Abstract

Purpose: The fulfillment of clean water needs is a complex problem and requires comprehensive analysis. This study aims to analyze the implementation of clean water supply policies in Badung Regency to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Research methods: This research uses a qualitative methodology with a SWOT analysis approach through data collection carried out by interview and documentation study methods. Results and discussion: The Badung Regency Government together with Perumda Air Minum Tirta Mangutama have implemented several policies to improve clean water supply. However, there are still several obstacles, such as limited raw water source capacity, rapid population growth so that service coverage does not increase significantly. The SWOT analysis results show that to meet the clean water needs in Badung Regency, the Weaknesses-Opportunities strategy is used with strategic policies in the form of developing and increasing the availability of raw water through the support of the central government and the Bali Provincial Government so as to increase the coverage of clean water services through developing alternative financing schemes, such as cooperation with the private sector, financial institutions, and the community. Implication: Efforts to improve the performance of clean water services in Badung Regency require a comprehensive strategy to optimize strengths and opportunities, as well as minimize weaknesses and threats in the implementation of clean water supply policies.

Abstract

Purposes: This study aims to analyze the importance of supervisor support in motivating operational employees and its implications for work performance and employee retention in 5-star hotels in Bali. The problems raised in this study are the effect of supervisor support on employee work motivation, the effect of work motivation on employee performance, and the effect of work motivation on employee retention at 5-star hotels in Bali. Research methods: The population in this study is all permanent employees at 5-star hotels in Bali. The number of research respondent samples of 125 was determined by purposive sampling. The research data used are primary data and secondary data. The data processing method is carried out with SEM with SmartPLS 4. Results and discussion: The effect of supervisor support on employee work motivation at a 5-star hotel in Bali 64.9% was positive and significant, which means that the higher the supervisor support, the higher the employee's work motivation. Employee work motivation has a positive and significant effect of 64.6% on employee performance, and work motivation affects employee retention positively and significantly by 52.5%. After considering the control variable, the increased R-Square value suggests that supervisor support positively impacts employee motivation if employees have a high education. Implication: Aspects of educational level greatly influence a supervisor in making decisions to motivate employees at a 5-star hotel in Bali. Decision-making is faster and more structured because it has a mature theoretical foundation. The higher the education, the more comprehensive the supervisor's insight. A supervisor with an unmarried status has speed in making decisions and motivates his employees. From a gender perspective, women cannot freely determine workload and work shifts compared to men.

Abstract

The concept of mass tourism has two seasons namely high season and low season to determine the number of tourist visits each year. Therefore the tourism industry tries to conduct a vigorous promotion by carrying out activities that can bring tourists to stay in one tourist destination. One of the activities that entrepreneurs do in the low season is to conduct activities called MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions). This research uses qualitative analysis technique by applying the participatory principle involving MICE stakeholders, destination manager, travel agent managers, and tourists. Ubud Village as a tourist destination which has potential for MICE activities has not had a convention bureau. This is due to the characteristics of the tourists who come to Ubud and the needs required by the tourism industry managers which are different from other tourist destinations in Bali such as Badung regency and Denpasar municipality. During this time, the implementation of activities of MICE is dominated by incentives tourism activities (56.57%), exhibitions (31.72%), and meetings (11.71%). The SWOT results concluded that Ubud Village is still S > W and O ≥ T thus requiring an internal consolidation, but seeing O ≥ T, has potential for further development. Development strategy were using grand strategy which make the results such as growth, dominance, and maximum investment.

Abstract

Bung Karno/Sukarno (the first president of Indonesia) placed research as the main ingredient in planning the Pola Pembangunan Semesta Berencana and used the research results on an ongoing basis to realize the ideals of national development, namely: "Welfare with social justice for all Indonesian people (Kesejahteraan yang berkeadilan sosial bagi seluruh masyarakat Indonesia)", and increase the nation's competitiveness. The Law No. 11 of 2019 concerning the National System of Science and Technology requires the role of local governments in the development of research, inventions, and innovations, as well as utilizing the results in the form of Intellectual Property. The transformation of the Regional Research and Development Institute is a must to carry out the mandate of the Law No. 11 of 2019. This study conveys the transformation of Bali's Regional R&D Agency (Litbangda) towards badan Riset dan Inovasi Daerah Provinsi (Regional Research and Innovation Agency of Bali Province).
