Abstract

This community service initiative aimed to empower batik artisans in Pamekasan and Pacet villages by enhancing their economic prospects. The team disseminated automated steam engine technology for eco-printing batik to expedite the production process. The activities involved training in various aspects, including eco-printing, automated steam engine usage, cost calculation, and product branding. The outcomes revealed the unique appeal of eco-printing batik motifs, which have become a trend among environmental enthusiasts and fashionistas. The technology dissemination also streamlined the production process, allowing for 18 rolls of fabric to be steamed simultaneously, ultimately reducing production costs. Additionally, batik artisans gained the ability to determine product prices and market their creations through e-commerce platforms.

Abstract

Pre-eclampsia and eclampsia are the primary causes of maternal and infant mortality and morbidity. The incidence of preeclampsia is 7-10% of pregnancies and it is the second leading cause of maternal death in Indonesia. Preeclampsia can also lead to fetal abnormalities and intrauterine fetal death. Management of preeclampsia focuses on reducing the risk of elevated blood pressure and its treatment. This includes non-pharmacological approaches (such as lifestyle modifications through health education) and pharmacological treatments (medications). The aim of this activity is to enhance pregnant women's understanding of the risks associated with preeclampsia during pregnancy, improve their ability to detect preeclampsia early, and foster public enthusiasm for prenatal check-ups by healthcare providers. The activity involves counselling sessions on preeclampsia and its associated risks, followed by discussions. This program was attended by 10 pregnant women at Ngimbang, Lamongan Regional Hospital. The results indicate an improvement in mothers' understanding of strategies for preventing hypertension during pregnancy.

Abstract

The higher prevalence of stunting in South Sulawesi compared to the national average poses a significant health concern for children, thus necessitating accelerated efforts to reduce stunting. One of the updated strategies for accelerating stunting reduction is the family-centered approach through mentoring families at risk of stunting via the formation of Family Mentor Teams (TPK). Therefore, the objective of this community service is to enhance the role of TPKs by providing comprehensive training on the handling and prevention of stunting from pre-conception to children aged 0-59 months. The implementation method utilizes community-based participatory research (CBPR). The activity was attended by 139 TPKs from 12 districts. The results of the activity demonstrate the effectiveness of the training, as evidenced by an increase in participants' knowledge scores in the post-test (12.96 ± 1.44) compared to the pre-test scores (11.12 ± 1.73).

Abstract

Cisantana Village is endowed with abundant natural resources due to its geographical location on the slopes of Mount Ciremai, making it a potential tourist village. However, this potential has not been optimally utilized due to the lack of proper management of the village's land resources. Therefore, providing assistance in identifying and cultivating medicinal plants has emerged as a viable solution to prepare Cisantana as a Herbal Tourism destination. This community service activity aimed to disseminate information about medicinal plants identified through exploration and expeditions in Cisantana Village, and to enhance participants' skills in cultivating these valuable plants. The participants in this activity were members of the Dahlia Integrated Health Post Working Group and the Cisantana Village Government. The results of the activity revealed that there are 26 types of herbal plants in Cisantana Village. Furthermore, there was an increase in public understanding of the benefits of medicinal plants, from 65% to 80%, and an increase in understanding of how to cultivate medicinal plants, from 70% to 85%.

Abstract

A crucial responsibility of teachers lies in fostering innovative learning processes. Meaningful learning experiences facilitate students' comprehension of the subject matter. Consequently, the need arises for instructional media to serve as teaching aids, cultivating an engaging learning environment for students. The core concept of instructional media lies in facilitating students' understanding from abstract to concrete concepts. Its primary functions include serving as a learning resource, providing information and knowledge to students. Furthermore, instructional media can motivate learning, reinforce previously learned material, and stimulate students. One such innovative tool is the "rumah listrik cahaya" (Rulisca). Rulisca's design is rooted in the instructional media needs of science education and the psychological conditions of phase B or fourth graders in elementary schools. This medium is specifically tailored for the topic of energy transformation. During its implementation, students are guided to comprehend the relationship between solar panels and LED lights, enabling them to grasp the concrete process of energy transformation.

Abstract

Protected forests serve as the fundamental protection for the support system of life, regulating water resources, preventing floods, controlling erosion, mitigating saltwater intrusion, and preserving soil fertility. However, in reality, many protected forests are converted into agricultural land. To address this issue, the government grants land use permits through the Community Forest (HKm) system. The HKm system typically involves planting a combination of agricultural and forestry crops (agroforestry). The variety of crops grown in one area yields abundant harvests, but it also generates a significant amount of waste. Consequently, waste becomes a problem, although plant waste can be utilized to make compost. The objective of this community service activity is to provide education and training on making compost blocks. The method employed in this activity is education and training provided to farmers. The results of this community service activity enhance the knowledge of the Pujo Makmur Farmer Group regarding the benefits of compost blocks, the process of making them, and their usage.
