Aksara merupakan jurnal yang diterbitkan oleh Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Batanghari dan Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat Universitas Batanghari. Jurnal ini merupakan jurnal penelitian yang mempublikasikan artikel hasil penelitian asli, studi kepustakaan, dan tulisan terkait dengan fokus pada kajian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, kajian bahasa dan kajian sastra. Semua artikel ditinjau oleh 4 orang reviewer, 2 orang reviewer internal dan 2 orang reviewer eksternal. Jurnal ini diterbitkan dua kali dalam satu tahun setiap bulan April dan bulan September, jurnal aksara ini dapat diakses pembaca, jurnal aksara ini berisi hasil penelitian pustaka maupun hasil penelitian lapangan. Jurnal ini meliputi beberapa ranah Ilmu sebagai berikut: 1. Kajian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia meliputi bidang pembelajaran keterampilan berbahasa, pembelajaran linguistik, pembelajaran semantik, pembelajaran pragmatik, pembelajaran wacana, pembelajaran sosiolinguistik, pembelajaran psikolinguistik serta pembelajaran puisi, pembelajaran prosa, pembelajaran fiksi, pembelajaran drama. 2. Kajian Bahasa Indonesia meliputi: fonologi, morfologi, sintaksis, analisis wacana, semantik, pragmatik, sosiolinguistik, psikolinguistik, bahasa dan budaya, dialektologi, dokumentasi bahasa, serta bidang keilmuan lain yang berkaitan dengan kajian kebahasaan. 3. Kajian Sastra Indonesia meliputi: sastra lisan dan sastra modern berupa kajian puisi, prosa fiksi dan drama.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the mixed codes and causes of code mixes found on Jang Hansol's Korean Roemit Youtube channel. The research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection is carried out using the free listening technique and the note-taking technique. The results showed that 25 data mixed codes were found, 9 data mixed codes outwards, and 1 mixed codemixed data, the factors causing speakers to mix codes were speakers and speech partners communicating in informal (relaxed) situations, the absence of the right language for the language being used, and the relationship of a language to the topic being talked about. As a suggestion, further research can be developed again in the types and factors causing the occurrence of mixed codes so that more in-depth research needs to be carried out.

Abstract

Learning text narratives are part of the curriculum for 10th-grade high school students. Most students show a lack of interest in this subject, primarily due to their difficulty in understanding the language used. The language in narrative texts is Malay, which contains many archaic words or terms that are no longer commonly used. Therefore, there is a need for a teaching method that makes it easier for students to comprehend narrative texts. In this research, a contextual learning model that relates the material to the students' daily lives was used to facilitate students' understanding of narrative texts. This teaching method employed a mixed-methods approach. Data sources were obtained from students who undertook the learning of analyzing the values contained in narrative texts through the contextual learning model. The data in this study were observations of the values achieved by the students. Based on the research, it was found that the use of a contextual learning model can facilitate students in analyzing the values contained in narrative texts. Furthermore, students are also able to relate the learning content to their daily experiences in their surrounding environment.

Abstract

Problem in this research is on a metaphor in a novel Tenun Biru work Ugi Agustono: a stylistic study. Problem of this research are focused on investigating the form, function and meaning of metaphors found in a novel Tenun Biru. There are two benefits of this research namely theoretical and practical benefits and this research use a qualitative method as well as descriptive method. This research using the theory of stylistic pertaining to style of language (figure) to get better results in analyzing form, function and meaning metaphor, as of theory of stylistic considered relevant to inspect figure of a metaphor in a novel. Thus this research get the result of a metaphor comprising a antropormorfic metaphor, sinestic metaphor, abstract into concrete metaphor, dead metaphor, and the life metaphor.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate the existence of deixis in the translated version of The Great Gatsby and explain the deixis contained in this novel. This research is included in the qualitative descriptive research category. The research methodology used in this study is a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques used in this research are reading and note-taking techniques. Then the data in this research was analyzed based on deixis theory by Levinson (1983). The data for this research was obtained directly from the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, which was translated by Maria Masniari Lubis. The results of this research reveal that the novel The Great Gatsby uses various forms of deixis, namely (1) personal deixis, which includes first person singular and plural personal deixis, second person singular and plural personal deixis, and third person singular and plural personal deixis, (2) time deixis, (3) place deixis, (4) discourse deixis, and (5) social deixis. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is that the novel The Great Gatsby is dominated by the use of persona deixis.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of cohesion and coherence in editorials in the June to August 2023 edition of Tribun Jambi online media. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative with a content analysis approach. Data in the form of cohesion and coherence forms and data sources for editorials in the June to August 2023 edition of Tribunjambi.com. Data collection techniques using document techniques, and listening which are then classified in the form of codes and data tables. The data validity test is source triangulation by using various relevant sources to check and compare. Data analysis techniques include: 1) data identification, 2) data classification, 3) data analysis, 4) data presentation, and 5) conclusion drawing. The results showed that the editorial plans in the online media Tribun Jambi used grammatical cohesion, lexical cohesion, and coherence with the amount of data found, namely 388 data. In the aspect of grammatical cohesion, 175 references, 2 substitutions, and 64 conjunctions were found. Furthermore, in lexical cohesion, 4 synonyms, 2 antonyms, 5 hyponyms, 71 repetitions, 7 collocations, and 3 equivalences were found. While the forms of coherence are 16 cause-effect relationships, 4 means-result relationships, 24 means-purpose relationships, 3 paraphrastic relationships, 7 identification relationships, and 1 generic-specific relationship.

