Abstract

This article discusses and examines the Qur'anic verses on creativity, competence, human concepts, and science in the perspective of the Qur'an in an effort to build an integrative understanding of human character and abilities. This research uses the library research method by analyzing the verses of the Qur'an and the opinions of mufasir and scholars related to human nature, the potential of reason, creativity, and the concept of science. The results of the study show that the Qur'an views humans as beings with great potential (potentialist people), who are endowed with intellect, heart, intuition, and creative ability to manage life. Creativity and competence are considered part of the caliphate's mandate, while science is the main foundation for the perfection of human duties as servants and caliphs on earth. This research emphasizes that creativity and competence in Islam are inseparable from the value of monotheism and the orientation of benefits. Other findings show that the concept of man in the Qur'an is not only oriented towards external potential, but also emphasizes the importance of self-awareness, faith, and the ability to understand God's signs in the universe. Meanwhile, science is understood as a gift as well as a mandate that must be developed through observation, reflection, and deep meaning methods of reality. In conclusion, the Qur'an provides a philosophical and practical foundation for the development of human creativity and competence, and offers a scientific paradigm that is integrative, humanistic, and oriented towards divine values. This article is expected to be an academic contribution in strengthening the paradigm of Islamic education that is relevant to the needs of the times.

Abstract

21st-century learning demands innovative learning models that develop students' critical thinking skills, character, and collaborative abilities. In the context of Islamic elementary education, Problem-Based Learning (PBL ) is considered relevant for improving learning outcomes while instilling Islamic values. This study aims to analyze the implementation of PBL  in Islamic elementary schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah), the variety of models used, the supporting and inhibiting factors, and their impact on student and teaching outcomes. The study employed a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained from scientific journals, books, research reports, and policy documents relevant to the research topic. Data were then analyzed through data categorization, synthesis, and triangulation. The analysis shows that the implementation of PBL  improves students' higher-order thinking skills, including analysis, evaluation, and synthesis of information, as well as increasing learning motivation, active participation, collaboration, and character development through the internalization of Islamic values, responsibility, tolerance, and empathy. In addition to its impact on students, the implementation of PBL  also impacts all aspects of the teaching staff, particularly in improving pedagogical competence, creativity in lesson design, classroom management skills, skills in guiding student discussions and collaboration, and teacher readiness to implement innovative, student-centered learning models. The success of PBL  implementation is influenced by teacher readiness, the availability of facilities and infrastructure, a conducive learning environment, and school institutional support. The conclusion of this study indicates that PBL  is effectively implemented in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah because it not only improves student learning outcomes cognitively, affectively, and psychomotorically but also supports the professional development of teachers. Therefore, this study recommends ongoing training for teachers related to PBL  implementation, the provision of adequate learning facilities, and the strengthening of school policies to support innovative, problem-solving-based learning.

Abstract

Abstrac: Ethnopedagogy has significant potential to enhance students’ critical thinking skills through the integration of local cultural values into the learning process. Critical thinking is an essential skill that needs to be developed in elementary school students, particularly in understanding science concepts such as matter and its changes. This study aims to develop an ethnopedagogy-oriented LMS (Learning Management System) to improve students’ critical thinking skills on the topic of matter and its changes in fourth-grade elementary school. The problem addressed in this study is the low level of students’ critical thinking skills, influenced by conventional teaching practices, limited use of innovative learning media, and the lack of integration of local cultural values in science (IPAS) learning. This study employed a R&D (Research and Development) method using the Alessi and Trollip model, which consists of planning, design, and development stages. The subjects of this study were fourth-grade elementary school students. The instruments used included expert validation sheets, response questionnaires, and tests (pre-test and post-test).The results showed that the LMS was categorized as highly feasible based on expert validation, with scores of 90% from material experts and 94% from media experts, as well as positive responses from teachers (96,7%) and students (96%). The LMS was also proven effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills, as indicated by an N-Gain score of 0.74 in the high category.
