Abstract

This study aims to analyze the assessment skills of prospective biology teachers in developing assessment planning and qualitative test items. The method used is qualitative descriptive, with document analysis sheets and questionnaires as instruments. The study was conducted at a private university in Jakarta, involving 66 students using a saturated sampling technique. The results indicate that the prospective teachers' ability in “Developing Assessment Planning” falls under the “Good” category, while their ability in “Constructing Qualitative Test Items” is categorized as “Very Good.” The highest indicator in assessment planning is “Designing Assessments,” which is categorized as “Very Good” for meeting the minimum percentage criteria. The lowest indicator is “Formulating Competency Achievement Indicators,” which falls under the “Fair” category. The main challenge identified is the lack of understanding of biology assessment that is not yet fully aligned with the existing indicators. Thus, the implications of this study are significant in evaluating the competencies of prospective biology teachers in assessment development and planning. The findings can serve as a basis for developing more comprehensive assessment training programs, particularly to strengthen understanding in formulating competency achievement indicators and other areas needing improvement. Abstract

The background of this research is based on the need to equip santri with the skills to interpret religious texts accurately, given the importance of the yellow book in Islamic education. This study examines the importance of religious knowledge in improving the understanding and practice of Islam, particularly through implementing the Al-Miftah Lil ‘Ulum method at PPA Ibnu Katsir Putra Jember. This method is used as a framework to improve the ability of students to read the yellow book. This research uses a qualitative case study approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The focus of this research is how the planning, implementation and evaluation of the implementation of the Al-Miftah Lil ‘Ulum method in improving the ability to read the yellowIslamic classic book (PPA) Putra Jember. The research subjects include educators and students involved in the Al-Miftah Lil ‘Ulum method learning program. The results showed that this method is effective in improving the ability to read and understand the yellowIslamic classic book. The process of planning, implementing and evaluating learning is carried out in a structured manner, so that it positively impacts the mastery of the students' Arabic language. This research concludes that a strong Arabic language skill base plays an important role in the mastery of religious knowledge, as well as emphasizing the relevance of traditional Islamic education in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This research aims to assess the degree to which the paradigm of challenge-based learning in conjunction with interactive media, such as Kahoot, influences students' critical thinking skills. Students in the fourth grade at Kradenan State Elementary School who utilize Kahoot interactive media to develop their critical thinking abilities make up the study's population. This research used a quasi-experimental technique using non-equivalent control groups and a quantitative approach. A study sample consisted of two classes, namely class IV of Kradenan State Elementary School, which served as an experimental class with n = 17. As an experimental class, Kradenan State Elementary School had 17 students using the Challenge Learning approach with the use of Kahoot interactive media. In comparison, the control group also had 17 students using Cooperative Learning. A description question that incorporates elements of critical thinking via validity and reliability testing serves as the research tool, via the findings of validity and reliability tests. The findings of the investigation demonstrated that the two classes' critical thinking abilities differed significantly in a good way. Using Kahoot interactive media, the challenge model-based learning model is used. It has a significant impact on pupils' critical thinking abilities. Students' critical thinking abilities. The N-Gain test analysis findings, which revealed 69% (from 56-75%), demonstrate this. The study's findings demonstrate how well the Challenge Learning approach, combined with Kahoot media, enhances foundational education by fostering teamwork, learning dynamics, and students' capacity for critical thinking

Abstract

Chemistry is a natural science discipline focusing on properties, structure, composition, chemical reactions. One of the studies on chemistry learning showed that more than 15.2% of students had difficulty memorising the elements in the periodic table. This is due to the many elements and ineffective learning methods. So, an interactive and fun learning method is needed. One of them is the WEIT (What Element Is That?) educational game, which is an innovation of the current game, Guess Who?. This research applies the R&D approach to the 4D development model and uses a quasi-experimental design. This research was conducted at SMAN 7 Padang, MAN 3 Padang City, & SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium Padang State University. The validity test obtained a validity value of 0.936 (valid category), with the results of the practicality test. The average value in the three schools is 0.955 (Very practical), 0.934 (Very practical), and 0.855 (Practical). In terms of effectiveness, the normality test was carried out with a p-value on the pretest of the experimental and control classes of 0.143 and 0.150, while on the post-test of the experimental and control classes were 0.149 and 0.168, indicating normally distributed data; t-test with a correlation value in the control class of 0.4221 (sufficient) and a very high value of 0.935 in the experimental class; finally the N-Gain test of the control and experimental classes was 50.07% (less effective) and 74.35% (effective), respectively. This indicates that WEIT games significantly improve students' learning outcomes on Periodic Table of Elements material. In addition, learner responses in the three schools showed a percentage of satisfaction, confirming that the WEIT game received a positive response from learners.

Abstract

The use of social media is often a threat to the character and behavior of adolescents in the current era of disruption. This study examines the impact of social media on adolescents in the digital era from the perspective of Islamic education. Through a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research involved six students of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta who have direct contact with social media, through the stages of interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study show that social media has positive impacts, such as facilitating access to information, building personal branding, and increasing insight, including in Islamic values. However, it also brings negative impacts, such as addiction, spreading false information, cyberbullying, and the FoMO (Fear of Missing Out) phenomenon. In addition, social media platform algorithms often control news information or content to its users that can affect the understanding of users' moral and religious values, so digital literacy and wisdom in filtering social media content are needed. Social media literacy in the perspective of Islamic education acts as a moral filter to help adolescents use social media wisely. So that through it can minimize the negative impact and shape the character of the younger generation in accordance with Islamic values.

