Abstract

The article serves as a scholarly publication summarizing field research conducted in Tegaren, East Java. The research team's objective is to provide a fresh perspective on the digitalization of the tourism village. The article examines the challenges faced by Tegaren in enhancing digital telecommunications penetration and adapting to digital technology following its transformation into a tourism village. These challenges encompass four main factors: 1) the prevalence of a younger, less productive age group in Tegaren, 2) the departure of youth from Tegaren, 3) Tegaren's agricultural lifestyle and ecosystem, and 4) its geographically distant position from major transportation hubs. Employing a theoretical framework incorporating methods such as participatory rural assessment, asset-based community development, community-based tourism, and the digital culture and literacy of rural communities, the article elucidates the demographic and geographical obstacles hindering Tegaren's efforts to enhance digitalization for the tourist village. All data presented is derived from in-depth interviews and participatory observations carried out by the research team. The respondents comprise various stakeholders from the village, including village officials, Pokdarwis members, BUMDes members, besek farmers, and village youths. This article unveils a correlation between the evolution of a tourism village and the presence of shared spaces fostering creativity and productivity. Recognizing the distinctiveness inherent in the circumstances of each tourism village, it becomes clear that comprehensive generalizations about tourism village studies are not entirely applicable.

Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) disclosure has attracted considerable attention from practice and academia. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an obligation that needs to be considered by the company to the environment around the company that contributes to the welfare of the community. In addition to the factors of profits obtained by the company (profitability) and gender diversity on the board of directors that affect corporate social responsibility. Islamic principles have actually taught business ethics that are seen as closely related to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), namely humans as caliphs (khalifah) and an approach consisting of three relationships (ukhuwwah), namely with the lord, with humans and with the environment. Thus, the purpose of this study is to determine the influence of Muslim CEO, women on board, and profitability on corporate social responsibility disclosure. The population in this study are banking companies listed on the Indonesia stock exchange for the period 2016-2019. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling techniques and obtained samples of 20 companies, so the amount of data processed was 80 companies. The data analysis used was multiple linear regression using SPSS version 25. The findings of this study show that Muslim CEO (? = 0.009) and women on board (? = 0.020) have an influence on corporate social responsibility disclosure, while profitability (? = 0.072) does not influence corporate social responsibility disclosure. Because of the fact, companies will focus more on allocating profits for investment or business continuity rather than spending costs on corporate social responsibility. We suggest that the profits earned by the company can be used for CSR disclosure programs, not just to reinvest capital for product development and company sustainability.

Abstract

Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur is one of the public facilities that produces solid waste, including organic waste, inorganic, and hazardous waste. Waste that can be immediately utilized is organic waste consisting of food waste and leaves and twigs. Therefore, appropriate technology is needed to process organic waste into more useful goods and as a better management alternative through community service. One of the alternatives for processing waste is recycling it into compost using Simultaneous Composting Technology with EM4 and MOL. The main target of this community service is to reduce waste and utilize university waste with appropriate technology for regional coverage and national coverage in the future. The method of this community service is to separate waste between organic and non-organic, selected organic waste is cut by a hammer mill, and then other waste from the canteen activity is made Local Microorganisms (MOLs) as the decaying medium in the composite production of the organic garbage processing device reactor. As a result, this community service has been running smoothly and well. The results of this community service have a positive impact through the use of organic waste into compost which can be utilized by the internal campus and generate economic value.

Abstract

The wastewater from industrial laundries has a high quantity of contaminants from the washing process, as well as chemical additives. The current study assessed the efficacy of the coagulation/occultation/sedimentation (C/F/S) method to treat laundry wastewater in relation to physicochemical parameters of water quality with the goal of treating this type of wastewater. For this purpose, an experimental design was applied to the C/F/S step using the addition of coagulant Alum, coagulant Alum plus flocculant Superfloc, and coagulant HCA. Alum coagulant has removal efficiency of 52% for COD and 37% for phosphate. The use of alum coagulant and Superfloc flocculant produces COD removal efficiency of 60% and phosphate removal efficiency of 58%. The use of HCA coagulant shows a removal efficiency of 64% for COD and 78% for phosphate. This shows that using more HCA coagulant is more effective than using alum coagulant and Superfloc flocculant in laundry wastewater treatment.

Abstract

Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) "Veteran" Jawa Timur is one of the state universities located in the Rungkut Madya-Gunung Anyar area, Surabaya, where various activities take place daily. Based on the types of activities, the sources of waste at UPN "Veteran" Jawa Timur are divided into two areas: waste from academic buildings, offices, and cafeterias, and waste from gardens and streets. About 70% of the waste generated by campus activities has the potential for recovery. Organic waste from garden sweeping, cafeterias, and other activities can be processed through composting. In addition to composting, there is currently another alternative method with better economic potential, one of which is turning it into eco-enzymes. Commercialization is understood as a process of developing new products from creative industries, making a product more valuable and commercially viable. In this article, commercialization is also understood as a comprehensive technology transfer process, starting from selecting raw materials for a product and continuing through the production process until the product is produced and reaches the end consumer. With the available and applicable processing technologies, it is hoped that this commercialization activity can assist in promoting the transformation of waste into furniture, home décor, and eco-enzymes by business groups. It includes designing commercial packaging for products and creating management and promotion schemes for processed campus waste products at UPN "Veteran" Jawa Timur.

Abstract

Universities strive to enhance public services to continually elevate user satisfaction. One critical aspect of public service is the accessibility and transparency of information, particularly in ensuring that students can easily access relevant information, contributing to heightened satisfaction with the university. However, while fostering openness and accessibility, adequate resources are essential to manage the surge in information requests from students. Chatbots emerge as a viable solution for disseminating information on academic activities, providing easy accessibility unhindered by temporal or spatial constraints at UPN "Veteran" Jawa Timur. In the initial phase of chatbot design, delineating the flow of user queries and corresponding bot responses is imperative. Questions, organized in a flow-based manner, are derived from a dataset of student queries related to academic policies. Extracting prevalent topics from both the question dataset and academic policy regulations at UPN "Veteran" Jawa Timur resulted in four overarching question topics: Implementation of Education, Learning Beyond the Study Program, Assessment and Evaluation of Learning Outcomes, and Academic Violations. The Conversational Flow Diagram is crafted based on these topics, serving as the foundational pattern for the chatbot. The test results affirm the chatbot's success in accurately presenting all designated flows, thereby furnishing users with pertinent information.

Abstract

Tegaren stands out as one of the premier tourist destinations in Trenggalek. In both 2022 and 2023, it has been honored with a place among the top 500 recipients of the Anugerah Desa Wisata Indonesia (ADWI). This village, nestled on a hillside, also earned recognition at the 2022 Anugerah Seratus Desa Wisata Trenggalek (Sadewa). After conducting research and field visits, the previous research team identified two primary challenges facing Tegaren: 1) an aging population and 2) a lack of digital and technology-based skills among Tegaren's workforce. As a result, the proposing team has developed virtual assistance and a virtual guiding training program in collaboration with Tegaren to ensure that the local tourism sector doesn't solely rely on traditional methods but can evolve into a fully comprehensive digital village. Through the implementation of this virtual assistance and virtual guiding training program, the proposing team, along with its partners, aims to keep the tourism sector aligned with the latest technological and informational advances while enhancing the human resource capabilities within Tegaren. In addressing the issues within Tegaren, the proposing team has introduced the concept of virtual assistance and virtual guiding training, employing methodologies such as participatory rural appraisal, asset-based community development, and capacity building. This approach transforms the village community from being merely the program's target into active program participants, fostering collaboration and ensuring sustainable development for the future.
