Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of family literacy in improving early childhood reading skills in Panaikang Village, Makassar City. This research method uses a qualitative approach with a case study in Panaikang Village, which involves in-depth interviews with parents and local community leaders. Data were also obtained through observations of literacy activities carried out at home and analysis of the socio-economic conditions of families. The study results indicate that although there is great potential for families to play an active role in improving children's reading skills, various factors such as limited time, resources, and parental knowledge hinder these efforts. This study suggests the importance of empowering parents and families through literacy training programs, providing easily accessible reading materials, and increasing awareness of the importance of early childhood literacy. The results of this study can contribute to designing more effective education policies and family empowerment programs in Panaikang Village, as well as other areas with similar challenges.

Abstract

Child-Friendly Schools (CFS) is an educational model designed to create an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment that fosters children's holistic development. This study aims to analyze the implementation, challenges, and impacts of the CFS model in various countries using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Specifically, this research identifies the factors that contribute to the successful implementation of child-friendly schools and the obstacles encountered in different cultural and social contexts. The method used in this study is Systematic Literature Review (SLR), by reviewing and analyzing scientific articles published in nationally and internationally indexed journals over the last ten years. The articles analyzed were selected based on their relevance to the CFS concept, the quality of the publication, and the research methods used. The data from the selected articles were then synthesized to obtain key findings related to the implementation and challenges of CFS. The analysis results indicate that while CFS adheres to global principles such as inclusivity, safety, and participation, its implementation requires local adaptations according to the cultural and social context of each region. The main challenges identified include resource constraints, lack of continuous teacher training, and resistance to pedagogical change. Additionally, the involvement of stakeholders such as teachers, parents, and local communities has been found to be a crucial factor in the successful implementation of CFS. The study also finds that the application of CFS principles has a positive impact on students' learning motivation, social interactions, and academic achievements. Based on these findings, this study recommends strengthening child-rights-based policies, continuous teacher training, and cross-sectoral support to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of CFS programs.

Abstract

Islam and science have had a long history and a relationship that often supports and influences each other. This research aims to study global trends in publications related to Islam and science from 2013 to 2024, which can be considered in implementing learning. Islamic and scientific research uses Biblioshiny and Vosviewer analysis to understand global trends thoroughly. Documents were taken from Scopus data with a total of 2685 which were then filtered into 323 documents using the prism method. The results of Biblioshiny's analysis show the distribution of articles per year, journal sources that publish a lot, affiliations and countries that write a lot. The results of the Vosviewer analysis in the overlay visualization show that topics related to systematic reviews, meta-analysis, and integration are the current topics carried out by researchers. Meanwhile,   the topics of Islam, science, religion, and roles are often researched, while topics related to systematic reviews, meta-analysis, and integration, apart from being current topics, are also research topics that people rarely do, so they have the potential to continue to be developedThe topic of integration, which has not been widely discussed, can inspire teachers and lecturers to combine Islam and science in their classroom lessons. This approach can help students recognize that Islam sees science as a way to understand the signs of God's greatness in the universe.

Abstract

Sincere behavior in children is a fundamental aspect of character development that will influence their attitudes and actions in the future. Therefore, early stimulation is crucial in instilling the value of sincerity. This descriptive quantitative study aims to foster sincere behavior through modern play methods based on illustrated paper media in children aged 5-6 years at Buah Hati Kindergarten, involving 17 children. The research instruments include illustrated paper media and observation sheets to assess the achievement of sincere behavior in children. Data analysis was carried out descriptively to broadcast the results of the treatment. The results showed that the average score of children's sincere behavior was 3.1, which means it is in the good category. This means using modern games based on illustrated paper media can encourage children to show a sincere attitude in the good category in interacting and doing activities. These findings indicate that a visual media-based play approach can be a recommended strategy in instilling sincere values, thus contributing to the formation of positive character in early childhood.

