Abstract

This study aims to determine the contribution of diagnostic assessment and formative assessment to the quality of early childhood learning. Based on the conditions at TK Al-Hikmah, diagnostic and formative assessments have not been implemented consistently and systematically in the learning process. Previous studies have mostly discussed the two types of assessment separately, so there is still limited research examining their simultaneous contribution to the quality of early childhood learning. This study employed an ex post facto approach with a quantitative method and correlational technique. The research subjects were early childhood learners, while the data collection technique was carried out using questionnaires. Data analysis used descriptive and inferential statistics through multiple linear regression. The results showed that diagnostic assessment and formative assessment simultaneously contributed significantly to the quality of early childhood learning. This indicates that the integrated implementation of both types of assessment can support the improvement of learning quality more optimally. In addition, partially, diagnostic assessment made a significant contribution to the quality of early childhood learning, meaning that the better the implementation of diagnostic assessment, the higher the quality of learning. Formative assessment also made a significant contribution to the quality of early childhood learning, indicating that the proper implementation of formative assessment can support a more effective learning process. Thus, it can be concluded that diagnostic assessment and formative assessment play an important role in improving the quality of early childhood learning, both simultaneously and partially. Therefore, educators are encouraged to improve their competence in designing and implementing diagnostic and formative assessments through training and professional development to support the improvement of the quality of early childhood learning.

Abstract

Urban Heat Island (UHI) is a phenomenon of increasing temperature in urban areas influenced by reduced vegetation and increasing surface temperature. This study aims to analyze vegetation distribution, land surface temperature, and UHI intensity in Sirimau District using Landsat imagery from 2019 and 2022. The analysis was conducted using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Land Surface Temperature (LST), and Urban Heat Island (UHI) parameters. The results showed that NDVI values in 2019 ranged from −0.0127 to 0.8531, while in 2022 they ranged from −0.017 to 0.8309. Low NDVI values were generally found in the urban center, whereas high NDVI values were identified in areas with dense vegetation. LST values in 2019 ranged from 18.524 °C to 28.546 °C, while in 2022 they ranged from 15.359 °C to 25.382 °C. Higher surface temperatures were concentrated in urban and settlement areas, while lower temperatures were found in vegetated areas. UHI values in 2019 ranged from −1.946 °C to 2.555 °C, while in 2022 they ranged from −2.489 °C to 2.942 °C. The study indicates an inverse relationship between NDVI, LST, and UHI, where areas with low vegetation density tend to have higher surface temperatures and stronger UHI intensity compared to vegetated areas. These findings highlight the important role of vegetation in reducing surface temperature and mitigating UHI effects. The results of this study are expected to support sustainable urban planning, the development of green open spaces, and climate adaptation strategies in Sirimau District.

