Abstract

This research aimed to determine the impact of students' self-confidence on their mathematical learning outcomes. This study is a qualitative research that uses survey methods. A total of 269 respondents from three schools, such as Serang City 7 State Vocational School, Plus Pakuhaji Vocational School, and Mutiara Insan Nusantara Vocational School, who were majoring in computer and network engineering, motorcycle engineering and business, accounting, sharia banking, and office management, made up the study's population of all vocational students in the cities of Serang and Tangerang. The cluster sampling approach is used to select the sample. To determine the correlation between four indicators of learning outcomes and students' levels of self-confidence, Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis was performed on the results of three daily math examinations. The findings revealed that: (1) Student self-confidence significantly influenced student learning outcomes, accounting for 70.9%; (2) The indicator of student self-confidence that had the highest effect was on the self-confidence aspect, amounting to 86.3%; (3) The effect of student learning outcomes is on the r-square value, which is similar to that of student learning outcomes, but the highest is on the value of the second daily test, which is equal to 88.1%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether mathematical anxiety affects high school students' self-efficacy. Based on the opinion expressed by Pajares and Kranzler (Watts, 2011) math self-efficacy and mathematical anxiety have a negative correlation, which means that high math anxiety is related to low math self-efficacy, or vice versa. This type of research is quantitative using a survey method. The population in this study were high school students in Banten, the research sample was class X high school students at SMAN 1 Waringinkurung, SMAN 8 Kota Serang, SMAN 1 Tirtayasa, and MAN 2 Pandeglang. The sampling technique used quota sampling method. Mathematical anxiety and self-efficacy instruments use a questionnaire that has good validity and reliability with a loading factor value for all indicators that is more than 0.5 and a construct reliability value that is more than 0.7. The results showed that math anxiety had a negative direct effect on self-efficacy of -0.33, meaning that there was a significant negative relationship between math anxiety and self-efficacy, meaning that the lower the student's mathematical anxiety, the higher the student's self-efficacy level and vice versa.

Abstract

Independent learning is one of the most important things to improve mathematical literacy skills. This study aims to conduct a literature review related to mathematical literacy skills in terms of student learning independence. The research method used in this research is SLR (Systematic Literature Review). Data collection is done by identifying or reviewing all articles that have the same research topic in this study. The articles used in this study were 28 national and international journal articles. The articles used were then analyzed and tabulated in a table in the form of the author's name, journal and research results. From this study, it was found that students with high learning independence tend to be able to solve mathematical literacy problems well, fulfill the three components of the completion process and the 7 components of the basic competence of mathematical literacy tend to be achieved. Students with moderate learning independence still make mistakes in the process of completion and final results, then they have not fulfilled all the components of the basic competence of mathematical literacy. Students with low learning independence make mistakes in solving mathematical literacy problems, cannot perform process skills well and cannot write the final answer correctly.

Abstract

Abstract: Motivation in learning is very important because it also affects the success of learning. Learning motivation is related to independent learning. If there is a strong learning motivation in students, it will create an attitude of independent learning from within students. Independent learning is also influenced by student learning methods carried out with the teacher. In the implementation of any learning method, it is always necessary for each student to learn independently. During the Covid-19 pandemic the learning method applied was limited face-to-face learning, namely learning that was carried out face-to-face and online. This study aims to determine whether there is a positive and significant influence between learning motivation on the independence of learning mathematics in SMK students and whether there is a positive and significant effect between learning methods during the limited face-to-face period on the mathematics learning independence of SMK students. To answer these problems, an ex post facto research with a quantitative approach was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Serang City. Sampling was done by random sampling technique as many as 518 students and then analyzed by the application of SEM-PLS. The results showed that learning motivation had a positive and significant effect on students' mathematics learning independence, the structural model coefficient value of 0.469. The higher students' learning motivation will make students more independent in learning mathematics. The results also show that the learning method has a positive and significant influence on the independence of learning mathematics with a structural model coefficient value of 0.418. The better and the quality of the learning methods applied, the higher the students' independence in learning mathematics. This study also revealed that learning motivation and learning methods can explain students' mathematics learning independence by 0.615 or 61.5%. So it is possible that students' mathematics learning independence is explained by other factors of 0.385 or 38.5%. With the results of this study, it is strived to continue to grow students' learning motivation and direct the learning methods applied to be more varied to increase the independence of learning mathematics for SMK students.