Abstract

Mathematics as a universal science has long been a part of human life, including in aspects of culture and architecture, as found in the architecture and artifacts of the Balla Lompoa traditional house in South Sulawesi. This study aims to reveal the concept of mathematics, especially in the material of flat geometry, as well as the cultural values contained in the architecture and artifacts of the Balla Lompoa traditional house in South Sulawesi. This type of research is qualitative research with an ethnomathematics approach. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. This study applies technical triangulation. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the Balla Lompoa traditional house in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, has various flat geometry concepts that are integrated into its architecture and artifacts. Elements such as squares, rectangles, equilateral triangles, isosceles triangles, circles, trapezoids, and rhombuses are found in various elements of traditional buildings and artifacts. In addition to the mathematical aspect, this house also has strong philosophical and cultural values, reflecting the social structure and beliefs of the Gowa people. The implications of this study are that it not only enriches ethnomathematics literature but also contributes to a culture-based mathematics learning approach, which can improve students' understanding and interest in geometry material through local cultural contextualization.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the description of students' mathematical anxiety and problem-solving abilities at SMAN 5 Takalar and the effect of mathematical anxiety on students' problem-solving abilities at SMAN 5 Takalar in terms of gender. This study uses an ex post facto research type with a quantitative approach. This study was conducted at SMAN 5 Takalar with a population of 310 class X students, with 9 classes. The sample in this study was class X3, with 34 students selected using a simple random sampling technique. The instruments used in this study were a mathematical anxiety questionnaire to determine students' mathematical anxiety and a test to determine students' problem-solving abilities. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis in the form of a simple linear regression test. The results of this study indicate: (1) Female students' mathematical anxiety is higher than male students and female students' problem-solving abilities are better than male students, (2) Mathematical anxiety has a significant effect on students' overall problem-solving abilities, both male and female. Therefore, we must pay more attention to the psychology of students, one of which is students' mathematics anxiety as a factor that influences their mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) on the academic achievement of students at four Islamic State Institutions in South Sulawesi: Alauddin Makassar Islamic State University, Pare-pare Islamic State Institute, Palopo Islamic State Institute, and Watampone Islamic State Institute. Employing an ex post facto quantitative research design, a stratified random sample of 382 students was selected for the study. Data on learning styles were collected using a validated scale based on DePorter & Hernacky's theory. Data analysis used non-parametric statistics of the Kruskal-Wallis type. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses examined the relationship between learning style and academic achievement. Results indicated that while visual learning styles with a sig value of 0.685 and kinesthetic learning styles with a sig value of 0.544 were not significantly correlated with academic performance (p > 0.05), auditory learning style was found to be a significant predictor of student success with a sig value of 0.047 (p < 0.05). Based on these findings, it is recommended that lecture-based methods, which cater to auditory learners, be prioritized in instructional strategies to enhance academic outcomes for students at these institutions.

Abstract

Teachers are an important part of learning activities and play an important role in forming students' noble character by providing direct attention to encourage and motivate students to get used to having noble character. This study aims to determine and analyze the influence of teacher attention to Akidah Akhlak on the formation of students' noble character at MTs Muhammadiyah Limbung. This study uses a quantitative method with an ex post facto approach. Samples were taken from as many as 46 students from a total population of 227 people, with a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires, observations, and documentation. The study showed that teacher attention influenced students' noble character formation. This finding shows the importance of teachers in shaping students' character through consistent and meaningful attention. The implications of this study are the need for training and strengthening the role of teachers in aspects of moral development, integration of noble character values ​​in learning activities, and development of madrasah policies that support the formation of students' character holistically.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of self-assessment implementation in improving mathematical reflective thinking skills using Collaborative Problem Solving learning. This study is a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all students of grade VIII of SMP 4 Sungguminasa. This study involved class VIII-J as the Collaborative Problem Solving group and class VIII-K as the conventional learning group. The instrument used was a reflective thinking ability question in the form of a description. The results of the analysis of the pretest score data found that before being given treatment, both groups had the same initial ability, and the results of the analysis of the posttest score data found that the reflective thinking ability and self-assessment of students who received Collaborative Problem Solving learning were better than students who received conventional learning. The results of this study indicate that Collaborative Problem Solving provides opportunities for students to build their thinking skills. In addition, with self-assessment, students can correct themselves during the learning process. This impacts students' awareness to be better at the next meeting during the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the learning outcomes of fifth-grade Jurisprudence students who are taught with and without using Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK)-based teaching materials, as well as to examine the effect of using TPACK-based teaching materials on improving student learning outcomes. The population in this study were all fifth-grade students of MI Al-Abrar Makassar City which amounted to 79 people, consisting of 37 students in class V A and 42 students in class V B. This research method uses a quantitative approach with data collection techniques through tests. Data analysis used descriptive statistical data analysis and inferential statistical data analysis. The results of the analysis showed that students taught using TPACK-based teaching materials experienced a more significant increase in learning outcomes compared to students taught without TPACK-based teaching materials. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of TPACK-based teaching materials has a positive effect on the learning outcomes of Jurisprudence subjects of grade V students.
