Abstract

Da’wa (proselytization) is an important aspect of Islam Religion. It basedon holybook (al-quran) and hadits as doctrine sources. Historically Islam has beendeveloped around the world through da’wa. So, Islam is named as a da’wa religion.This article aims to describe da’wa practices and its challenges in KotawaringinTimur Regency, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. This research was conducted inKotawaringin Timur Regency for some reasons . It is a strategic district becauseit is quite advanced both economically and infrastructure as well as thelongstanding development of Islam.The data of article was collected byobservation, depth interview, and documentation. By using descriptive qualitativemethods, the study find out some findings, namely first, da’wa practices have beencondacted by personally and by organizations. It also be delivered verbally andbesides it, some messages only focused on clasical issues such as islamic law,islamic sufism, but contemporary issues have not discussed. Using da’wa mediabetween rural area and urban area is different. Some modern media were only usedin urban area such as radio, television, youtube, and also social media. Second,some challenges are human resources, distance and geographical factor, newreligious thought school, deviant notions, and also society’s changed mindset andbehavior because of globalization impact.

Abstract

Television as one of the mass media in some way still being capable ofproviding an important role in the growth, development, and promotion of tourismby enhancing awareness and understanding toward the necessities in the local andglobal scale of the tourism industry. In an absolute way, the concern of thetelevision in this context is visualized in various aspects of life and becomingincreasingly greater day by day, especially in the sphere of influence; such as socialinteraction, and cultural also educational aspects. These can articulate thetraditions, customs, and heritage of the past, the coverage of television may attemptto correct any widespread erroneous information in this post-truth era. Thus thispaper focus on how TV media set tourism coverage in conveying local wisdom ofEast Java. The method used in this paper is qualitative, combining two methods ofdata collecting, interview, and content analysis. Interview performed on coverageteam, henceforward content analysis is proceeded on tourism coverage by InsideIndonesia, a program of CNN Indonesia episode “Wajah Baru KuntulanBanyuwangi”. The research findings are: (a) TV tourism coverage providesfriendly-tourism sources of information, also (b) accomplish a balance conduitamongst disaster phenomenon and tourism sector, and last but not least (c)converse the local wisdom in the global perspective of tourism coverage.

Abstract

Twitter is widely used in digital political campaigns. Twitter as a socialmedia that is useful for building networks and even connecting politicalparticipants with the community. Indonesia will get a demographic bonus startingnext year until 2030. The number of productive ages that will become ademographic bonus if not recognized correctly can be a problem. The electionorganizer must seize this opportunity for the benefit of voter participation. Thisstudy aims to describe the network structure of students in the 2019 presidentialelection. The first debate was held on January 17, 2019 as a starting point for dataretrieval on Twitter social media. This study uses data sources derived from Twittertalks from 17 January 2019 to 20 August 2019 with keywords “#pilpres2019 OR#mahasiswa since: 2019-01-17”. The data obtained were analyzed by thecommunication network analysis method using NodeXL software. Our Analysisfound that Top Influencer is @jokowi, as well as Top, Mentioned also @jokowiwhile Top Tweeters @okezonenews and Top Replied-To @hasmi_bakhtiar. Jokowiis incumbent running for re-election with Ma’ruf Amin (Senior Muslim Cleric) ashis running mate against Prabowo Subianto (a former general) and Sandiaga Unoas his running mate (former vice governor). This shows that the more concentratedin the millennial generation in this case students are presidential candidates@jokowi. @okezonenews, the official twitter account of okezone.com (MNC MediaGroup). Hasmi Bakhtiar (@hasmi_bakhtiar) is a graduate student at the Universityof Lille in France from Indonesia who often criticizes the Jokowi government.

Abstract

Nowadays, in the development technology era, the local language waspredicted slowly dying, especially Javanese. The Internet has changed the society habit tospeak in English more often than local languages. Moreover, the current state describesthat Javanese language is considered as outdated so everyone never use the locallanguage in online communication. In the contrary, the digital brings fresh air for thelocal language to be known by the internet. A lot of content creators in Indonesia makevideos on YouTube using Javanese. Many of them succed deliver the content and showedthe identity of local language as well. Furthermore, the local language become theprimary content for content creators such as Dave Jepcott from Australian which popularand famous known as Londo Kampung. The method of this study is using a qualitativewith descriptive research. To obtain the primary data, the researchers using observationand interview technique. The result of this study showed that there are five elements thatinvolved and encourage people to find the identity and preservation for local languageswhich are the multiplicity of interpretation, value, attitude, meaning and knowledge form.Many people is considered to use Javanese language not only to preserve the locallanguage but also to present the unique value as a content that distributed to video onYouTube. Digital as the biggest challenge for culture evidently provide and give anopportunity to present the Javanese as local language for the identity.

