Abstract

The goal of this project is to create the E-Story Picture design as a cutting edge teaching tool to enhance MTs level Arabic language acquisition. The four steps of the Design Based Research (DBR) method needs analysis, design, evaluation, and distribution are used in this study. Interviews and questionnaires were employed as data collection tools. Data analysis used qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results of the problem analysis in learning are the low interest in reading in Indonesia caused by several factors. To increase interest in reading, several strategies can be applied such as creating interesting learning media, and giving awards to students who are active in participating in reading activities. The results of the illustrated e-story design have produced teaching material products that contain Arabic learning materials with the theme “Ashabul Fil” which are interactive, contextual, and interesting. Validation of design products is carried out by 4 experts. The results of the experts' assessment of the design of Arabic illustrated e-stories from the aspects of content and language obtained a score of 97%, and from the design aspect obtained a score of 96%, so that the designed illustrated e-stories were declared feasible to use by following the suggestions for improvement from the experts. The results of the teacher's assessment of the design of the illustrated e-story obtained a score of 94%. The results of the illustrated e-story design use hyperlinks and are published by distributing them to Arabic language teachers. Thus, the design of illustrated e-stories that have been designed can be used as teaching materials in learning Arabic at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) level.

Abstract

Problems often faced by students are related to the inconsistency of words or sentences in writing, lack of attention to the writing structure following EYD (Enhanced Spelling), and often combining standard language with slang. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of Grammarly as a learning application accessed individually. However, it can be used to collaborate in solving problems in each sentence in writing. The research used is quantitative based on the experimental method. The research design includes a quasi-experimental design. The results show the effectiveness of using Grammarly on writing skills for students, as evidenced by the reliability test results, which showed a value of 0.764 so the data is declared reliable. Furthermore, the results of the normality test for the Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) value is 0.200, so that the data is declared normally distributed. Then, the homogeneity test results are based on the sig value of 0.083> 0.05, so the data shows homogeneity. Finally, the hypothesis test results in Asymp.Sig. (2-sided) are 0.000, so that the data shows an accepted hypothesis. The data analysis results show that Grammarly is a practical learning application for improving sentences and avoiding grammatical errors.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of educational transformation in the digital era on students during the learning process and the dynamics of education at the university level. A qualitative approach is used to collect data from FKIP students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Data collected from interviews and observations will be analyzed using the thematic analysis method, which identifies, analyzes, and reports relevant patterns or key themes relating to the challenges and opportunities faced by students in educational transformation. Thematic analysis is conducted interactively, with data grouped into thematic categories to identify key relationships and patterns relating to challenges and opportunities in digital education. This research will provide valuable insights into how the role of digital technology in education affects the dynamics of student learning and the implications for providing education that is more adaptive and responsive to individual needs. Digital education has great potential to not only increase flexibility in learning time and location but also enable the development of age-relevant skills, such as technological literacy, online collaboration, and critical thinking. Educational institutions play a key role in supporting this transformation, particularly through investment in adequate infrastructure and reliable internet access, as well as ongoing training for educators to increase capacity in digital learning management.

Abstract

Nonformal education is crucial in accessing marginalized communities often excluded from formal education systems. However, integrating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) approaches in nonformal education remains limited. This study aims to explore the role of SEL in enhancing the psychological, social, and emotional well-being of learners from marginalized communities and identify implementation challenges. The research employs a literature review method with a critical analysis of SEL theories and practices and their relevance to nonformal education contexts. The findings indicate that the application of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) in nonformal education has significant potential to improve the welfare of marginalized communities, especially in the context of education at Community Learning Activity Centers (PKBM) and other learning groups. However, the study also reveals structural, social, and cultural barriers, including a lack of policy support and resource limitations. This study concludes that integrating SEL into nonformal education holds substantial potential to improve the quality of life for marginalized communities. Therefore, inclusive policy support, facilitator training, and culturally adaptive approaches are essential. This research contributes to developing education science, particularly in creating holistic nonformal education models to enhance community well-being.

Abstract

The pervasive use of gadgets among elementary school-aged children has sparked concerns regarding its impact on cognitive development. This qualitative study delved into this issue by examining the experiences and perspectives of students at Cahaya Hati Islamic Elementary School through in-depth interviews over two months. Thematic analysis of the interviews shed light on the types and frequency of gadget use, contexts of usage, activities engaged in, and observed impacts on cognitive abilities. The findings revealed a significant reliance on gadgets for educational and leisure purposes, with implications for attention span and task focus. Drawing on theories of cognitive development, such as Piaget's constructivist perspective, Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development, and Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory, the discussion navigated the intricate interplay between gadget use and cognitive growth. Recommendations were formulated to optimize the benefits of gadget use while mitigating potential drawbacks, aiming to foster balanced cognitive development in children amidst the digital age.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the non-expulsion policy on student morality in the context of implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, as well as provide practical recommendations for educators, schools, and policymakers in creating an inclusive learning environment and supporting quality education. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with primary data sources obtained from in-depth interviews with five teachers and five students and secondary data from various related literature. Data analysis was conducted through triangulation to ensure the credibility of the results. The results showed that (1) the non-expulsion policy received mixed responses. Some parties considered this policy ineffective because it did not have a deterrent effect on students with serious offences. In contrast, others viewed this policy as in line with the principle of inclusiveness of Merdeka Curriculum, provided it was implemented with the right strategy. Supporting statistical data shows that more than 60% of teachers agree with implementing this policy if accompanied by intensive coaching. (2) The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, which integrates religious habituation in schools, has positively impacted student morality, as seen from the increase in discipline, intrinsic awareness of worship, and student's ability to respond ethically to immoral situations. This finding confirms the importance of education that emphasizes moral and religious values in shaping student character and the need to strengthen non-expulsion policies with a sustainable pedagogical approach.

Abstract

Foreign languages positively impact learning, especially in the current era of globalization. However, behind the positive impact of learning foreign languages, regional or local languages are being eroded and there are fewer speakers. Therefore, the world of education needs to pay balanced attention to language teaching, both regional, national, and foreign languages. In this regard, Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Sunan Pandanaran offers an activity program to improve the multilingual ability of its students, namely DDC, which was reviewed through a behavioristic approach in this study. Based on this explanation, this study aims to determine the DDC program to improve students' multilingual skills, which will be reviewed through a behavioristic approach. This study used descriptive quality research. The DDC program is implemented consistently every Monday to Thursday before class, learning by cycle. The implementation uses the Sam'iyah Syafawiyah method and the drill method, and the media used includes handbooks, templates, and posters. Conversation activities in the DDC program have fulfilled the principles of the behavioristic approach, including learning as a change in behaviour, stimulus and response, and reinforcement. Furthermore, the DDC program has also implemented a learning process according to a behavioristic perspective: learning by doing, learning from experience, and learning by trial and error.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the New Student Admissions (PPDB) zoning system, regulated by the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 17 of 2017, continues to spark debate. This policy aims to improve access to education by minimizing travel distances, reducing transportation costs, and facilitating parental involvement. However, it also presents challenges, such as declining quality in prestigious schools, reduced student motivation, and perceived inequities in the system. This article explores the zoning policy's impacts at the senior secondary school (SMA) level, highlighting both its benefits and drawbacks while proposing solutions to enhance school quality resilience using the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the study reviews 42 articles sourced from Publish or Perish, BASE, Google Scholar, and Semantic Scholar. The findings underscore the need for targeted strategies to address the policy’s shortcomings and optimize its implementation to ensure equitable and high-quality education for all.
