Abstract

The proportion of new leprosy cases with grade 2 disability in Lamongan Regency tends to increase and exceeds the programme target of <5% in 2019-2021. The discovery of new leprosy cases with grade 2 disability will illustrate the delay in early detection, resulting in a decrease in the quality of life of leprosy sufferers. Objective: The purpose of this study is to analyse the problem of delayed case finding of grade 2 disability in Lamongan District. Method: This study was a descriptive observational study. There were 9 informants in this study, namely, 1 person in charge of the leprosy programme at the Health Office, and 8 people in charge of the programme at the Puskesmas level. The methods used in identifying health problems were document study, brainstorming, USG (Urgency, Seriousness, Growth) method, and fishbone diagram. Results: Knowledge has an important role in determining a person's attitude, knowledge shows the intelligence that allows a person to act appropriately, quickly and easily in making decisions. Patients' lack of knowledge about the early symptoms of leprosy leads to inappropriate actions, so there are still new cases of leprosy with grade 2 disability in Lamongan Regency. Not only the patient's knowledge, but good family knowledge is also expected and is able to make appropriate leprosy treatment efforts. Awareness will grow in the family to make treatment efforts if the family has good knowledge. Conclusions: The priority problem in finding new cases of leprosy with grade 2 disability in Lamongan Regency is the lack of knowledge of patients and their families, which results in inappropriate behaviour when experiencing the first symptoms of leprosy.

Abstract

Dietary polyphenols have chemopreventive and protective roles in maintaining human health and disease. Strong antioxidant effects are exhibited by dietary polyphenols and flavonoids against reactive oxygen species (ROS) and cellular oxidative stress (OS), thereby protecting against OS-related pathological conditions or diseases. This study generally aims to see the impact of phenol and bioactive compounds on inflammation in obese individuals. The method used in this study is a literature review. The stages involved in this process encompass identifying the central topic or issue to be discussed, conducting a comprehensive search for pertinent references or literature related to the topic, thoroughly reading, evaluating, and analyzing the literature in alignment with the study objectives, and finally, composing a narrative report that presents the review findings along with a concise summary. The time frame for the analysis was April 2013 to June 2023. A total of 323 publications with phenolic compounds as anti-inflammatory in obese were identified. From the initial 323 studies, 12 studies were selected for final analysis. The search for relevant articles or references will be conducted in the online databases Science Direct, Springer, Wiley Library, PubMed, and Google Scholar. The keywords used to search for references are obesity, inflammation, phenol compounds, bioactive compounds, antioxidants, and antioxidants. This literature review found that out of the 12 articles reviewed, 12 had similarities, stating that interventions with different doses of phenol compounds can reduce inflammatory cytokines in obesity with different periods. Overall, antioxidant bioactive compounds regulate pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines, reduce oxidative stress by decreasing the accumulation of reactive oxygen species, and enhance antioxidant capacity and gene expression to prevent DNA damage in obese individuals.

Abstract

Depression is a major global contributor to disability, particularly among women, with antenatal depression emerging as a leading source of health problems in this group. Recognizing risk factors is critical for early detection and prevention strategies. This study explores the correlation between antenatal depression and factors such as risky pregnancies, history of child abuse, financial difficulties, marital conflict, and pregnancy status in Surabaya. Method: The case-control study, which took place from May to July 2019 at Jagir and Tanah Kali Kedinding Public Health Centers, included 58 pregnant women. The findings indicate a strong link between antenatal depression and high-risk pregnancies. When additional factors are taken into account, characteristics such as financial difficulties, pregnancy status, marital conflict, and a history of child abuse may lose significance. Caution is urged when interpreting these findings, emphasizing the importance of considering the clinical situation

Abstract

Hypertension causes high morbidity (sickness) and mortality (death). Hypertension occurs as a result of interactions and various risk factors that a person has. Multiple studies have linked various risk factors to the emergence of hypertension. The research aims to determine the Essential Hypertension strategy through a risk factor approach at the Asy-Asyifa Clinic. The research design used was an analytical study with a case-control study design by selecting cases who suffered from essential hypertension and controls who did not suffer from essential hypertension. Primary data collection was carried out directly by researchers using research instruments in the form of questionnaires. In fact, the results of this study determined that age is related to the incidence of hypertension. The higher the age group, the more often the incidence of hypertension. The results of the Chi-Square statistical test with a value of p = 0.06 mean that there is a significant relationship between obesity and the incidence of hypertension. The results of the Chi-Square statistical test with a value of p = 0.048 mean that there is an essential relationship between people who smoke and the incidence of hypertension. In this study, there was no significant relationship with the Chi-Square statistical test with a value of p = 0.020, meaning that there was a meaningful relationship between people who consumed much salt and the incidence of hypertension. The variables influencing essential hypertension are obesity, salt consumption, and age. The dominant variable that influences essential hypertension at the Asy-Asyifa Clinic in Medan is the obesity variable. Regular exercise and a balanced diet are crucial to maintaining a healthy weight.

Abstract

Pregnancy complications are health problems that occur during pregnancy. These health problems can involve problems with the mother's health, the baby's health or even both. Some pregnant women have health problems that arise during pregnancy, while there are also some women who have health problems before pregnancy which can lead to complications during pregnancy. Therefore, it is important for women to receive health care before and during pregnancy to reduce the risk of pregnancy complications. Objective: To determine the effect of counseling on the level of knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding preventing complications in the Hu'u Poskesdes work area in 2023. Method: The design of this research is a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study was 33 pregnant women respondents. Sampling in this research was carried out using a probability sampling method, namely the random sampling technique providing equal opportunities for each element or member of the population to be selected as a sample. Data collection was carried out by filling out the pre-test and post-test questionnaires after a week of the pre-test, where before being given the post-test intervention was given in the form of counseling through lectures/slides.The analysis used is the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test analysis. Results: From the univariate results before providing education on preventing complications, it was in the good category (15.2%), sufficient (63.6%), poor (21.2%) and after providing education on preventing complications, it was in the good category (54.5%), sufficient. (42.4%), less (3.0%). Attitudes before were positive = 16 (48.5%) and negative = 17 (51.5%), while after attitudes were positive as many as 24 (72.7%) and negative as many as 9 (27.3%). Test the results of the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test analysis with a P-value of knowledge level of 0.01 P of 0.01<0.05 and P-value of attitudes of pregnant women of P=0.046 P of 0.046 <0.05. Conclusions: Counseling has an influence on the level of knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding preventing complications in pregnancy.
