Abstract

This study focuses on the issue of ineffective educational service marketing in enhancing the institution's image. The aim of this study is to analyze the implementation of educational service marketing, identify weaknesses in the applied marketing model, and explore aspects of Local Wisdom-Based Educational Service Marketing in improving the institution's image. This research uses a qualitative approach with an ethnographic design. The subjects of the study include the school principal, the vice principal for student affairs, cultural figures, and religious leaders. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, document studies, and focus group discussions (FGD). Data analysis was performed using the model proposed by Miles and Huberman, which consists of three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Data validation was conducted using triangulation techniques, including source triangulation and method triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of educational service marketing in this school has not been effective and has not been maximally executed. Identified weaknesses include the lack of structured marketing activities, insufficient use of local wisdom as an attraction in marketing, and a lack of understanding among school members regarding educational service marketing. Furthermore, local wisdom has not been optimally applied in every aspect of the marketing mix. The conclusion of this study is that efforts need to be made to maximize the implementation of educational service marketing by incorporating local wisdom into every aspect of marketing to enhance the institution's image.

Abstract

The global issue of environmental degradation necessitates education that fosters environmental awareness among students from an early age. Green living is an effective learning approach to cultivate students' environmental concern while simultaneously developing their independence. This study aims to analyze the development of environmental awareness among elementary school students through the economic green living approach, which applies the 5R principles: refuse, reuse, recycle, reduce, and replant. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using the interactive model by Miles and Huberman, which involves data reduction, data presentation, and continuous conclusion drawing. The results reveal that the implementation of the 5R principles among students includes activities such as waste recycling, greening, reusing discarded items, waste reduction, and rejecting plastic bags. The process cultivates characteristics such as independence, responsibility, discipline, creativity, and collaborative skills. This study concludes that the economic green living approach, utilizing the 5R principles, is effective in shaping students’ environmental awareness while equipping them with life skills relevant to addressing environmental sustainability challenges.

Abstract

Bullying in educational settings remains a significant challenge, despite the integration of moral education into the curriculum aimed at shaping students' character and reducing negative behaviors. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of moral education in addressing bullying while identifying barriers to its success. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with students and educators as participants. Data were analyzed thematically and through descriptive statistics to provide a comprehensive understanding. The key findings reveal a discrepancy between the moral values taught in schools and students' daily behavior. Barriers include inconsistent application of moral values, external influences such as social media, limited family involvement, and an overemphasis on formal religious practices without the internalization of moral values. This study concludes that a systematic and collaborative approach involving schools, families, and communities is essential to effectively reduce bullying, including refining moral education with a more comprehensive and practical approach applicable to students’ daily lives.

Abstract

Character education in Junior High Schools (SMP) is an essential element in shaping students' strong personalities and noble character. However, in its implementation, there are various challenges faced by teachers, particularly related to understanding, skills, and support for the program. This study aims to analyze how SMP teachers perceive the implementation of character education in their schools and the challenges that arise in its development. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with 30 SMP teachers as the subjects of the study. Data collection techniques included questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and presented in the form of tables and frequency distributions. The results of the study show that the majority of teachers, 93.31%, have a positive perspective on the implementation of character education in SMP. However, although the implementation is already good, there is still room for improvement in achieving more optimal outcomes. Therefore, it can be concluded that character education has been well implemented, but further socialization and training for teachers regarding mastery of technology and information are necessary to optimally support the character education program.

Abstract

Teachers and parents often lack examples of implementing digital technology in the development of character for early childhood. This study aims to analyze best practices in the application of digital technology for character development in young children. The method used is the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Review (PRISMA-ScR) to identify research reports on the use of digital technology for character development in early childhood over the past five years. The findings show that the applied digital technologies are divided into two types: audiovisual and visual. Through the perspective of Early Childhood Education for Sustainability (ECEfs), the use of digital technology has been proven effective in stimulating children's character, with the character composition of self-respect (31%), respect for others (38%), and respect for the environment (31%). Based on the 18 national character values according to Permendikbud No. 20 of 2018, only 33% of the character proportions are developed through digital technology. This study concludes that digital technology, both in audiovisual and visual forms, can be utilized by teachers and parents to support the development of character in early childhood. Socio-cultural and ecological systems theories are used to explain the role and potential of digital technology in character development for young children.

Abstract

The problem faced is the low literacy and numeracy skills of students, which pose a challenge for conventional teaching methods. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the inquiry-based learning game, E-Lens, in improving students' literacy and numeracy. The study employs a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test methods, involving two groups: the experimental group using E-Lens and the control group using conventional teaching methods. The instruments used include literacy and numeracy tests, questionnaires, and classroom observations. Data were analyzed using statistical analysis, including ANCOVA, to compare the results between the two groups. The findings show that the use of E-Lens significantly improves students' literacy and numeracy compared to the control group. Statistical analysis also reveals a strong negative correlation between pre-test scores and post-test improvements, with students who initially scored lower showing greater gains. Teacher evaluations indicate that E-Lens is easy to implement and enhances student engagement. The conclusion of this study is that E-Lens has been proven effective in improving students' literacy and numeracy and can serve as an innovative solution to enhance the quality of education in Indonesia.

Abstract

The character education of nationalism, as outlined in the Merdeka Curriculum, needs to be implemented from an early age, particularly at the elementary school level. However, many teachers still prioritize cognitive assessments over character education. This study aims to explore, analyze, and describe the activities of culture-based nationalism character education conducted by teachers in the classroom. This research employs a qualitative method with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out through three stages: data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the activities conducted by teachers to foster culture-based nationalism character include four aspects: first, activities to introduce culture; second, activities to appreciate culture; third, interaction across cultural differences; and fourth, reflection on cultural experiences. Can be concluded that the culture-based nationalism character education within the Merdeka Curriculum can thrive through classroom learning, with teachers acting as facilitators who integrate cultural diversity and local wisdom from their respective regions.
