Abstract

Effectiveness of Self-Management Techniques to Improve Learning Independence of Ibnu Katsir 1 Jember Students. This study aims to test the effectiveness of self-management techniques in improving student learning independence at Ibnu Katsir 1 Islamic Boarding School in Jember. The background of this study is based on the low level of learning independence identified through initial observations, such as high dependence on teacher direction, lack of initiative in completing assignments, and lack of discipline in managing study time. This study used a quantitative quasi-experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were 10 students selected based on their low learning independence scores. The data collection technique used a learning independence scale with a validity of ≥ 0.361 and a Cronbach's Alpha reliability of 0.874. Data analysis was carried out using a paired sample t-test with the help of SPSS 26. The results showed an increase in the average learning independence score from a pretest value of 57.3 to 75.6 in the posttest, with a significance value (p) of 0.000 < 0.05. This demonstrates the effectiveness of self-management techniques in enhancing student learning independence. These findings support Bandura's theory of self-reinforcement and social learning and extend its application to the context of Islamic boarding schools. The practical implication of these results is the importance of self-management-based guidance programs in supporting learning independence in Islamic educational environments. Suggestions for future research include expanding the sample size and extending the duration of the intervention to achieve more general and in-depth results. Keywords: Self-management, Learning Independence, Islamic Boarding School.

Abstract

Psychological Resilience Based on ABC Theory in Overcoming Academic Anxiety in Ibnu Katsir 2 Female Students of Jember. This study aimed to test the effectiveness of an intervention program based on the ABC (Activating Event, Belief, Consequence) theory, developed using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model, in reducing academic anxiety and increasing psychological resilience in female students. The method used was a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design in one group. The study sample consisted of female students who demonstrated high levels of academic anxiety based on initial assessment results. The intervention was implemented through several structured group counseling sessions designed to change irrational beliefs and strengthen adaptive skills. Data analysis using a paired t-test revealed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores for both academic anxiety and psychological resilience (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the ABC theory-based intervention is effective in addressing common psychological problems faced by students. The implication of this study is the importance of integrating a cognitive-behavioral approach into guidance and counseling services in religious higher education settings. It is recommended that campuses and Islamic boarding schools provide ongoing support for the implementation of similar programs to create a mentally and emotionally healthier learning environment for students. Keywords: ABC Theory, Academic Anxiety, Psychological Resilience, Female

Abstract

Understanding Student Needs through Student Needs Analysis: Case Study at SMA Negeri 1 Wanadadi. Needs Analysis of Students (NAS) is an approach used in guidance and counseling to identify the specific needs of students in various aspects of development. This study aims to understand the needs of students at SMA N 1 Wanadadi to design more effective guidance and counseling interventions. This research employs a quantitative descriptive method with a survey approach. Data were collected through an NAS questionnaire adapted from the counseling questionnaire model, involving twelfth-grade students as respondents selected using purposive sampling. The questionnaire consists of four main domains: personal, social, academic, and career. The research findings indicate that the personal domain is the most dominant aspect, with a need percentage of 41.03%, particularly in developing self-confidence and managing emotions. The academic domain ranks second (32.70%), with a primary focus on time management techniques and effective learning strategies. Meanwhile, the social domain (11.77%) highlights students' needs in building healthy interpersonal relationships, while the career domain (14.03%) emphasizes the importance of guidance in planning a future aligned with students' potential and interests. The contribution of this study underscores the importance of strengthening guidance and counseling services in schools, focusing more on self-confidence development, emotional management, and effective learning strategies. Keywords: Needs Analysis Of Students, Educational Problems, Guidance, Personal Development.

The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of the non-equivalent control group pretest–posttest type . The sample consisted of 18 students selected through purposive sampling , 9 students each in the experimental and control groups. Data were obtained through questionnaires and observations, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent sample t-test . The results showed that before the treatment, students were in the medium and low categories, characterized by behaviors such as mocking, indifference, and lack of respect for teachers and friends. The t-test showed a significance of 0.001 (<0.05), so that sociodrama based on tabe culture had a significant effect in improving students' respectful attitudes, polite language, and social behavior. Keywords: Character of good manners; Sociodrama Technique; Tabe Culture ; Group Guidance.

Abstract

Integration of Differentiated Learning and Counseling: Development of an ADDIE-Based Module to Reduce Student Boredom. This study aims to develop a module based on a differentiation and counseling approach as an effort to reduce learning boredom among students at the Ibnu Katsir 1 Islamic Boarding School in Jember. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. The limitations of this study focused on the development and limited trials involving four students at the research site. The assessment results showed that the module was very feasible to use with a validation score of 83% from material experts, 82% from language experts, and 81% from practitioners' assessments. The results of the field trial showed a significant decrease in the level of learning boredom among the research subjects. The implications of this study provide practical contributions for Islamic boarding school managers in implementing more personalized and adaptive learning strategies. The use of this module allows educators to address psychological barriers among students in a structured manner through the integration of counseling techniques into the curriculum. Thus, this module can be a reference for mental health and academic intervention models in boarding-based educational environments. Keywords: Differentiated Approach; Counseling; Learning Saturation

Abstract

Effectiveness of Group Guidance with Self-Management Techniques to Improve the Learning Achievement of 8th Grade Students of PPA Ibnu Katsir 2 Putri Jember. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of self-management techniques in improving student achievement in Islamic boarding schools. The problem of suboptimal learning achievement requires personal development-based interventions. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a control and treatment group design, as well as pretest and posttest techniques. The study sample consisted of 40 students selected purposively. The instruments used included a self-management scale and a learning achievement test. Data analysis was conducted using t-tests and gain scores to determine differences and improvements in learning achievement. The results showed that students who received self-management training experienced significant improvements in learning achievement compared to the control group. This finding suggests that the ability to manage time, emotions, and learning motivation positively contributes to academic achievement. The practical implication of these results is the importance of integrating self-management techniques into group guidance services and Islamic boarding school curriculum development. The researchers recommend that educators and counselors strengthen self-management-based learning strategies to foster student academic independence. Keywords: Group Guidance, Self-Management; Learning Achievement

Abstract

The Effectiveness of Group Counseling Services Using Self-Management Techniques on Students’ Learning Time Management. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group guidance services with self-management techniques on student study time management at Sanggar Bimbingan Kepong Malaysia. The population of this study was 6 sixth-grade students, and the sample was taken purposively. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The pre-test results showed that out of 6 students, 3 students were in the low category and 3 students were in the medium category, while the post-test results showed that all students were in the very high category. The treatment was given in one meeting. Hypothesis testing using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with the help of SPSS produced an Asymp. Sig = 0.028 <0.05, so H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, indicating a significant change in student study time management after the treatment. This study contributes to the development of guidance and counseling (BK) science by strengthening evidence that self-management techniques in group guidance can improve students' time management skills, which is one of the important competencies in students' character and academic development. The results of this study provide implications for BK teachers, namely that the use of group guidance services with self-management techniques can be an effective strategy in fostering and improving students' study time management at school. Keywords: Group Guidance, Self Management, Study Time Management, Guidance and Counseling.
