Abstract

This community service program aims to determine the internalization method of Furudlul Ainiyah (FA), the impact, supporting and inhibiting factors of FA internalization in Madrasah Diniyah Raudlatul Muta'allimin students. This program used an educational and participatory approach to achieve Al-Quran learning targets. This program results showed that: 1). FA internalization was focused on learning the Al-Quran using the method of listening, reading, introducing makharijul letters and writing hijaiyah letters using the Iqra' ang Tartila textbook. 2). The impact of FA internalization could introduce students to hijaiyah letters, makharijul letters and how to read the Al-Quran more effectively. The santri were not only able to read, but also memorize and write. 3). Supporting factors for FA internalization were qualified companions, limited classes and the enthusiasm of students. Abstract

Batik Sendang Lamongan is one of the potentials of Sendangagung village inherited from the legacy of Sunan Sendang that needs to be developed and preserved. The majority of its batik artisans are aged 50 and above. Meanwhile, the population in Sendangagung village is predominantly represented by millennials, totaling 1,281 individuals or 18.74 percent of the population. This means that Sendangagung is predominantly inhabited by the younger generation. The lack of involvement of the younger generation in batik making becomes a problem if not handled properly. On the other hand, Sendangagung village has many entrepreneurs and batik craftsmen. Considering the vast potential of the batik village, which is not matched by high interest or motivation from the younger generation, it deserves better attention from the village government and researchers to be continuously developed and preserved. This activity aims to optimize the creative economic potential of the younger generation. This dedication utilizes the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) method, an asset-based approach owned by the Sendangagung village community. The results of this activity show that not only are the youth of the village enthusiastic about participating in the mentoring from start to finish, but also their batik skills are extraordinary. This is evidenced by the remarkable batik works they produced during the mentoring process. Furthermore, post-mentoring, the younger generation of the village feels a great responsibility to continue participating in preserving the village's culture.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum is a new curriculum aimed at improving the quality of education through a holistic approach, emphasizing the development of character, creativity, and multiple-intelligence of students. However, the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Lamongan Regency faced several challenges, one of which was the limited understanding of teachers regarding the concepts and learning methodologies contained in the curriculum. To address these challenges, mentoring was provided to Madrasah IbtidaiyahI (Islamic Elementary School) teachers (a case study in Brondong Subdistrict, Lamongan). In this mentoring program, the subject of PKM (Community Service Program) was the teachers in 35 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) under the Working Group of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (KKMI) in Brondong Subdistrict, Lamongan Regency. The assets (figuratively speaking) as the implementers of this program totaled 70 teachers, with two representatives from each madrasah. The mentoring method used the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, aiming to maximize the assets and potential of the madrasah, while involving active participation from all teachers. The mentoring results showed a significant increase in teachers' understanding of the Merdeka Curriculum, reaching 71.43%. Teachers were also able to develop lesson plans that align with the principles of flexibility and contextualization, and implement active learning methods through practical activities reinforcing the Pancasila Student Profile Project and the Rahmatan lil Alamin Student Profile (P5-PPRA). This mentoring provided benefits and positive outcomes for the madrasah and students. The madrasah became more independent and achieved better performance, while students obtained higher-quality and more meaningful learning experiences.

Abstract

In the modern era, children's awareness of Karawitan culture, especially elementary school students, is decreasing because many foreign cultures have stepped foot in Indonesia. The children's interest in studying foreign cultures is much greater than studying their own culture. This is the basis for holding Karawitan mentoring activities at SDN Ngastemi 1 Bangsal and SDN Dukuhngarjo Jatirejo, Mojokerto Regency, to stimulate and encourage students' awareness of local culture, particularly in Karawitan. The method used in this community engagement was Participatory Action Research (PAR). The data were obtained from several steps, namely visiting the village elders, introducing gamelan notation and its way, and training for gamelan. After participating in this community engagement, the children received support from teachers, parents and the surrounding community in caring for and preserving local culture.

