Abstract

Global Putra Swasembada is a company that distributes broiler chickens with a market area in Pekanbaru City. During the distribution process, the vehicle still has remaining capacity, which should be used to load customer orders in other areas. So, the number of tours formed and the number of vehicles used increases, which results in high distribution costs. An effective and efficient distribution method is needed to optimize distribution routes. The research uses the nearest-neighbour method to determine new routes. The results show that the distance of the existing route, which was previously 151.3 km, became 128.8 km, saving 22.5 km. The previous number of vehicles using 4 to 3 optimal vehicles. After calculating the distribution costs, the company paid the cost of Rp. 28,590,800 became Rp. 21,744,000, then there is a reduction in costs of Rp—6,846,800 or 14% every month.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of understanding the factors influencing the net profit of Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD) in West Sumatra Province, particularly in the context of the number of employees and the number of companies. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of the number of employees and the number of companies on the net profit of BUMD using multiple linear regression methods. The data used in this study were sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for the period from 2013 to 2022. The results of the analysis indicate that the regression model is overall significant with an R2 adjusted value of 0,537, meaning that 53,7% of the variation in net profit can be explained by the number of employees and the number of companies. However, the individual effects of the number of employees and the number of companies on net profit are not statistically significant at the 95% confidence level. The conclusion of this study is that the number of employees and the number of companies collectively influence the net profit of BUMD, although the impact of each variable is not strong enough individually.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of variations in interlayer thickness on welding time, interface area and hardness values in dissimilar material welded joints using a bar-plate upright rotary friction welding machine. The method used in this research: rotational speed 2,613 rpm, friction pressure 0.5 MPa, forging pressure 0.7 MPa, forging time 10 seconds and interlayer variations (without interlayer, 0.3 mm, 0.5 mm and 1 mm). Tests used in the research: liquid penetrant test, metallography, and Vickers. It can be analyzed that interlayer variations have an effect on welding time. The time results obtained from using an interlayer with a thickness of 0.3 mm resulted in a time of 142.1 seconds, a 0.5 mm interlayer of 168.7 seconds, and a 1 mm interlayer of 204.4 seconds. The results for specimens without using an interlayer obtained a time of 71.3 seconds. The thicker the interlayer used, the longer the welding time. In observing the interface area, giving interlayer variations of 0.3 mm, 0.5 mm and 1 mm had an effect on cracks and cavities where all specimens were not found to have cracks or cavities, but voids were found in welding without allowing interlayer variations. In testing the hardness of interlayer variations with a thickness of 1 mm, the highest hardness was found in the interface area with an average hardness value of 169.56 VHN. Meanwhile, the lowest hardness value in the interface area results from variations without an interlayer with an average hardness value of 149.07 VHN

Abstract

Used oil more commonly referred to as used cooking oil is household waste that contains carcinogenic compounds which are very dangerous if consumed by the human, so that it does not become waste in the community can be used as raw material for making biodiesel. Used cooking oil processing can be done with the use of adsorbents so that used cooking oil becomes clear and its quality can be maintained. Palm Oil has the potential to be used as carbon which functions as an Adsorbent in the refining of used cooking oil. In this study, palm fronds were carbonized using pyrolysis with a temperature of 3500C then mashed and sifted with mesh sizes of 50, 70, and 100 mesh. Followed by the activation process using 0.1 M sulfuric acid solution (H2SO4) for 3 hours and then dried using an oven. The results of the study showed that the best turbidity was an adsorbent measuring 100 mesh with a mass of 4.5 grams, the final turbidity obtained with a value of 15.9 NTU with a total turbidity reduction of 108.6 NTU.

Abstract

In the conventional machining process, production costs are essential to know to determine the cost of making a product in any industrial manufacturing such as the SMK N 2 PEKANBARU machining workshop. Machining production costs are calculated based on machining time per product and machining operation costs. In calculating conventional machining costs, the VBA Excel macro is an application that can be used to calculate production costs. The Ø65mm × z24 umbrella gear product which is the research case study is a product that is machined by two conventional machining processes, namely lathe machining and milling machining. From the results of the research, the cost of conventional lathe machining, namely making gear wheels, is IDR 47,841/product, and the conventional milling process, namely making Z24 gears, is IDR 40,002/product, while the machining cost for lathe mastercam simulation is IDR 33,187/product and the machining cost for milling mastercam simulation is IDR 20,340/product. Machining costs are the product of operating costs per minute (cm) and machining time (tm). So, from the results of calculating machining and production costs, it is known that the product manufacturing costs or production costs for Ø65mm × Z24 umbrella gears are in the range of IDR 111,827 - IDR 146,143/product.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the influence of basin geometry on the formation and characteristics of vortex flow using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Three types of basin geometries were investigated: cylindrical, conical, and conical convex. CFD simulations were conducted to observe the velocity distribution, and vortex flow patterns generated by each basin. The results indicate that the conical basin produces vortex flows with higher intensity compared to the cylindrical and conical convex basins. The conical basin demonstrated a more focused flow pattern and higher vortex concentration around the central axis, contributing to enhanced vortex formation efficiency. Although the cylindrical and conical convex basins also generated vortex flows, they exhibited a more dispersed velocity distribution and less stable vortices. These findings provide important insights for the design and optimization of vortex turbine systems, particularly in the context of renewable energy applications.

Abstract

The steam jet ejector is a device for extracting NCG from the condenser. NCG can increase the pressure in the condenser until a vacuum condition is not reached. The diffuser pressure on the steam jet ejector has a normal operational limit of below 1 atm, meaning that the ejector performance will be optimal if it is operated at the operational limit under vacuum conditions. The expected objectives are to determine the effect of the steam jet ejector on condenser vacuum, calculate the performance of the first level steam jet ejector through pressure analysis in the diffuser section, calculate the performance of the steam jet ejector in actual conditions compared to the design data conditions and analyze actions that can be taken to improve the performance of the tool. Based on the results of calculations and analysis, it was found that the increase in steam jet ejector pressure had an effect on the increase in condenser pressure from the design pressure of 0.10 bar to 0.107-0.123 bar under actual conditions. The decrease in steam jet ejector performance results in the condenser vacuum level decreasing, but the equipment performance is within normal operational limit conditions, namely below 1 atm. The decrease in steam jet ejector performance is influenced by the motive steam mass flow rate, NCG mass flow towards suction, entrainment ratio value, NCG pressure and motive steam pressure which exceeds the design data.
