Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine how the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method is applied to the empowerment program and how it is implemented in the Student Community Service Program (KKN). The study aims to see if students can have a positive impact on society and learn from existing social realities, despite the challenges of time and cost limitations. Method: This research uses a qualitative approach and Participatory Action Research (PAR). Data collection was carried out by observing, interviewing, conducting Forum Group Discussions (FGD), and documentation. Data analysis techniques were carried out by reducing, displaying, understanding data, and drawing conclusions. Practical Applications: The research results show that the KKN program can be carried out using the PAR approach by making stages: initial mapping, transects, historical tracing, trends and changes, Venn diagrams, flowcharts, problem and expectation trees, and program strategy analysis. The process is intended to find the basic problem and also try to find a solution according to the problem. Conclusion: From this process, three programs emerged, namely: First, Socialization of environmental awareness; Second, strengthening the waste bank program; Third, FGD between the village government and the waste bank group. These programs address the community’s indifference to environmental concerns and the polarization of illegal landfills in Tambi Village, Kejajar District, Wonosobo Regency, Central Java. The community’s involvement in implementing this program is very important because the PAR method places the community as the subject of the program. This shows that the KKN program can have a positive impact on society when the PAR approach is used.

Abstract

Purpose: To enhance the production and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specializing in rice cracker production in Kromengan Village, Kromengan District, Malang Regency by implementing solar-powered drying technology. Method: The community service project was carried out in several phases, beginning with the design and development of the drying equipment. Subsequently, experimentation was conducted with variations in drying rack positions. This was followed by providing training on how to use the equipment. Experimental testing of the equipment was necessary to assess the effectiveness of the drying process using this technology. Practical Applications: The drying process with this equipment can achieve moisture levels approaching those obtained through direct sun drying. Optimal drying occurred on racks 1 and 2 due to the efficient penetration of sunlight into the drying equipment. Additionally, the use of this equipment helps maintain the cleanliness of rice crackers by preventing dust and other contaminants. Conclusion: The application of solar-powered drying technology in rice cracker production has the potential to significantly improve the drying process and product quality for SMEs in Kromengan Village. This technology offers a practical solution for enhancing the competitiveness of the rice cracker industry and ensuring product hygiene, ultimately contributing to the economic development of the local community.

Abstract

Purpose: This community service aims to apply anaerobic co-digestion technology to produce liquid organic fertilizer. Method: This anaerobic co-digestion technology is carried out by combining two substrates including animal manure and agricultural residues in one anaerobic reactor. In principle, an anaerobic reactor will decompose liquid waste from livestock waste and solid waste from agricultural processes. A mixture of livestock waste and agricultural process waste that has been processed in an anaerobic reactor will be able to produce organic fertilizer. Practical Applications: This technology is applied not only to produce bio-fertilizer but also to introduce waste management practice among farmers by controlling environmental pollution. The pollution is typically caused by neglected livestock waste and burning residues resulted from agricultural processes. Conclusion: This practice may effectively generate liquid organic fertilizers from processing agricultural wastes anaerobically, and also could significantly reduce the environmental pollution caused by agricultural processes.

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to help parents overcome challenges in distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic by training them to create interactive learning boards, enhancing children's cognitive development at home.Method: The study used training sessions for parents to create interactive boards, with feedback collected through surveys based on Donald Kirkpatrick's evaluation model, assessing satisfaction and impact on children's learning.Practical Applications: Parents, equipped with new skills, can now provide more engaging and structured home learning experiences. The interactive boards improved children's focus and cognitive abilities, with 100% of parents recognizing their value. Conclusion: The study reveals that interactive board media created by parents can significantly improve children’s cognitive abilities in distance learning contexts. The high satisfaction rates (93.9%) and the unanimous agreement (100%) on the usefulness of the boards underscore the success of the training. These findings contribute to a broader understanding of how hands-on training for parents can positively impact home-based learning and address educational challenges brought on by the pandemic.