Abstract

This community engagement was driven by the limitations of resources and adequate facilities within the early childhood education environment. The restricted or monotonous use of educational props, coupled with financial limitations within the institution, constrains the variety and creativity in the learning process. Additionally, the lack of understanding regarding the potential use of waste materials as educational props hinders more engaging teaching innovations. This community engagement aimed to introduce the creation of educational props using waste materials available within the school environment by providing engaging learning stimuli, thereby making the content delivered by teachers more effective and efficient. The approach used in this community engagement was Asset-based Community Development (ABCD). The approach enables the community to build upon existing strengths without depending on external assistance. This approach began by identifying the assets possessed by the community, which were then utilized to develop the educational institution. The outcomes of this engagement indicated some important points. First, teachers, in early childhood educational institutions in Probolinggo City, understood appropriate stimuli for the growth and development of students, demonstrating competence in pedagogic skills as one of the essential competencies for teachers. Secondly, teachers in these institutions could utilize waste materials to create Educational Play Tools (EPT) through identifying recyclable waste, training, and practical application in crafting these tools. Thirdly, teachers were capable of harnessing local potential previously untapped, which could be used to support learning activities by turning them into Educational Play Tools (EPT).

Abstract

This activity aims to explore the effectiveness of applying organic waste from the Vegetable Market in Metro City as a medium for Hermetia Illucens maggot culture, as well as to determine the ecological and economic impacts of the activity on small-scale poultry farmers in Metro City. The community service was conducted using the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) method. Several points were obtained from the conducted community service: first, the discovery and dream phase involved educating and socializing the potential of organic waste as a maggot cultivation asset, as well as formulating the desired targets. Second, the design and define phase aimed to formulate program activities to achieve the targets, including determining the timing, location, and necessary equipment. Third, the destiny phase included the implementation of the community service, which involved education and practical activities such as hatching maggot eggs, making larva maggot breeding boxes, sorting and fermenting organic waste, and constructing a production house. Based on the monitoring conducted, challenges were found in the form of predator attacks such as rats, chickens, and green flies on the maggot egg hatching containers. Evaluation was carried out by creating special containers equipped with lamp lighting and using netting as covers for the containers. Challenges were also found in the aspect of maggot growth, where the utilization of organic waste from the Metro City vegetable market was not sufficient to maximize growth. Therefore, evaluation was conducted by mixing organic waste from the Metro City vegetable market with household waste generated by each partner of the community service. Education and mentoring in the management of organic waste from the Metro City vegetable market have impacted the community's perspective on viewing organic waste as a valuable asset and their skills in managing waste as a medium for maggot cultivation.

Abstract

Smoking among teenagers has become a global issue that concerns both society and governments. Global data shows that, on average, more than 25 percent of children in each country smoke. In developing countries, this number far exceeds that of developed countries. The latest trend among children under 18 years old is shifting from conventional to electronic cigarettes. The dangers of both are no longer being considered as the trend of electronic cigarettes is on the rise. Statistics from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) indicate that the majority of children who smoke come from smoking families. Children exposed to adult smokers will experience health problems in addition to participating in smoking. The Indonesian School Kuala Lumpur (SIKL) is concerned about children picking up the habit of smoking; therefore, they hope to raise awareness among children to protect them from the dangers of smoking, both conventional and electronic. The aim of this Community Service is to increase awareness among students at SIKL to understand the dangers of smoking. The method used includes lectures and interactive discussions to stimulate children to think positively. The results of the community service show that children were enthusiastic and willing to remind each other if they encounter peers or friends smoking, including reminding their extended family members who smoke. Children were also enthusiastic about avoiding smokers to prevent themselves from becoming passive smokers. Therefore, it can be concluded that raising awareness about the dangers of smoking and the involvement of civil society in preventing smoking among children are crucial in controlling the spread of smoking-related diseases