Abstract

In this era, self-disclosure is not only done in face-to-facecommunication, but can also be done through social media platforms, one of whichis Instagram. By utilizing the Johari Window concept, this study aims to find outhow the use of the second Instagram account or commonly called Finstagram (fakeInstagram) as a form of self-disclosure by UPN "Veteran" Jawa Timur students.This is a qualitative research with interview as data collection technique. In additionto interview, observation or analyzing posts on the student’s Finstagram account isalso done by researchers. The results showed that UPN "Veteran" Jawa Timurstudents used Finstagram account to express their self-disclosure. They are moreopen when uploading various photos, videos, and telling information on theirFinstagram account. The Finstagram accounts they make are only followed byfriends who they know or they are close to, thus they can upload everything.Finstagram becomes a place to pour out the feelings that are being experienced.They assume that their followers in the Finstagram account can accept their trueself.Finstagram is a stage or platform for students to express honesty and selfdisclosure.The self-disclosure occurs in four areas stated in the Johari Windowconcept, namely open area, blind area, hidden area, and unknown area.

Abstract

The process of Muallaf mapping in West Kotawaringin, Lamandau,and Sukamara Regency in Central Kalimantan Province is very crucial andinteresting to be investigated. Some problems are the Muallaf motivation toembrace Islam and their religious activities. To maintain the existence ofmu'allaf to keep in Islam, effective coaching is needed. This study uses aqualitative approach to understand symbolic meanings and interpret Muallaf’sactions. Data were obtained from 18 informants in 3 districts; WestKotawaringin Barat, Lamandau, and Sukamara Regency and the triangulationsystem, as well as by observation and documentary. The findings revealed;Muallaf, are facing adversity in diversity, they get minimum concern fromrelevant ministries or agencies, Islamic organizations, and non-governmentalorganizations in Central Kalimantan. The reasons are: there is no extensionagent specifically devoted to Muallaf; extension agents or preachers of theMinistry of Religion have not been functional for Muallaf, limited funds toprovide coaching, geographical constraints, and the low structured datacollection for the existence of Muallaf, no precise record for each regency. Theprocess of coaching mapping is to picture of coaching done by competentparties. Being a Muallaf, in general, is due to marriage, one's desires, and thenit is indeed given guidance by Allah. However, the majority factor triggering ismarriage. Based on the facts and problems of the Muallaf existence in the threeregencies, an effective coaching innovation is needed.

Abstract

The evolution of media played a significant role in influencing the shift in the concept of traditional advertising towards digital advertising. Advertising in traditional media such as electronic and print media is considered less efficient because it requires a considerable budget. Advertising on online media is recognized as being cheaper than traditional media, both production costs or placement fees in the media. This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques using literature studies, and in-depth interviews with the advertising workers. The results of this study show how the strength of traditional media than online media to advertise a brand in digital age. The online media such as youtube and social media more effective to build brand awareness compared sales impact. In addition, this paper also explain comparasion the power of word of mouth rather than social media influencer effect in digital advertising.

Abstract

With regard to globalization, the field of education is undergoing a system regeneration that enables the exchange of information, the development of organizational culture and the development of education systems with an international dimension. Internationalization becomes a system which is then widely applied to educational institutions such as universities. The internationalization process carried out by a tertiary institution can be reviewed through the ranking of educational institutions carried out by various world ranking institutions such as QS Stars and can also be monitored through an information platform owned by the relevant agency. Internationalization of tertiary institutions has begun to be implemented in Indonesia and is a program being promoted by the Ministry of Research and Higher Education. Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) is one of the tertiary institutions that is working towards internationalization. Since the last few years, UNS has continued to carry out programs related to internationalization. In addition, UNS also seeks to communicate the internationalization program that is being undertaken to the public by publishing a campus agenda through an information platform such as a website. This study looks at the representation of the UNS website in conveying information to the public and its stakeholders based on international indicators of QS Star ranking. The data used is in the period June August 2018. The results of the study show that only academic reputation and international student ratios are the most widely displayed on the UNS website.

Abstract

The family is function and is responsible for the process of child development. Parents are required to provide physical needs, guide, care for children to become an independent human being and are responsible for him. Even so, there are some families who are forced to care for their children in the extended family. The problem "how does the difference in meaning, care, can lead to conflict between parents and other extended family members? The purpose to examine the meaning and communication experience of parents and extended family members who are actively involved in child care. The method is a phenomenological approach. Primary data obtained from indepth interviews. The result that parenting is done by parents in terms of physical, psychological and social aspects in the form of love, attention, communication, learning, and control. Parenting is more appropriate for biological parents than for other figures who only pay attention and meet the needs of children when biological parents are not at home, for example, because they are working. Conflict resolution in large families tends to use collaboration style, extended family members discuss a problem to be solved together. The style of resolving individual conflicts is not always applied in the realm of extended families. They tend to adjust to other family members, especially in the interests of children.

Abstract

The woman had double responsibility toward her family, on one side as a mother and the other side they had a productive job to help their family’s economic wealth. This study aimed to describe woman worker in the food home industry in Malang City to view their meaning of woman’s independence in economic behavior. This research used a study case approach with a data collecting method that uses an in-depth interview technique and qualitative analysis model. The study resulted that women workers in their meaning of woman’s independence are: 1) working and provide positive benefits for her and family, 2) support the household economy so hopefully it can improve the family quality of life better, 3) woman’s position in decision making inside the family is determined by their economic contribution in the family, and 4) opportunity to participate in community social activities The economic behavior of women workers in their everyday life, in general, can support their families’ economic well-being. This research could give a contribution in the context of informal education in a family environment, especially instill awareness and understanding as well as realize it in life through attitude, action, and behavior of family members.
