Abstract

Psychological pressure can hinder students from performing optimally in academic settings. In response, self-compassion (SC) emerges as a crucial skill to help students manage stress and maintain mental health. While previous research has predominantly examined SC in clinical contexts, this study offers a novel perspective by investigating its application within an academic setting. The aim is to develop a theoretical model that explains the role of SC in addressing psychological academic challenges. A systematic literature review was conducted using the PRISMA model, supported by big data and visualized through VOS viewer. Using the Publish or Perish application, 505 articles were identified from Scopus- and Sinta-indexed journals (Elsevier, PubMed, Crossref, Google Scholar) published between 2019 and 2023. Nineteen articles were selected for in-depth analysis. The results reveal two academic categories: positive and negative. Self-compassion enhances variables in positive settings and moderates the effects of negative academic stressors. This research contributes to the design of psychological intervention strategies for students. Keywords: psychological academic challenges, big data, self-compassion, students

Abstract

The phenomenon of men having sex with men (MSM) in adolescence is becoming a hot topic in almost all levels of society. This is because MSM certainly experiences psychological and sociological burdens. The purpose of this research is to find the configuration of MSM. This research uses a qualitative, phenomenological approach. Data collection was carried out using interview techniques (in-depth interviews) and documentation of 6 key informants and 4 supporting informants who met the criteria. Data were analyzed using MAXQDA software. Data validity testing used triangulation techniques and sources. The findings show that the MSM configuration comprises three phases fundamental, central, and dependency consistent with the theory of MSM identity formation. The fundamental phase is the initial phase; the central phase is the transitional phase; and the third phase is dependency, during which MSM adolescents begin to be active in MSM relationships. In this phase, adolescents experience sociological and psychological burdens. This study addresses the gap in scientific research by exploring the stages that MSM adolescents undergo in forming their identities. By doing so, it enriches the academic literature and serves as a foundation for future researchers in designing appropriate interventions for MSM adolescents. Keywords: resilience, adolescents, MSM

Abstract

Every individual has future career aspirations but often faces challenges in realising them. Early career awareness and planning through career exploration is an important factor in their achievement. In elementary school-aged children, this exploration is still at the fantasy stage, where they are interested in professions that they often see. This study examines the career fantasies of Generation Alpha and the factors that influence them. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, this study involved 100 students in grades 3-6 in a remote school in Lampung, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through an open-ended questionnaire related to professional interests, reasons for choosing a profession, and sources of information that influence career fantasies. The results showed that doctors, teachers, police, and soldiers were the most frequently chosen professions by students. Gender, family, school, and digital media influence career fantasies. The findings have implications for career education and guidance, supporting children's early career development. Keywords: career fantasies, alpha generation, digital technology, career development

Abstract

Self-talk is one strategy that can increase self-awareness. This research aims to design a self-talk multimedia product that meets feasibility criteria and effectively increases students' self-awareness. Using the Borg and Gall development model, data were obtained through expert assessments, user ratings, and self-awareness scales, which were validated using Aiken's V and tested for reliability using Cronbach's Alpha. Qualitative analysis was carried out on validator and user suggestions, while quantitative analysis used feasibility percentages and t-tests. The results of the study show that multimedia self-talk is suitable for use, with 80% of media experts and 97.1% of material experts. Paired t-tests revealed significant improvements in self-awareness (p < 0.05; pretest = 72.49; posttest = 76). These findings prove that multimedia self-talk is effective in increasing students' self-awareness. The implication is that this product can be an innovation in technology-based guidance and counseling services that support students' learning independence and self-reflection. Abstract

Involuntary childlessness is a condition of not having children due to external factors, such as illness or other things that are beyond individuals’ control, which make them unable to have children. Involuntary childless couples have challenges in psychological, emotional, and social aspects. This study aims to determine the relationship between spirituality and resilience in involuntary childless families. This study used a quantitative method with a correlational design. There were 187 participants in this study, consisting of 80 husbands and 107 wives of childless individuals. The research data is collected from involuntary childless families using a snowball sampling. Spirituality was measured by the Spiritual Attitude and Involvement List (α=0.995), and resilience was measured by the Connor Davidson Resilience Scale (α=0.977). The results showed a sig=0.000 (p<0.005) and a correlation coefficient of 0.463, where the higher the level of spirituality, the higher the resilience in involuntary childless families. Involuntary childless families can increase their spirituality and be more resilient to the problems faced by following spirituality and non-spirituality practices. Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of information services in enhancing the sense of purpose among Minangkabau adolescents, which represents an essential aspect of psychological well-being and educational functioning. A quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was applied with a sample of 104 high school students selected through stratified random sampling. Data on meaning in life were collected using the Meaningfulness of Life Checklist and analyzed using paired and independent sample t-tests. The results demonstrate a significant increase in students’ meaning in life after receiving information services, indicating that the intervention effectively strengthens personal direction, motivation, and resilience. Furthermore, gender comparison analyses reveal that female students experienced greater improvement compared to male students. These findings confirm that information services are a relevant guidance and counseling strategy, particularly in cultural contexts where values and identity play a strong role in adolescent development, such as the Minangkabau community. Abstract

This study aims to identify the role of social support and psychological capital (Psychological Capital/PsyCap) in reducing the rate of burnout in school counselors and educators through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach based on the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A total of 20 scientific articles published between 2007 and 2025 were analyzed thematically and statistically descriptively. The study's results indicate that social support from colleagues, supervisors, and the organizational environment has a significant negative impact on burnout. In addition, PsyCap, which includes self-efficacy, hope, optimism, and resilience, is a mediating factor that strengthens the relationship between social support and burnout. These findings support and confirm the importance of collaboration between social and psychological factors in maintaining the mental well-being of educators. Practically, educational institutions need to develop social support-based interventions and strengthen psychological capital (PsyCap) as a sustainable strategy for preventing burnout. Keywords: psychological capital, social support, fatigue, counselor welfare, quality education, good health and well-being