Abstract

Early reading skills are fundamental abilities that students must master. In practice, some students still experience difficulties in developing these skills. The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of flannel board media based on the SAS (Structural Analytic Synthetic) method on the early reading skills of second-grade students at SDN 15 Mataram. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The population consisted of all second-grade students at SDN 15 Mataram, totaling 53 students. Saturated sampling was used, resulting in class IIB as the experimental group and class IIA as the control group. The experimental group received treatment using flannel board media based on the SAS method, while the control group was taught through conventional methods. Data collection instruments included tests and observation sheets, with data gathered through performance tests and observations. The independent variable (X) in this study was the flannel board media based on the SAS (Structural Analytic Synthetic) method, while the dependent variable (Y) was the early reading skills of second-grade students at SDN 15 Mataram. Based on the hypothesis test results, the significance value (2-tailed) was 0,013 < 0,05. This indicates that, according to the independent sample t-test, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In other words, there is a significant difference in the mean early reading skills between the experimental class taught using the SAS-based flannel board media and the control class taught with traditional methods. Therefore, it can be concluded that the SAS-based flannel board media has a significant effect on the early reading skills of second-grade students at SDN 15 Mataram.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) assisted by e-LKPD Design Thinking on Renewable Energy (DTRE) in improving students’ critical thinking skills and learning motivation. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was employed. The sample consisted of 35 students in the experimental class (PjBL assisted by e-LKPD DTRE) and 34 students in the control class (PjBL with conventional worksheets) at a senior high school in Bandung. Data were collected using a validated critical thinking test and a learning motivation questionnaire and analyzed using normalized gain (N-gain) and non-parametric statistical tests. The results showed that both groups improved; however, the experimental class achieved a higher N-gain (0.42, moderate) than the control class (0.28, low). A significant difference was found between groups (p < .001) with a moderate effect size (r = 0.443). The highest improvement occurred in the elementary clarification indicator (N-gain = 0.54), indicating that structured project activities supported students in identifying and explaining problems more systematically. Learning motivation was categorized as moderate (66.09%), with the highest score in the relevance dimension (72.22%), suggesting that the learning approach helped connect concepts with real-life contexts. In conclusion, integrating e-LKPD DTRE within PjBL effectively enhances students’ critical thinking skills and supports meaningful and contextual learning, with potential for further refinement to strengthen students’ motivation.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Augmented Reality (AR) media on fifth-grade students’ understanding of geometric solid concepts at SDN 27 Cakranegara. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research population consisted of 43 fifth-grade students divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data collection techniques included observation and essay tests administered during the pretest and posttest. Data analysis was conducted through normality testing, homogeneity testing, and hypothesis testing using an independent sample t-test. The findings revealed that the experimental class obtained a higher posttest mean score (68.91) compared to the control class (55.60). The hypothesis test results indicated a significance value of 0.009 < 0.05 and a calculated t value of 2.729 > t table of 2.013, indicating that H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the PBL model assisted by AR media had a significant effect on students’ understanding of geometric solid concepts. The use of AR media also enhanced students’ activeness, enthusiasm, and engagement during the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms and implementation of diagnostic assessment and summative assessment in Indonesian language learning on the topic of folk poetry texts for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 14 Mataram. This study employed a descriptive qualitative research design. Data were obtained through document studies and observations. The data sources included teaching modules or lesson plans (RPP) and classroom learning activities. The research focused on Indonesian language learning with the topic of folk poetry texts for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 14 Mataram, where assessment implementation has been applied since the 2022/2023 academic year. Based on the initial observation conducted on April 21, 2026, students showed relatively positive responses to cognitive diagnostic assessments because they were conducted at the beginning of the learning process and were not overly demanding, allowing students to demonstrate their initial abilities more comfortably. In contrast, students tended to be more serious during summative assessments because these were related to the learning outcomes they had achieved. However, several challenges were identified in the implementation process, including differences in students’ abilities and varying levels of learning motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning model assisted by Genially-based snakes and ladders media on the reading comprehension ability of fourth-grade students at SDN 28 Cakranegara. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of 60 students, including 30 students in the experimental class and 30 students in the control class. Data collection techniques included tests and observations. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics through normality tests, homogeneity tests, and Independent Sample t-tests. The results showed that the average Post-Test score of the experimental class was 70.83, which was higher than the control class score of 68.00. In addition, the hypothesis testing result obtained a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.004 < 0.05, indicating that H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. The effect size calculation using Cohen’s d formula obtained a value of 0.19, which was categorized as a small effect. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Discovery Learning model assisted by Genially-based snakes and ladders media had an effect on students’ reading comprehension ability.

Abstract

The low level of mathematical problem-solving ability among elementary school students remains a challenge in improving the quality of mathematics learning. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the mathematical problem-solving ability of fourth-grade students at SDN 4 Kuranji. The research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population and sample consisted of all 30 fourth-grade students. The instrument used was a mathematical problem-solving test based on four indicators proposed by Polya. Data were collected through pretest and posttest, then analyzed using normality testing, hypothesis testing, and N-Gain score calculation. The results showed that the average pretest score of 28.47 increased to 76.67 in the posttest. The normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed, with significance values of 0.526 for the pretest and 0.365 for the posttest (> 0.05). The hypothesis test yielded a significance value of 0.001 (< 0.05), indicating a significant effect after the implementation of the PBL model. The N-Gain score of 0.677 was categorized as moderate. Therefore, the Problem Based Learning model has a positive and effective impact on improving students’ mathematical problem-solving ability.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the School Field Introduction Program (Program Pengenalan Lapangan Persekolahan/PLP) in developing the social and professional competencies of prospective Early Childhood Education (PAUD) teachers. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design and was conducted at three partner PAUD institutions, namely TK Al-Banna, TK DWP Dikpora Ampenan, and TK Nurul Iman Sekarbela. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis process involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the implementation of PLP included observation activities, teaching assistance, and guided teaching practice. The program contributed to the development of students’ social competencies, as reflected in their communication skills, collaboration, empathy, and adaptability within the school environment. In addition, PLP also played a significant role in enhancing students’ professional competencies, particularly in mastering learning materials, planning and implementing instruction, classroom management, and understanding child development assessment. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the School Field Introduction Program (PLP) plays an important role in preparing university students to become prospective PAUD teachers with strong social and professional competencies.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of community empowerment programs in improving social welfare and the economic independence of rural communities in Baraka District, Enrekang Regency. This study aimed to describe the role of community empowerment programs, the supporting and inhibiting factors, and their impact on the social welfare and economic independence of rural communities. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research was conducted in Baraka District, Enrekang Regency, from February to April 2026. The research informants consisted of 9 individuals, including sub-district officials, village officials, community empowerment program implementers, community leaders, and community members participating in the program. Informants were selected using purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques. The data sources consisted of primary and secondary data. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, member checking, and prolonged observation. The results showed that community empowerment programs played an important role in improving skills, social participation, and the economic independence of rural communities. This study implies the importance of strengthening sustainable community empowerment programs through skills training and community business assistance.
