Abstract

Schoolchildren are assets for the Indonesian state, and in order to accomplish this, school health unit, or UKS, must be developed and maintained. However, in order for UKS to succeed, it needs the assistance of all essential stakeholders, including students, throughout its implementation. As a result, the effective implementation of UKS necessitates a cadre of students who serve as one of the spearheads. Indirectly, health cadres serve as role models for promoting health in the school community and environment. The objective of empowering health cadres is to ensure the success of the UKS program and to promote school health. This practice also attempts to enhance all students' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. The service approach entails empowering the community via the formation of Pelopor Siswa Duta Kecil (SiDuCiL), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting health through the training of school health cadres. As a consequence of this activity, "SiDuCiL" school cadres have been formed, who are school students' pioneers in implementing health promotion in schools.

Abstract

Margasari village has a mangrove area of approximately 700 ha. As the main actors in mangrove management, the people of Margasari Village need to be equipped with basic knowledge about the role and function of mangroves, mangrove zoning, and types of mangrove vegetation. The purpose of this activity is to increase people's knowledge about mangroves, change people's mindsets towards mangrove conservation, and improve the ability to manage and use mangroves wisely and sustainably. Lectures and discussions as well as demonstrations are used as outreach methods. This activity is able to increase public understanding of the role and function of mangroves, so that it can change the mindset of people who are afraid of the law in maintaining mangroves and they can participate in preserving mangroves. A good understanding of mangrove zoning will change the mindset of the community, which initially considered the most important mangrove plant species to be Rhizophora spp, to all types of mangrove vegetation having an important role in the ecosystem. Increased knowledge about mangrove vegetation types has provided awareness that the Margasari Village area has a very favorable location for various types of mangroves, so that it can be optimized to improve community welfare.

Abstract

The low quality of life of hemodialysis (HD) patients at the Riau Province referral hospital, Arifin Achmad Hospital, is due to dialysis adequacy and low activity levels of hemodialysis (HD) patients. The aim of this community service is to improve HD nurses' intradialytic exercise knowledge and skills. Training HD nurses on intradialytic exercise is the method of performing community service activities, with implementation approaches including sharing material and skill simulation. The result is that HD nurses have more knowledge and abilities concerning intradialytic exercise, with an average score of 94.3 percent on the post-test. Furthermore, nurses are able to share intradialytic exercise knowledge and skills with HD patients, therefore it is believed that HD patients will be able to use intradialytic exercise to improve their quality of life.

Abstract

Complementary foods for breast milk (MP-ASI) are needed as additional food if breast milk intake does not meet the needs of toddlers. So far, the practice of giving MP-ASI is often ignored, especially in terms of nutrient density. This is due to the lack of knowledge and skills of mothers and posyandu cadres in making nutrient-dense MP-ASI. The purpose of this program is to increase the knowledge of mothers and posyandu cadres about the manufacture of MP-ASI made from nutrient-dense local ingredients. The method used is training with video tutorials on making MP-ASI made from local ingredients and educational videos related to MP-ASI. This program provides significant benefits because there is an increase in knowledge after participating in the training (97.74% > 68.11%), both in the aspect of making MP-ASI made from local ingredients and processing quality MP-ASI, especially from mixed food ingredients (BMC). Other than that, the activity provides a sustainable impact in order to meet the nutritional needs of toddlers
