QM. The results show that the business needs to produce 14 buckets of white tofu (~1,400 pcs) and 6 buckets of Magel tofu (~600 pcs) to achieve maximum revenue of IDR 2,176,146. Sensitivity analysis on increasing Magel tofu prices did not affect the optimal solution within the tolerance range. This research offers empirical insights for MSME decision-making and theoretical contributions to linear programming applications in creative industry.

Abstract

Work sampling is a work measurement method to determine the proportion of time spent in various work system activities, either by humans, machines, or processes. This study identifies the proportion of productive and non-productive activities and determines the standard time as a basis for improving work effectiveness, especially in the activities of sewing operators. The work sampling method was used with 69 random observations over eight working hours of one operator. Analysis involved statistical calculation of proportion distribution, rating factor, allowance, as well as cycle, normal, and standard time. The results showed that 81,16% of the activities performed were productive with a standardized time of 179,79 minutes per work cycle. The idle time level was recorded at 18,84%. This finding indicates that the observed work system still leaves potential for improvement in unproductive time. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of implementing work sampling as a method to design data-driven work system improvements, in order to increase overall work productivity and efficiency.

Abstract

Products or services must be of high quality. This can make consumers satisfied and remain loyal to the goods or services produced. PT. Indo-Bharat Rayon is the first factory to produce Viscose Rayon Staple Fibers in Indonesia. However, in the process of making Viscose solution based on the results of Ball Fall value testing in March-June 2025, an Out-of-control test was found. The existence of Out-of-control test results is a strong indication of problems in quality control in the Viscose solution manufacturing process. Seeing the problems that occur, an analysis using the Statistical Process Control (SPC) method needs to be carried out. Based on the X-Chart of the Ball Fall test, the Out-of-control process occurs in data No. 1,4,7, 8,32, 72, 76,80,107,108 and No. 118. Based on the S-Chart, it occurs in data No. 4,7,32,54,80,107,108 and 118. The causes of Out-of-control in Viscose solution include: Human error, Material, Method, Machine, and Environment.

Abstract

The manufacturing industry requires a consistent supply of raw materials to maintain a smooth production process, but inventory control is often a major problem faced by companies. This research focuses on forecasting coal needs at PT X using the time series method as well as proposals for safety stock planning, reorder points, and the application of the optimal Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method. This study aims to determine the comparison of company calculations with EOQ calculations, determine the results of forecasting the amount of coal usage in the next period using time series, and determine the results of calculating the optimal amount of coal orders using the EOQ method. The most optimal EOQ results are 784 tons per order with a more efficient ordering frequency of up to 12 times. The appropriate ARIMA forecasting model is the ARIMA (1,0,1) model with a total coal usage of 6204 tons. From the forecasting of coal usage, the application of the EOQ method is carried out which results in an order quantity of 452 tons of orders at a frequency of 14 times.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Six Sigma method with the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) approach in reducing product defects and improving production quality at PG. XYZ. The main problem in sugar production is the high level of defects in the form of non-uniform sugar grains and non-uniform sugar color, which has an impact on decreasing efficiency and customer satisfaction. Defect data was analyzed using a control chart (P-Chart), DPMO value calculation, and sigma level to evaluate process stability. The results showed that the production process was not statistically stable, with an average defect rate of 3.65% and a sigma value at level 2.5. The main causes of defects were identified through Fishbone Diagram analysis and obtained from human, machine, method, material, and environmental factors. The proposed solutions include the creation of SOPs, operator training, machine calibration, and routine monitoring and audit systems. This study is expected to be a reference for other sugarcane processing industries in implementing the Six Sigma method to improve product quality and competitiveness.
