Abstract

This study investigates the effects of experiential learning strategies, namely science experiments, outdoor learning activities, and problem-solving skills, on the ecoliteracy of early childhood learners. Employing a quasi-experimental quantitative design with a 2x2 factorial arrangement. The number of students who became research participants was 50, consisting of 20 boys and 30 girls. The research was conducted among students enrolled in early childhood education institutions (RA) in Deli Serdang. The results demonstrate that instructional strategies significantly improve children's environmental knowledge, attitudes, and environmental behavior care. Moreover, children with higher levels of problem-solving ability exhibited greater ecoliteracy. These findings emphasize the critical role of integrating active learning methods and the development of higher-order thinking skills from an early age to foster environmentally responsible future generations.

Abstract

The low expressive language skills in students are characterized by difficulty constructing sentences, expressing ideas and feelings, and interacting verbally. Some students are only able to give short answers and are even silent when asked. This research aims to improve the expressive language skills of children aged 4-5 years through the spinning wheel media at TKIT Mutiara Islam Palopo City using the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method with the Kurt Lewin model, involving two cycles with four meetings in each cycle. The research subjects were 13 children from group A. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using quantitative data in the form of student assessment scores for each cycle and qualitative data from observations in the learning process.  The research results showed a significant improvement. At pre-cycle, most children were in the "Not Yet Appearing" (NYA) and "Starting to Appear" (SA) categories. After cycle II, there was an increase in the "Already Appeared" (AA) and "Very Well Developing" (VWD) categories, respectively by 46% and 54%. The application of spinning wheel media has proven to be effective in improving children's expressive language skills through interactive and fun activities.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and assess an inclusive learning module designed to enhance the language development of children with special educational needs (CSEN) in an early childhood education setting. The module, grounded in Kurikulum Merdeka principles, was specifically tailored to address the language acquisition challenges faced by children with special needs. A Research and Development (R&D) approach, following the 4D model, was employed for module development, involving expert validation, teacher and parent feedback, and pilot testing. The results indicated significant improvements in vocabulary and sentence construction among all children involved in the study. Teachers and parents reported high satisfaction with the module’s usability and its effectiveness in supporting language development, confirming the importance of personalized educational resources. The study demonstrates the value of a structured, child-centered approach in fostering language skills in CSEN, particularly in inclusive early childhood education settings. The findings suggest that this module could serve as a model for other schools, but future research with a larger sample size and longer implementation period is needed to explore the long-term impact and applicability of such educational tools.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a Japanese teaching program implemented in Gorontalo City, Indonesia, in fostering character development in early childhood education. Using the discrepancy evaluation model and a mixed-methods approach, this study involved 20 children, 6 parents, 7 teachers, and 3 administrative personnel at Sakura Kids Preschool and Day Care. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. Quantitative data were derived from structured observations on students using a character development rubric and were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Qualitative data from semi-structured interviews with teachers, parents, and administrators supported the quantitative findings and provided deeper insight into implementation practices and cultural adaptation. Results indicate that most children demonstrated good to excellent development in independence, discipline, and responsibility, and social interaction. This study provides concrete recommendations for integrating culturally adapted, specifically Japanese-character-based teaching programs into Indonesia’s early childhood education system, emphasizing the importance of contextualization, consistency, and collaboration among stakeholders.
