Abstract

This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method with the aim of describing the characteristics of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities with low prerequisite mathematical abilities, which are given questions by applying the faded-examples technique, in terms of Polya's problem-solving theory. Based on the discussion of the results and research findings that the characteristics of students' mathematical problem solving abilities with low prerequisite mathematical abilities, which are given questions by applying the faded-examples technique, in terms of Polya's problem-solving theory can be categorized into four categories, namely: reflective, strategic, aware, and incapable. Students with the reflective category have been able to do all the problem solving steps of the Polya procedure. Students with the strategic category have been able to do the first three steps of solving the problem of the Polya procedure. Students with the category of aware are only able to do the first step of solving the problem of the Polya procedure. Students with incapable categories have not been able to do all the steps of solving the problem of the Polya procedure.

Abstract

The background of the problem is based on the low mathematics litercy of Indonesian students in PISA. Meanwhile, mathematics literacy is on of the abilities that must be mastered by students to implement mathematic in everyday life. The implementation of this research took place at MAN 1 Serang City of  2021/2022 academic year. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of mathematics  concepts understanding and reading interest on mathematics literacy skills simultaneously. The research method used is quantitative method with correlational research type. The sample involved in this study consisted of 31 students with the population is all grade XI students of MAN 1 Serang City as many as 290 students. The instruments used are test and non-test instruments. The results of this research is there is a positive and significant effect simultaneously between understanding of mathematics concepts and reading interest on mathematics literacy skills. The multiple correlation coefficient obtained is 0.658 which means that the effect of mathematics concepts understanding and reading interest simultaneously on mathematical literacy skills is 43%. The remaining 53% is influenced by other factors not examined.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the effect of self-confidence and interest on student achievement. This research is a survey research. secondary data is taken from mid-semester assessment and end-semester assessment, class X students, academic year 2020/2021. The population of this research is the students of private Madrasah Aliyah in Pandeglang Regency, zone three working group of MAN 3 Pandeglang consisting of nine Private Madrasah Aliyah. Sampling using the Slovin formula and using cluster random sampling technique, based on this technique, 191 samples were obtained. The data collection technique used a questionnaire of 18 statements, the data that had been collected was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS–SEM). The results of the study revealed that: (1) interest in learning and self-confidence together can explain students' learning achievement by 24.8% (2) There is an influence of self-confidence and interest on students' mathematics learning achievement, namely 0.460 (t = 8.662, p < 0.05) and 0.206 (t = 3.721, p<0.05).

Abstract

This qualitative study aims to obtain an overview of students' mathematical understanding in solving numeracy literacy questions in terms of the initial mathematical abilities of students at SMKN 1 Rangkasbitung. The subjects in this study were students of class X Marketing at SMKN 1 Rangkasbitung in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. The subject selection technique used was purposive sampling, which is a sampling technique with certain considerations. The researcher gave an initial ability test in the form of multiple choice and a mathematical understanding test in solving numeracy literacy questions in the form of descriptions, then the selected subjects were communicatively interviewed in conveying their ideas and ideas in solving numeracy literacy questions. The results showed that students who had early mathematical abilities in the high category and were in solving numeracy literacy questions had a relational understanding, while students who had early mathematical abilities in the low category in solving numeracy literacy questions had instrumental understanding.

Abstract

The purpose of study is to find out how to use lidimatika as a media for learning mathematics in the multiplication concept in grade III elementary school. The benefits of this study are expected to contribute to the improvement of mathematics learning in the multiplication concept in elementary schools. This study uses a quantitative research design. In this study using a quasi-experimental method using one of the models, namely the nonequivalent control group design. The results of this research are that the learning outcomes of third grade elementary school students in multiplication material can be improved through the use of lidimatika media. This is evidenced from the results of the posttest that have been obtained between the experimental class using lidimatika media and the control class using conventional methods indicating that there is a fairly clear difference in values with the acquisition of an average score of the experimental class being 89 and the control class being 69. It was also carried out hypothesis testing using the Mann Whitney test obtained an Asymp (2-tailed) value of 0.001 which value if seen based on the basics of decision making, then the value is less than 0.05 then H1 is acceptable and indicates an increase in student learning outcomes by using lidimatika media.

