The purpose was to identify handwashing behaviour, nail hygiene and incidence of Helminthiasis in Elementary School students. Methods: This is quantitative research with a cross-sectional study to link hand washing and nail hygiene with worms in students with 106 respondents. Examination of faecal preparations was carried out at the Thamrin Laboratory. Result: The results obtained were 14 people (13,2%) with hand washing behaviour in the poor category, 14 people (13,2%) with nail hygiene in the poor category, and 14 people (13,2%) have worm infection. Based on bivariate analysis, p-value=0.000 (5%), Conclusion: There is a relationship between hand washing behaviour and nail hygiene with the incidence of worms in students of Elementary School.

Abstract

Background: Several big cities in Indonesia stated that almost 50% of teenagers had premarital sex. And what is most astonishing is the widespread circulation of sex videos of teenagers wearing school uniforms on the internet. This phenomenon is motivated by the nature of adolescents who tend to want to try all things that are new and challenging. The high presentation of risky behaviour by adolescents needs to be a serious concern for all groups, considering that the transmission of HIV AIDS occurs mainly through sexual intercourse. This study was to see the effect of peer group education on HIV/AIDS on the knowledge and sexual behaviour of adolescents at SMAN 10 Kendari. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test with a control group approach with 60 respondents. Results: There was a significant difference between the mean knowledge scores of the control and intervention groups before and after the intervention with p-value = 0.006, and adolescent sexual behaviour also showed effective results with p-value = 0.046. Conclusion: The peer education method affects knowledge and sexual behaviour, so this method can be used to educate adolescents so that the flow of information delivery is better.

Abstract

Background: Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is the most common health problem reported by women of reproductive age. The incidence of PMS is caused by several factors, such as stress factors, diet, sleep patterns, physical activity, and body mass index (BMI). This study aims to analyze the pattern of variable relationships that directly affect or indirectly affect a set of independent variables (exogenous) to the dependent variable (endogenous). Methods: This study was a quantitative survey of high school girls in Palangka Raya City. The sampling technique used is clustered random sampling followed by stratified random sampling. Results: Some variables had a significant direct effect on the incidence of PMS, including BMI, stress, diet, and physical activity. In addition, some variables indirectly affect the incidence of PMS through BMI variables, namely stress and physical activity. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between both direct and indirect effects of exogenous variables on endogenous variables. It is hoped that the results of this study can reduce the incidence of PMS in adolescents both in the education and health sectors.

Abstract

Background: Menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea is characterized by pain in the uterus or lower abdomen during menstruation. Acupuncture, as a complementary and alternative medicine method, has been widely used to treat various health problems related to gynecological problems. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of acupuncture therapy in reducing menstrual pain scale. Method: This study used One group pre-post-test research design. The research sample was 20 nursing students at ITEKES Bali level II. The data were collected using an observation sheet with a Comparative Pain Scale containing a pain scale of 0-10. Results: In the pretest, there were two responses (10%) with menstrual pain on a scale of 7, 3 respondents (13%) on a scale of 5, and 1 respondent (5%) on a scale of 6 and 2 respondents (10%) with a pain scale of 2. After the intervention in the form of acupuncture, the results obtained were seven respondents (35%) with a pain scale of 0, 10 respondents (50%) with a pain scale of 1, and 2 respondents (10%) with a pain scale of 3. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed an Md value = 3.50 in the pre-intervention decreased significantly to Md=1.00 at the post-intervention with p value 0.012 with r= 0.60 and Z= 3.975. Conclusion: This study shows that acupuncture effectively reduces the pain scale in female students who experience menstrual pain.

Abstract

Introduction: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infection caused by the Dengue virus which is transmitted through the bites of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. Based on laboratory criteria, low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) and plasma leakage are important indicators for DHF. The purpose of this study was to analyze Hb levels, Ht levels, and platelet counts and their relationship in DHF patients so that when these values are at the threshold, health workers can anticipate and provide ideal care. Methods: This article is a descriptive retrospective study by taking secondary data at RSUD S.K. Lerik City of Kupang in 2020 with a total sample population of 135 DHF pediatric patients (0-11 years). Results: The results of this study, Hb values were below normal at 10.8 ± 1.4 g/dL in 52 (39%) patients, Ht values were above normal at 42.5 ± 2.3% in 81 (60%) patients, and platelet values were not normal or low 110,000 ± 12,500 per microliter of blood in 130 (97%). Researchers also wanted to show the relationship between Hb, Ht, and Platelets in the analysis with the Pearson Correlation Test (α = 0.05). Conclusion: The conclusion of this article is that there is no correlation between Hb and Ht and platelets, while Ht and platelets have a significantly low correlation (r=-0.32), which means that there is a relationship between high hematocrit and low platelet values in pediatric DHF patients so that patients DHF in children needs to be examined both.
