Abstract

Critical thinking skills and the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework have become key issues in contemporary education, especially in Indonesia. Despite advancements in critical thinking education, the integration of technology remains a challenge. This study investigates the impact of TPACK-based image media on the development of students’ critical thinking skills in writing instruction. The research employs a quasi-experimental design using a post-test only, non-equivalent control group approach. The subjects include 5th grade students from two public elementary schools in the southern Surabaya area, comprising an experimental group (38 students) using TPACK-based image media and a control group (36 students) using traditional blackboard media. Data were collected through interviews, observations, document analysis, and tests. Statistical and inferential analyses were applied to assess the data. The findings reveal significant differences between the two groups, with students in the experimental group demonstrating superior critical thinking abilities. The study concludes that TPACK-based image media positively affects students’ critical thinking skills, suggesting that enhancing technological proficiency is crucial for the effective application of this approach. The research implications emphasize the need for integrating digital literacy into critical thinking development in educational settings.

Abstract

Severe mental health disorders remain a global concern due to delayed treatment and the lack of optimal integration between pharmacological and psychosocial interventions, particularly regarding limited understanding of the appropriate role and timing of counseling in supporting long-term recovery. This study aims to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize the role and timing of counseling interventions. A qualitative approach with a conceptual–integrative design in the form of a position paper was employed. The study examined 45 scientific and policy documents, including peer-reviewed journal articles, clinical practice guidelines, reports from global health organizations, and empirical studies on pharmacological and psychosocial interventions. Data were collected through a document analysis method using a structured document analysis matrix as the research instrument, developed based on intervention focus, counseling timing, and recovery outcomes. Data analysis was conducted using thematic and comparative analysis to identify patterns, relationships, and conceptual gaps within the literature. The findings indicate that early and continuous counseling following pharmacological stabilization is more effective in enhancing psychosocial functioning and supporting long-term recovery. The timing and continuity of counseling are key elements in managing severe mental disorders, highlighting the need for early detection, multidisciplinary collaboration, and adaptive counseling models.

Abstract

In the era of Society 5.0, the preservation of local culture faces serious challenges due to the rapid flow of modernization and digitalization. This condition demands an adaptive value transmission strategy to prevent cultural identity from being eroded by developments. This study aims to analyze the role of informal education in strengthening local culture amidst the dynamics of modern society. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with 15 informants, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The subjects of this study were traditional leaders, village elders, parents, local youth, and participants in religious rituals. The results show that informal education takes place actively through family roles, involvement in traditional rituals, and intergenerational collaboration. Cultural values are inherited naturally through social practices without relying on the formal education system or digital technology. These findings confirm that community-based informal education is highly effective in maintaining cultural identity and building social resilience. The implications of this study provide a basis for developing contextual educational strategies relevant to the challenges of the digital era and modernization.

Abstract

The Indonesian education system continues to face fundamental challenges, including low literacy outcomes, the dominance of rote learning, and disparities in teacher competency and distribution. This study aims to analyze the learning policy in depth using the SMART approach. This study employed a qualitative descriptive design with an evaluative approach, using the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) framework as its analytical lens. The research subjects consisted of official policy documents, curriculum guidelines, and academic literature on PM published between 2022 and 2025. Data were collected through document analysis, using a research instrument consisting of a document analysis sheet compiled based on the SMART framework. The results show that the PM policy is conceptually relevant to the demands of 21st-century education and is formulated with specific objectives. However, the policy lacks explicit quantitative indicators, measurable implementation targets, and a detailed operational roadmap. The study concludes that PM can serve as a strategic instrument for education reform only if accompanied by cross-sectoral collaboration, improved teacher policies, and measurable implementation strategies. The implication is that strengthening teacher capacity, recruitment systems, certification, and professional development must be parallel priorities to ensure PM's success in achieving quality education.
