Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of low child independence. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of attachment on the independence of children aged 5-6 years. Using a quantitative research approach with the ex-post facto method. The population used in this study were 176 children aged 5-6 years in RA throughout the District of Jombang - Cilegon, Banten. Sampling using the slovin formula as many as 63 children. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, with data analysis techniques to test the hypothesis t. Based on the findings regarding attachment to the independence of children aged 5-6 years that there are children who have high independence, the attachment of parents is high and vice versa. Children's independence is seen in children's behavior while in the school environment and outside of school. The results of attachment research on the independence of children aged 5-6 years show a significant value of 0.034 <0.05, so it can be interpreted that there is a significant influence between attachments on the independence of children aged 5-6 years.

Abstract

The natural environment provides a variety of stimuli to develop skills for direct observation and simple research for early childhood. They are invited to observe, identify patterns, collect data, and make conclusions based on evidence obtained through scientific procedures. These skills are essential in the scientific method and strengthen a child's scientific abilities. This study aimed to determine the skills of children's science processes when playing outdoors. This experimental research with a type of quasi-experimental design, using samples of students in group B of Taman Paud Doa Ibu Kindergarten, totaling 20 students. The results showed that outdoor play activities improved students' scientific abilities with indicators of children's ability to observe, compare, and classify. The results of this study also show that children's enthusiasm for learning and give birth to children's feelings of curiosity are very high.

Abstract

The low ability of children's critical thinking is caused by various things, one of which is the limitations of educators in providing space for students to stimulate necessary thinking skills in the learning process. The learning approach, methods, and media have yet to help children fully build critical thinking skills. Overcoming these problems is one way that can support the achievement of children's necessary thinking skills with the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) learning model. This research method uses classroom action research methods to improve and increase the quality of learning regarding critical thinking skills. Based on the study results, there was an increase in all indicators of critical thinking in the development of student learning outcomes after being given action. The ability to think critically in children is evidenced by the average achievement category of Very Developed Children (BSB), with a percentage of in cycle one of 48.75% and in cycle two reaching 80.25%. The application of STEAM learning can improve critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Language literacy or pre-literacy in early childhood is the ability to read and write and analyze, respond, and use language that can be applied through reading corners, drawing activities, and a culture of reading at home in collaboration between parents and schools. This study aims to determine the application of literacy learning and the methods and media applied to literacy learning in group A of PAUD Al-Kautsar Cilegon. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. Data collection used in this research is observation, interview, and documentation. The results showed that the application of language literacy learning in group A of PAUD Al-Kautsar Cilegon looks quite optimal in its application by the literacy program that should be, starting from the arrangement of classes and environments rich in literacy as well as facilities provided by schools such as reading corners and in its application children are not taught directly to read and write but are introduced to reading and writing with habituation activities that have been designed by the school, and in its application there are several learning methods and various learning media that support the application of literacy learning.

Abstract

The world of education has three domains that students must master: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. The cognitive domain is oriented toward mastery of science and technology, and the affective domain is related to attitude, morality, spirit, and character. In contrast, the psychomotor domain is linked to procedural skills and tends to be mechanical. However, in the reality of learning in schools, efforts are always made to balance these three domains, but in fact, the dominant domain is the cognitive and then psychomotor domains; the result is that students are rich in hard skills but lacking in soft skills because the affective domain is ignored. The speed of technology and the rapid development of the times require people with character who can adapt to their environment and keep up with technological growth. For this reason, character strengthening and education are essential. Researchers use this type of qualitative research because qualitative research requires data and information in the form of descriptions and narratives to reveal the meaning behind the informants' descriptions/descriptions. A child's character will be formed from the habits they get at school and home. Therefore, good cooperation between teachers and parents is needed so that interpretation can occur between the habits made by teachers and parents.

Abstract

This study explores early literacy concepts for young children among parents in low-class communities. It focuses on parents’ interpretations of their children’s development in early literacy and how these influence due to their children’s education. The aim of the research is to illuminate parents’ interpretations regarding early literacy in their children’s education. Through the classical phenomenological approach, seven mothers were interviewed, and the collected data was analyzed using Colaizzi’s method to describe the themes. The findings reveal that they perceived early literacy as an ability to read and write that children must achieve before they are seven years old. They also mentioned it for fulfilling entry requirements for the primary level, avoiding negative stigma from other parents, labeling smart children, and parents’ anxiety for children’s confidence in the future. As a consequence, it allows parents to have reading class preparation, over-involvement in children’s learning activities, providing learning posters, and parents’ home teaching. This study also discussed the concept of early literacy based on human development theories and how it can contribute to sustaining and empowering parents dealing with meaningful learning in cultivating literacy for children in the perception year.

Abstract

This article focuses on analyzing fathers' communication patterns in shaping early childhood science skills in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The main problem identified is the changing dynamics of communication between fathers and children, and its potential impact on the development of children's science skills. The purpose of this study is to identify effective father communication patterns in stimulating children's interest and science skills in the AI era. The research method was qualitative case study of five fathers. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and content analysis of father-child interactions in the context of science learning. Then analyzed using the Miles Huberman model and then data validity with data triangulation. The results showed that father's communication focused on open-ended questions, presenting information with a creative approach, and using AI technology as a learning tool can improve children's science skills. Fathers' understanding and support of technological development is also a key factor in building children's science literacy in the AI era. The findings contribute to practical understanding for parents, educators and policy makers to shape a communication environment that supports the development of children's science skills. The practical implications can be applied in designing family education programs and science learning strategies for early childhood that are appropriate to the development of AI technology.

Abstract

The mastery of English from an early age is an essential requirement. Kindergarten teachers must equip early childhood studentswith sufficient knowledge and skills in English. It starts with teaching them vocabulary, which facilitates their English communication. However, the main problem often faced is the selection of practical and enjoyable vocabulary teaching methods, as their learning style differs from that of older students. Therefore, this research aimed to investigate processes in teaching vocabulary to early childhood students. This study was conducted at Generation for Christ School using a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews involving seven teachers as research informants. The data were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach. The results showed that the teaching methods applied by teachers in teaching English vocabulary to early childhood students are movement and songs, Total Physical Response (TPR), games, Grammar Translation Method (GTM), and Communicative Language Teaching (CLT).