Abstract

This research sought to validate an e-module designed to facilitate scientific article writing, grounded in the Genre-Based Approach (GBA). A quantitative survey method was employed, utilizing a Likert-scale questionnaire to gather both quantitative and qualitative data. Four experts in their respective fields were involved in the validation process, assessing the e-module's content, presentation, language, and graphic feasibility. The results of the expert validation indicated that the e-module meets the criteria for a high-quality educational tool, aligning with the needs of students and the objectives of learning scientific article writing. Specifically, the content component received an overall average score of 4.46, classified as "very valid." The remaining components—presentation, language, and graphics—each achieved an overall average score of 4.5, also categorized as "very valid." These results suggest that the developed GBA-based e-module for scientific article writing is highly valid and suitable for implementation in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Batanghari Jambi.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the function of expressive speech acts in the speaker's speech on the Jejak Islam program on TVRI Jambi in April-August 2023. The analysis of this research will answer the research questions and the aim of this research, namely, to describe the function of expressive speech acts which include the function of praising, the function of complaining, the function of saying thank you, and the function of criticizing. This research will illustrate how speakers express the function of speech according to the context as a pragmatic study. The research method used to collect and analyze research data, researchers used qualitative descriptive methods. By using this research method researchers can describe the use of expressive speech acts from the four functions studied. With this method, researchers can describe the results of research on how speakers express themselves in praising, complaining, saying thank you, and criticizing in a speech. The results of this research can be explained that speakers on the jejak Islam program on TVRI Jambi in April-August 2023 were more likely to say that speech acts functioned to praise the activity. This can be seen from the dominant quotations that the researchers found for expressive speech with the function of praising, namely 43 quotations. For quotes that serve to criticize, the researchers only found 7 quotes. For expressive speech that functions to say thank you, researchers found 16 quotes. There were 12 quotations for the function of complaining. Thus, overall the researcher found 78 quotations for the four functions of expressive speech acts in this event program

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the function of hyperbolic language style in the novel Negeri 5 Menara by Ahmad Fuadi. The analysis of this research will answer the research questions and research objectives, namely, to describe the function of hyperbole, which includes the function of giving a dramatic impression, composing sentences beautifully, and emphasizing emotions. This research will illustrate how the function of hyperbolic language style functions as a strength in literary works, especially in novels. The research method used to collect and analyze research data, researchers used qualitative descriptive methods. With this research method, researchers can describe the function of hyperbole language style from the three functions studied. With this research method, researchers can describe the results of research on how the function of hyperbolic language style is to give a dramatic impression, compose sentences beautifully, and emphasize emotions in the novel. The results of the research can be explained that the function of hyperbolic language style in the novel Negeri 5 Menara by Ahmad Fuadi tends to be the function of hyperbolic language style in giving a dramatic impression to the novel. This can be seen in the quotes found in the function of providing a dramatic impression of 50 quotes. Apart from that, there are 28 quotes to compose sentences beautifully. And the function provides emotional emphasis for 22 quotes. In other words, the total number of hyperbolic stylistic functions found in this novel is 100 quotations.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) describe the analysis of the Andung Sian Sirambe poetry collection by Cisilia Siagian (2) describe the relevance of the meaning of the Andung Sian Sirambe poetry collection by Cisilia Siagian. The data in this research are Toba Batak poetry in an anthology book entitled Andung Sian Sirambe Poetry Collection by Cisilia Siagian, taking 10 works. The instrument in this research is a human instrument, namely researchers who play an important role in the research. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The results of the research obtained in the poem Andung Sian Sirambe by Cisilia Siagian with 10 poems are the change of metaphor meaning in 4 poetry quotes, allegory 1 poetry quote, simile 11 poetry quotes, personification 8 poetry quotes, metonymy 4 poetry quotes, epic parable 2 poetry quotes . Furthermore, there are deviations in meaning, ambiguity consisting of 2 poetry quotes, nonsense, found in 8 poems, contradiction in 2 poetry quotes. Andung Sian Sirambe's poetry collection has the relevant meaning of each poem, such as respect for parents, suffering and difficulties in life, unfair fate, cultural preservation, sacrifice, and life's journey. It is important for readers of the Batak Language Poetry Collection to pay attention to the meaning of the poetry and the language style contained in the poetry in order to be able to understand the picture or essence of the story of the poetry.

Abstract

This research discusses the use of illocutionary speech acts in the film Family Cirrus 2 by Muhammad Irfan Ramli. The aim of this research is to describe illocutionary speech acts in the film Fir Family 2. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data in this research are in the form of words or sentences contained in illocutionary speech acts in the film Fir Family 2. The data collection techniques used to obtain data are documentation techniques and note-taking techniques. The validity of the data used to test the data obtained is observer diligence and source triagulasion. The data analysis technique used is content analysis technique by reading, analyzing, describing and concluding the content of the film Keluarga Cemara 2. The results of this research are that there are illocutionary speech acts in the form of 1) Assertive Speech Acts, 2) Directive Speech Acts, 3) Commissive Speech Acts, 4) Expressive Speech Acts, 5) Declarative Speech Acts
