Abstract

Career identity is one of the most important psychosocial developmental tasks for adolescents. The development of career identity in adolescence will prevent humans from experiencing identity confusion which will have an impact on further developmental tasks. This research answers the need for this measurement tool by developing and validating a career identity measurement tool called the Indonesian youth career identity scale (IYCIS). This instrument consists of 55 items in two aspects: career exploration and commitment. This study uses Rasch analysis to test the validity of the IYCIS construct. The construct validity test involved 200 high school students in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Data analysis using Winstep software provides information about the quality of respondents and instruments, items that are easy and difficult for respondents to agree on, items that are made to order, and unidimensional. The results of applying the Rasch analysis show that IYCIS is good, precise, and has an item fit with the model. IYCIS is a reliable and valid measurement tool for accurately measuring the level of student career identity. This study discusses the implications and recommendations for further research on the implementation of guidance and counseling that contains career identity as a follow-up to IYCIS performance.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of adolescent career indecision based on gender differences between male and female adolescents. This study used a quantitative descriptive method. The sampling technique employed a random sampling technique. The sample of this research was 361 students of class XII (12th grade) from 24 senior high schools in Kulon Progo Regency, Indonesia. The number of respondents based on gender consisted of 295 female and 66 male students. Data collection technique had been carried out using the career decision making difficulties questionnaire (CDDQ) in the 2022/2023 academic year through quantitative descriptive techniques and independent sample t-test. The independent sample t-test obtained the results of the Sig. less than 0.05 (0.031<0.05). Meanwhile, the results of descriptive analysis show that the level of career indecision of students who fall into the salient category is 26.44% of female students and 16.67% of male students. Thus, it can be concluded that there were respondents, both female and male students, who were included in the level of career indecision in the salient category or serious category that required assistance by a counselor to overcome its problem.

Abstract

School resilience must be strengthened for schools to be resilient and adaptable to change. To improve school resilience, change management is required. School resilience will be effective if teacher and student resilience supports it. Strengthening bonding, setting clear and consistent boundaries, teaching life skills, providing caring and support, setting and communicating high expectations, and offering opportunities for meaningful participation are all components of school resilience. On the other hand, individual resilience consists of seven components: emotional regulation, impulse control, empathy, optimism, causal analysis, self-efficacy, and reaching out. If there is a synergy of work at the macro, mezzo, and micro levels, the school resilience policy will be formed. This research aims to determine the level of school resilience and the change management strategies needed to strengthen the resilience of Indonesian schools in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The sequential explanatory mixed method approach (Cresswell) was used as the research method, and the subjects of this study were Saudi Arabia teachers and high school students. The findings of this study concluded that the average school resilience profile, as perceived by teachers and students, was in the moderately resilient category, which aligned with the individual resilience levels of teachers and students. In order to strengthen all aspects that must be owned by the school, such as the existence of fundamental values, synergy of social roles, development of competencies and skills, literacy knowledge, social punishment, and the existence of excellent programs sustainably designed by schools, the school must be able to apply the phases of change management supported by the synergy between roles.

Abstract

Developing a scale of interpersonal communication for Muslim students in Indonesia is very important because of the unique cultural and religious context that these students live in. Effective interpersonal communication is essential to fostering a supportive educational environment, improving peer relationships, and improving students' overall well-being. Currently there are no published research findings that specifically discuss measuring interpersonal communication among Muslim students in Indonesia. Therefore, this research aims to develop a valid and reliable Muslim Student Interpersonal Communication Scale (MSICS). MSICS was developed based on five aspects: openness, empathy, supportiveness, positivity, and equality. Content validity was assessed by two psychometric experts, and the results were analyzed using an inter-rater agreement model. Construct validity involved 432 Muslim junior high school students in Yogyakarta City, Indonesia, and the data was analyzed using the Rasch model. The results of the interrater agreement model analysis show that there is agreement between two psychometric experts regarding the acceptability of the statement items in the MSICS. Furthermore, the Rasch model analysis shows that the MSICS appears as a valid and reliable instrument for assessing the level of interpersonal communication among Muslim students in junior high schools in Indonesia with a variance explained by measures value of 26,7% (>20%), which means good enough to describe the measured data, and the reliability value is 0,91, which means very good. The results of this research can be used by counselors or guidance and counseling teachers to use MSICS as an instrument to measure Muslim students' interpersonal communication.
