Abstract

Gross motor development is one of the crucial elements in the growth and development of elementary school children. One type of physical activity that can support this progress is the forward roll movement in floor gymnastics. This study aims to understand the role of forward roll training in improving students' gross motor skills in elementary schools. The method used is qualitative research with a case study approach, involving two physical education teachers at an elementary school in Sumedang Regency. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The research findings indicate that forward roll movements are very effective in improving large muscle strength (core, arms, legs), body coordination, and balance. Teachers apply gradual and flexible strategies according to students' physical abilities, and combine character and cross-disciplinary values in the learning process. Indicators of successful gross motor development include improving movement techniques, courage to try, and enthusiasm in practicing. The main obstacles in forward roll training are students' fear and limited equipment, which are overcome by playing methods and using existing tools. These findings confirm the significance of optimizing forward roll training as a component in physical education teaching strategies in elementary schools.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to map the scope of available evidence, identify key concepts, and existing research gaps related to the influence of coach-athlete intimacy on various dimensions of athlete psychology. This study used a scoping method, so that it could analyze and explore gaps in the existing literature. Literature searches included PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science (WOS), PsycINFO, SPORTDiscus, Garuda. The criteria for articles were in English and Indonesian between 2015 - 2025, discussing the relationship between coaches and athletes and its impact on athlete psychology, publications in peer-reviewed journals. So that 5 articles were found that were worthy of analysis. The results are that coach-athlete intimacy has been shown to reduce anxiety, increase motivation and self-confidence. In addition, coach-athlete intimacy can be a mediator between training performance and other psychological factors. So the quality of the coach-athlete relationship is an important foundation in the sports coaching process. Further research is expected to deepen other methodologies and analyses such as gender, age, type of sport, coach competence, in order to reveal more about athlete psychology from coach-athlete intimacy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine of implementation the traditional game of the ‘ular naga’ in improving the locomotor movement of kindergarten children aged 4-5 years. This type of research is a quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest. Then the sample consisted of 64 children aged 4-5 years from kindergartens in Paguyangan District, Brebes, Indonesia. There are 32 children who receive treatment using the traditional game 'ular naga' or the experimental group (EG) and 32 children with games that are played freely or the control group (CG). The intervention was carried out for 8 weeks with 2 meetings each week, on Tuesday and Friday, starting at 07.30 - 09.00. Locomotor movement assessment using a validated rubik (table 1). The results of the t-test are EG and CG have an effect on locomotor movement (EG = sig. 0,000 and CG = sig. 0,037). However, the independent t-test showed sig. 0.000 which means that the experimental group (EG) using the traditional 'ular naga' game is recommended to improve locomotor skills in kindergarten children aged 4-5 years. Future research can explore the influence of other traditional games, utilize technology to measure motor development in more detail, and expand the duration of observation to see long-term effects.

Abstract

Low self-confidence remains a major challenge in the development of athletes with disabilities, particularly in the context of competitive sports. Low self-confidence can hinder motivation, reduce performance, and increase the risk of social isolation. While sports are believed to improve psychological aspects, there have been few studies that specifically evaluate the impact of martial arts such as judo on the self-confidence of athletes with disabilities. This study aims to examine the influence of participation in judo on the self-confidence of athletes with disabilities, particularly those who are visually impaired, based on the theory of self-efficacy. The study employs a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 11 national judo team athletes as subjects. Data were collected through a self-efficacy questionnaire covering four dimensions: mastery experience, vicarious experience, verbal persuasion, and physiological-emotional conditions. The results showed an average decrease in scores from 60.18 to 58.73; however, the increase in maximum scores and response variability post-intervention indicated complex individual dynamics. These findings indicate that judo has potential as a tool for psychological strengthening, but requires a more personalized training approach and integrated psychological support. This study suggests the need for further research using stronger experimental methods and a broader population to gain a more comprehensive understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the catching technique skills of athletes from the Jambi University Cricket Student Activity Unit (UKM). Catching technique is one of the fundamental aspects in cricket that greatly determines the success of the team, especially in preventing the opponent from scoring points. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with a survey approach. The sample in this study were all members of the Jambi University Cricket UKM totaling 20 people (10 male and 10 female), who were selected using the total sampling technique. The instrument used was an observation sheet for catching technique skills, which included four stages of catching technique: basic, bouncing bottom ball, rolling bottom ball, and top ball. The results showed that 25% of athletes were in the "Very Good" category, 35% in the "Good" category, and 40% in the "Moderate" category. There were no athletes in the "Poor" or "Very Poor" categories. The average overall score was 71%, indicating that the athletes' catching technique skills were at a fairly good level, but there was still room for improvement, especially in the aspect of catching the upper ball which showed the lowest results. These findings provide recommendations for coaches to design more focused and specific training programs to improve the athletes' catching abilities.

The sample size was 52 people, 30 of whom were male and 22 female. Based on the results of the study that has been conducted regarding the relationship between life skills and the achievements of Jambi Porprov athletes in 2023, it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between life skills and the achievements of athletes, athletics in Jambi Porprov in 2023. Although most athletes have good life skills in aspects such as time management, interpersonal communication, and leadership, this does not directly correlate with the achievement of sports achievements. Thus, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is rejected and the null hypothesis (H0) is accepted. However, of all the subdimensions, only emotional skills have a significance value of 0.044 (<0.05), which means that there is a significant but negative relationship between the ability to manage emotions and achievement. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between life skills and the achievements of athletes, athletics in Jambi Porprov in 2023.
