Abstract

Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) belongs to the Sterculiaceae family and is a plantation crop originating from South America that is now widely grown in tropical regions. Cocoa is used in parts of the fruit such as the skin, pulp, and seeds. Cocoa is a strategic export commodity for Indonesia that generates foreign exchange, but it cannot be denied that the industry is still hampered, resulting in the import of cocoa in finished products. The cocoa development activities conducted in Bontula Village involve local farmers engaged in monoculture farming. The cocoa cultivation in Bontula Village is the result of vegetative propagation using grafting techniques. The activity began with education on the types of cocoa, followed by planting in the community's plantation, which is a demonstration plot. Cocoa development in Bontula Village involves farmers who previously practiced monoculture. Development is carried out through vegetative propagation using grafting techniques. The activity began with education on cocoa types and cultivation techniques, followed by planting on community farmland as a demonstration plot. The results of the activity showed an increase in community awareness of cocoa planting and maintenance, with a plant survival rate of 100%. Abstract

ABSTRACTThis community engagement project focuses on strengthening legal capacity in rural communities through paralegal training in Molamahu Village, Pulubala District, Gorontalo Regency. The program was initiated to address the limited access of rural communities to legal aid due to low legal literacy, distance from formal institutions, and the shortage of lawyers in rural areas. The training employed a participatory approach, including basic legal education, case simulations, and direct mentoring. The findings reveal that paralegal training significantly improves community legal awareness, strengthens public participation in dispute resolution, and fosters the establishment of local legal discussion forums. Village paralegals have proven to be agents of change, bridging communities with the formal legal system while cultivating a restorative and participatory legal culture. This program is recommended for sustainable development through collaboration with legal aid institutions, universities, and village governments to enhance its effectiveness in expanding community access to justice. Keywords : Paralegal, access to justice, law enforcement

Abstract

Teratai Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Katialada Village is a business actor that utilises local potential in the form of skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) by innovating its processed products into nuggets. This community service activity aimed to provide training on the skipjack tuna nugget processing technique and to identify the development of skipjack tuna nuggets within this MSMEs. The methods employed were the approach method, demonstration and training, and evaluation. The results indicated that the nugget production process includes the stages of raw material preparation (filleting, washing), mixing the batter (comminuted fish meat, flour, spices, and binders), moulding, steaming, coating with breadcrumbs, freezing, and packaging. The resulting nugget product has a distinctive savoury skipjack tuna flavour, a soft interior texture yet crispy exterior, and high nutritional value, particularly in protein. However, the challenges faced by MSMEs include limited capital for expansion, the need for a cold chain to maintain the shelf life of frozen products, and competition with commercial chicken nuggets. It is concluded that Teratai MSME's skipjack tuna nuggets have good market prospects as a value-added alternative product. For further development, effective marketing strategies, flavour diversification, and support in terms of capital and preservation technology are needed to enhance competitiveness and business scalability. Abstract

Glut corn is a local commodity with significant potential for development as a value-added food ingredient. However, limited product innovation, technical skills, and marketing strategies remain major challenges for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Mulonegoro Village, Pulubala District, Gorontalo Regency. This community service activity aims to describe the implementation of training in the production of glutinous corn-based processed products and assess its impact on increasing the capacity of MSMEs. The method used was a qualitative participatory approach through preparation, entrepreneurship training, and practice. Participants produced product innovations in the form of glutinous corn sticks, and demonstrated readiness to market their products independently. These findings confirm that local potential-based training can strengthen MSME motivation, increase product competitiveness, and open opportunities for village economic development. In conclusion, utilizing glutinous corn through diversified processed products not only supports the sustainability of MSMEs but can also be a strategy for economic empowerment based on local wisdom. Further research is recommended to explore digital marketing strategies and partnership models that can expand the reach of glutinous corn-based MSME products. Keywords : glutinous corn, msmes, training, processed products

Abstract

The misalignment between Village Regulations (Peraturan Desa—Perdes) and village development planning documents remains a critical challenge in village governance in Indonesia. Inconsistencies among Perdes, the Village Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMDes), the Village Government Work Plan (RKPDes), and the Village Budget (APBDes) often result in unfocused programs and increased legal vulnerability. This community engagement initiative aimed to strengthen the capacity of village officials in implementing Perdes to ensure that development programs are legally grounded and institutionally legitimate. The program was conducted in Bondula and Bihe Villages, Gorontalo Regency, on September 9, 2025, involving 30 village officials. A Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach was employed through an intensive eight-hour training session. Data were collected using pre-test and post-test assessments, participatory observation, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). The findings indicate a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge, with average scores increasing from 4.2 to 7.8 (an 85.7% increase; p < 0.001). Performance indicators exceeded expectations: 100% of participants were able to identify regulatory mandates within Perdes, and 86.7% successfully drafted program proposals aligned with Perdes provisions. Key outputs included four Perdes-based village program drafts with a total budget allocation of IDR 750 million, a synchronization matrix integrating Perdes with RPJMDes–RKPDes–APBDes, and an implementation roadmap. The collaboration between academia and international development programs proved effective in enhancing village governance capacity and demonstrates strong potential for replication to support sustainable rural development in Indonesia. .