Abstract

Abstract: An interactive e-modul interaktife is a module in the form of a combination of two or more media (audio, text, graphics, images, animation and video) that are interactive, to convey a material, method, boundaries, and learning evaluation that is systematically designed and interesting, which can then cause a two-way relationship between the e-modul interaktife and its users. The interactive e-modul interaktife given to students must be a good and quality e-modul interaktife. Quality e-modul interaktifes can build, trigger, strengthen students' interest in learning independently and the learning process is more effective, efficient so that there is an improvement in the quality of learning. For this reason, the purpose of this research is to produce an interactive e-modul interaktife based on a valid, practical and effective heuristic strategy to train students' numeracy literacy skills, with the material used is geometry transformation. This type of research research is a development research (R&D) with a 4-D design of defining (Define), design (Design), development (Development), and dissemination (Dissemination). The subjects of this study were class XI mipa students of Al-Qudwah Integrated High School which totaled 21 students. The type of data taken is in the form of quantitative data and qualitative data, qualitative data in this study were collected using expert validity questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and quantitative data in this study were taken from numeracy literacy test instruments. Based on the results of the analysis obtained an average total validation (RTV) score from media experts 4.49 with very valid categories, material experts 4.56 with very valid categories, educational experts 4.65 with very valid categories, user response percentage 83%, this indicates that student responses to learning using interactive e-modul interaktifes based on heuristic strategies are of positive value, so that interactive e-modul interaktifes can be declared practical. Students' numeracy literacy skills after using this interactive e-modul interaktife based on heuristic strategies got a total average of 2.98 with excellent categories. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the interactive e-modul interaktife based on the vee heuristic strategy developed is suitable for use as an effective learning resource to train students' numeracy literacy skills on the topic of geometric transformation. This e-modul interaktife makes it easy for students to access flexible learning resources anywhere and anytime

Abstract

Concept understanding is a basic understanding that must be possessed by students before solving a mathematical problem. The inability of students to understand well can be caused by several factors, one of which is learning style. There are three kinds of learning styles, namely visual, auditory and kinesthetic. The purpose of this study is to analyze and describe the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who have a visual learning style based on the Skemp’s theory. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods. Data collection techniques were carried out by providing learning style questionnaires, instruments for understanding mathematical concepts, and interviews. The research subjects were students of class X Tata Boga at one of the State Vocational Schools of Serang City who had a visual learning style of 17 people with 5 students who were taken as research subjects. The results showed that subjects with the visual learning style category had different ability to understand mathematical concepts, from 17 students who had visual learning styles, 23% were in the relational understanding category, 59% were in the instrumental understanding category, and 18% did not in any category or can be categorized as not understanding the concept.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to obtain a structural equation model related to the variables of parental attention, self-efficacy, and motivation on the mathematics learning outcomes of MTs students. Knowing the influence and contribution of parental attention, self-efficacy and motivation to the mathematics learning outcomes of MTs students. This study is a quantitative study with a survey method that aims to determine the structural equation model related to the variables of parental attention, self-efficacy, and learning motivation on the mathematics learning outcomes of MTs students. The results of the study revealed that parental attention, self-efficacy and learning motivation had a positive and significant influence on MT students' mathematics learning outcomes. -have predictive values of 0.315 ( t = 6.685, p = 0.000), 0.439 ( t = 8054, p = 0.000) and 0.196 ( t = 4.013, p = 0.000). The contribution given by parents' attention, self-efficacy of learning motivation has a positive and significant influence on learning outcomes by 82.20%, the rest is influenced by factors not contained in this study.

Abstract

Numerical literacy used to the ability understanding various contexts mathematics of daily life problems. One of that success factors is metacognition influenced. An important role of metacognition process to regulating and controlling cognitive thinking. This qualitative study aims to describe students' metacognition processes in solving numeracy questions geometrical and measuring domain. The subjects who are students of class IX.F SMPN 1 Malingping, Lebak Regency. The selected subjects completed successfully the challenge of numeracy on three cognitive levels of geometry measurement domain, communicative, and willing to subjects. Collected data got from tests and interviews. The results showed that the students' metacognitive process activities occurred different qualities and tendencies. Metacognitive awareness activities are identified from solution plan, gather information and fulfill prerequisites, both in pictures or sentences. Metacognitive regulation activities are reflected to carry out planning skills execution, strategies working used formula concepts or direct to the point execution. Metacognitive evaluation activities to consider limited knowledge and results quality, correctly self-assess answer questions, an error, explain solutions, re-check and final conclusions. There are students who able an assess error and correct them, but also those who don’t correct them because self-confidence who thinks what they are doing is appropriate.

Abstract

The difficulties experienced by students can cause errors in solving problems. Students' mistakes in obtaining the right solution in learning mathematics are important to be corrected to improve students' high order thinking skills. One of the basic competencies that students must have in quadrilateral material is solving contextual problems related to the area and perimeter of a quadrilateral. A total of 9 students were used as research subjects because they had consistent response and interview data. Errors made by students in solving HOTS questions based on Newman in this study were writing errors Encoding Error and process Skill Error. The factors that cause students to make mistakes in solving the HOTS questions on the area of a quadrilateral are carelessness, concepts, interests, and the quality of the teacher.
