Abstract

Osmosis is defined as the process by which water molecules move through a semipermeable membrane from a solution containing a lower concentration of solute to a solution containing a higher concentration. This study aims to observe the effect of various types of immersion solutions on changes in the physical properties of potato slices, including their size, texture, and color. The method used is an experiment by immersing four potato slices of the same size (length: 4 cm, width: 2 cm) in sugar solution, lime solution, plain water, and salt solution for 15 minutes. The results showed that potatoes immersed in the sugar solution became smaller in size (length: 3.5 cm, width: 1 cm), soft in texture, and pale in color. In the salt solution, potatoes also became smaller in width, softer in texture, and very pale in color. In contrast, potatoes immersed in plain water showed no significant changes, while those immersed in the lime solution only showed small changes in texture without affecting their size and color. This indicates that hypertonic sugar and salt solutions cause the release of water in potato cells. Plain water, which is a hypotonic solution, only causes slight changes. Meanwhile, the lime solution helped maintain the physical quality of the potatoes. The results of this study can be used as a science learning tool in elementary schools to help students understand the concept of osmosis in a simple and more realistic way.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the level of central bank independence, interest rates, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, and exchange rates on inflation in Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Vietnam during the period 2004–2023. Secondary panel data were obtained from the World Bank–World Development Indicators and the Central Bank Independence Dataset developed by Garriga, then analyzed using panel data regression with the help of EViews software. Based on the results of the Chow Test and the Hausman Test, the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) was selected as the most appropriate estimation model, with Cross-section SUR (Panel Corrected Standard Errors/PCSE) correction to address heteroscedasticity issues. The results show that partially central bank independence has a positive but insignificant effect on inflation at the 5 percent significance level, so it is not able to explain inflation control in the sample countries. Interest rates have a negative and significant effect on inflation, indicating that interest rate increases are still effective in suppressing the inflation rate. GDP growth has a negative but insignificant effect on inflation, while the exchange rate has a positive and significant effect on inflation, so that exchange rate depreciation tends to increase inflationary pressures. Simultaneously, the four independent variables significantly influenced inflation, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.780071. This finding indicates that inflation stability in the five ASEAN countries is more influenced by conventional macroeconomic factors, particularly exchange rates and interest rates, than by the level of central bank independence. The research findings are expected to provide input for monetary authorities and the government in formulating policies that support price stability by strengthening monetary policy coordination and managing exchange rate stability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of social capital on the business performance of RedSeller Leader by Adit users with innovation capability as a mediating variable. This research is motivated by the phenomenon of fluctuating business performance among RedSeller users, indicated by unstable customer check-in numbers due to stagnant promotional strategies and intense competition among digital affiliates. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method involving RedSeller Leader by Adit users. The research data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method based on Partial Least Square (PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS 4 software. The results indicate that: (1) social capital has a positive and significant effect on business performance; (2) social capital has a positive and significant effect on innovation capability; (3) innovation capability has a positive and significant effect on business performance; and (4) innovation capability mediates the relationship between social capital and business performance. These findings demonstrate that social networks, trust, and relationships among RedSeller users can serve as strategic resources when combined with the ability to create innovations in digital marketing and promotional strategies. Therefore, strengthening social capital accompanied by improving innovation capability is an important factor in enhancing the sustainable business performance of digital affiliate users.

Abstract

- This research aims to improve the involvement and learning outcomes of elementary school second-grade students in Pancasila subjects through the application of the "Spin Wheel" learning media, which is based on Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development. Carried out as Class Action Research (PTK), this research includes two cycles each consisting of four stages: planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were second-grade students, with evaluations focusing on process data (student involvement) and learning outcome data. The results showed that Spin Wheel media significantly improved teacher activity, student engagement, and learning outcomes. In Cycle I, the average rate of implementation of teacher actions reached 82.82%, while student involvement was at 48.13%. After reflection and improvement in classroom management, the implementation of teachers' actions reached a perfect score of 100.00% in Cycle II, and the average student involvement increased sharply to 86.88% (reaching a peak of 90.00% in the second meeting). Increased involvement in this learning process has a direct impact on learning outcomes; the percentage of students who met the Learning Goal Achievement Criteria (KKTP ≥ 6.5) managed to exceed the success indicator by 80%. Thus, the Spin Wheel media has proven to be effective in transforming abstract Pancasila concepts into concrete, visual, and interactive elements, in line with the characteristics of the concrete operational thinking stage in children aged 7 to 8 years.
