Abstract

Literacy is a basic skill that is very important in supporting students' academic and social success. However, various data show that the literacy and numeracy achievements of Indonesian students are still low. PISA 2022 results show a decrease in reading and math literacy scores, as well as a high percentage of students who have not reached the basic competency level. Efforts to improve literacy have been made through the School Literacy Movement (GLS) policy as stipulated in Permendikbud No 23 of 2015 and Bantul Regent Regulation No 57 of 2023. The implementation of the policy varies, such as the Book Gate Program at SDN Banyuripan. This study aims to describe the strategies implemented by SDN Banyuripan in strengthening literacy and numeracy through the Gerbang Buku program. The research method used a qualitative descriptive approach. The results showed that the implementation strategy of the Gerbang Buku program at SDN Banyuripan is structured, including the planning, implementation and evaluation stages. Planning is done collaboratively by involving various stakeholders including teachers, parents, the school committee and the literacy community. Program implementation is carried out by making the literacy and numeracy program a flagship program that is implemented in intracurricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Meanwhile, program evaluation is carried out based on student work, developmental phases, and based on student analysis and understanding. The supporting factors for the Gerbang Buku program at SDN Banyuripan are the collaboration and communication between teachers, the literacy community, writers, the Parents' Association (POT), the school committee and other external parties. The inhibiting factors are limited funds, resources and facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the representation of historical events in the poem Amsterdam-Batavia by Zeffry J. Alkatiri and examine how the poem functions as a medium for reflecting on Dutch colonialism in Indonesia. Within the context of history education, the poem is also considered to have potential as an alternative learning source that can offer students a deeper and more emotional understanding of the past. The research adopts a qualitative approach using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) through the Discourse-Historical Approach (DHA) developed by Ruth Wodak. The poem is analyzed through four main stages: identifying discourse topics, conducting linguistic analysis, examining the historical and socio-political context, and integrating findings to reveal power relations, ideologies, and identities embedded in the text. The findings show that Amsterdam-Batavia represents various significant historical events, particularly the spice trade, Dutch maritime expeditions, colonial violence in the Maluku and Banda Islands, and the development of colonial infrastructure in Batavia. The poem also highlights the contrast between the luxury enjoyed by Dutch colonizers and the suffering experienced by both the indigenous population and some Dutch sailors. Through rich symbolism and poetic language, the poet effectively conveys historical meaning in a critical and evocative manner. The study concludes that Amsterdam-Batavia holds not only literary value but also strong historical significance. This poem can serve as an effective teaching material in history education, especially in fostering empathy, contextual understanding, and critical awareness among students regarding colonial legacy and its lasting impact.

Abstract

This study deeply explores the development phase in creating an IPAS e-module integrated with Educaplay. The research is driven by the urgent need for innovative teaching materials, aiming to provide a solution for more effective and engaging learning. We adopted a Research and Development (R&D) approach, utilizing a mixed-methods design. The ADDIE model, as proposed by Branch, guided our development, consisting of five systematic stages: (1) Analyze, (2) Design, (3) Development, (4) Implementation, and (5) Evaluation. Our primary focus was specifically on the development stage. Here, we aimed to produce an initial prototype of the Educaplay-integrated IPAS e-module. This process involved conceptualizing the e-module, determining relevant IPAS content for third-grade elementary students, and seamlessly integrating Educaplay elements into its structure. The tangible outcomes of this research include a flowchart detailing the e-module's overall usage flow and a storyboard visualizing each page or section, including the placement of Educaplay activities. Both of these outputs serve as comprehensive initial designs for the Educaplay-integrated IPAS e-module, which will eventually be implemented in IPAS learning for third-grade elementary school students.