Abstract

The development of technology, particularly in the field of education, plays a strategic role in enhancing the quality of learning and student achievement. This research focuses on digital transformation in accounting education at vocational schools in Surakarta, exploring how the application of technology can support the improvement of student learning outcomes. The research approach is qualitative, with data collected through in-depth interviews and direct observations at three schools: SMK Negeri 1 Surakarta, SMK Negeri 3 Surakarta, and SMK Negeri 6 Surakarta. The research informants include 8 teachers and 6 students from the Accounting program. The results indicate that the implementation of digital technology in the accounting learning process has transformed teaching methods to be more innovative and interactive. This not only enhances students' understanding of accounting concepts but also motivates them to be more active in their learning. Furthermore, this digital transformation positively impacts the mastery of technical skills, such as the use of modern accounting software relevant to industry needs. Student achievement has shown improvement in both academic aspects and practical skills. Overall, this research underscores that the integration of technology in education can serve as an important catalyst in supporting learning success and preparing students for the workforce.

Abstract

Inquiry-based learning is an approach that emphasizes students’ active involvement in the learning process through inquiry and exploration. In Vocational High Schools (SMK), there is an urgent need to improve students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical skills to harmonize with the demands of the world of work. However, the effectiveness of the implementation of inquiry learning in vocational schools is still diverse and requires a comprehensive study. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of inquiry learning in vocational schools through a meta-analysis approach to the results of previous research. Literature searches were conducted through Google Scholar with the keywords “inquiry learning,” “inquiry learning,” “vocational schools,” and “learning outcomes” in the 2019-2024 publications. Inclusion criteria include experimental research with control groups, vocational school student subjects, and complete post-test data. The selection process resulted in 30 studies that met the criteria. The extracted data included the mean and standard deviation post-test of both groups. The analysis uses Cohen’s effect size formula to calculate the impact of inquiry learning. The results showed an effect size of 1.0, which indicated a significant influence of inquiry learning on the learning achievement of vocational school students, especially in understanding concepts and practical skills. However, implementation challenges include limited time, resources, and teacher readiness. It is concluded that inquiry learning is efficacious in improving the learning outcomes of vocational students but requires an implementation strategy that considers contextual factors.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the interaction of industrial work practice and career guidance on students' work preparation with work motivation as a mediating variable. Using a quantitative survey design, data were collected through a Google Forms questionnaire on 85 students of class XII SMK Negeri 6 Surakarta who were selected by proportional random sampling. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis with the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach through SmartPLS 4.0 shows that industrial work practice and career guidance significantly improve students' work readiness. Work motivation acts as a full mediator, strengthening the relationship between the two independent variables and the ability of students to face the demands of the labor market. The results of this study indicate that the success of vocational education is highly dependent on the synergy between hands-on experience in the world of work and structured career guidance support. Work motivation is an important psychological factor in connecting the learning process with actual readiness in the workplace. The findings confirm the importance of integrating industrial internship programs and motivation-based career counseling in the vocational education curriculum to improve graduate competitiveness. This research provides a practical contribution to the development of learning strategies that are responsive to industry dynamics.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) plays a crucial role in shaping students' character and moral values from an early age. However, instructional approaches in IRE remain dominated mainly by lecture-based methods, which tend to result in passive learning and decreased student engagement. This issue is particularly evident in Integrated Islamic Elementary Schools, where conventional teaching strategies often fail to stimulate students' interest, ultimately leading to low learning outcomes. To address this challenge, there is a need for innovative and participatory learning strategies, such as the role-playing method. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing role-playing as an instructional strategy to enhance student engagement and conceptual understanding in Islamic Religious Education. A qualitative case study approach was employed at SDIT Al-Halimiyah, Jakarta. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The data analysis involved three main stages: data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that role-playing significantly increases active student participation, strengthens their understanding and retention of religious concepts, and fosters the development of confidence, empathy, and social awareness. Furthermore, students demonstrated higher enthusiasm and comprehension when learning was delivered through experiential and interactive methods. These results suggest that role-playing can be an effective alternative instructional strategy in Islamic Religious Education, promoting active learning and contributing to the overall quality of religious education at the elementary school level.

Abstract

The quality of education is a crucial factor for the progress of the nation in forming a high-capacity and moral society. Pesantren, as boarding educational institutions in Indonesia, have more complex service demands than non-Islamic boarding schools because they manage formal and non-formal programs. Initial studies at Islamic Boarding School XYZ showed that there had been no improvement in services based on Voice of Customer. This study aims to maximize the quality of Islamic Boarding School XYZ services by focusing on the five dimensions of SERVQUAL (physical evidence, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy). Data collection was carried out through questionnaires distributed to students as respondents. Data analysis was carried out by implementing the SERVQUAL method to identify service gaps and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) to formulate action plans based on improvement priorities. The results of the study identified 19 service attributes that needed improvement. These improvement recommendations were compiled based on a comprehensive analysis using SERVQUAL and QFD, providing concrete guidance for XYZ Islamic Boarding School to effectively improve the quality of services based on the needs of students.
