Abstract

The open smash is one of the most lethal attacking techniques in volleyball, executed with full force, sending the ball high and far into the air. Accuracy and good ball placement make it difficult for the opponent to return and give the team an advantage in organizing subsequent attacks. The purpose of this study was to determine the contribution of each of these physical components. The target group was 15 female volleyball extracurricular students at SMAN 1 Pademawu. While the data collection process is carried out by conducting tests on arm muscle strength (push-ups), abdominal muscles (sit-ups), wrist flexibility (goniometer), hand-eye coordination (grade mirror drawing), and leg muscle power (Jump Md) and open smash accuracy. Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) program on VO2max capacity and heart rate recovery. Thirteen student athletes participated in the study: male, biological age 15-17 years, training age >5 years, and completed multilateral training. An experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design was used for four weeks. Data were collected before and after each training session using the Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test Level 1 (YYIR1) procedure and heart rate recovery monitoring with a Polar-H10 heart rate monitor in a HIIT protocol with a work:rest ratio (1:1). Data from all subjects were processed using SPSS software, and then hypothesis testing was conducted using a pre-test. The results showed a significant increase (p<0.05) in VO2max capacity (2.8±1.4 ml/kg-1.min-1) and heart rate recovery (9.9±9.2). With the increase in VO2max accompanied by heart rate recovery, it can be concluded that the HIIT program has been proven effective in improving aerobic capacity and accelerating the recovery process, thus supporting more optimal athlete performance.

Abstract

The effectiveness and quality of swimmers' physical performance ultimately depend on the determination of training zones, energy requirements, and the distance to be targeted as chosen by the swimmers. Physiological adaptations such as aerobic and anaerobic performance are key factors in improving the performance of swimming athletes. The purpose of this study was to determine how high-intensity interval training affects the speed of the 50-metre freestyle swim. This study was designed as a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design. Both the population and sample were selected using purposive sampling from 16 swimmers at the Sailfish Swimming Club. The t-test formula was used for data analysis. According to the pre- and post-test results, the results were significant at the 0.000 < 0.05 level, with an average pre-test time of 46.36 seconds and an average post-test time of 42.20 seconds.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the level of interest of 3rd and 4th grade students at Muhammadiyah 4 Elementary School Surabaya in participating in swimming extracurricular activities, analyze differences in interest based on gender, and examine the role of parental support, peers, facilities, and coaches in shaping student interest. The type of research used is non-experimental research with a quantitative descriptive method. The sampling technique used was total sampling, while data analysis used SPSS software with quantitative descriptive methods, Likert scale, t-test, linear regression, ANOVA, and post-hoc test. The study's results indicate a very high (60%) level of student interest. This interest was significantly influenced (p < 0.05) by parental support, peers, availability of facilities, and the role of coaches, with the coach factor being the most dominant. Additionally, the study revealed a difference in interest between male and female students, with female students demonstrating a higher level of interest than male students. Thus, it can be concluded that effective swimming extracurricular coaching cannot rely solely on students' intrinsic interest but is also influenced by extrinsic support that can create a positive, inclusive, and enjoyable learning environment for all students.

Abstract

This study examined the effect of a target-game training model on passing accuracy among extracurricular sepak takraw participants at SMA Negeri 1 Parungkuda. An experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was employed (n = 8). Passing skill was assessed with a standardized test, and data were analyzed using paired-samples t-tests after assumption checks. Results revealed a significant improvement in passing accuracy following the intervention: mean scores increased from 26.75 to 32.62 (a gain of 5.88 points ≈ 22.0%), t(7) = 7.668; p < .001; with a large effect size (d = 2.71). These findings indicate that a well-designed, representative target-game approach is effective for enhancing passing precision in a secondary-school context.

Abstract

The body's ability to perform physical activities optimally is known as physical fitness. The Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI) was used in this study to determine if students enrolled in physical education had improved their physical fitness. This research uses a survey method with a descriptive quantitative approach. The research subjects consisted of regular Physical Education students. The results of the survey that has been conducted show a significant improvement in student performance. Nevertheless, the level of physical fitness among Physical Education students is still dominated by the moderate category. Out of a total sample of 8 students, or 47.05%, were categorized as good, while 9 students, or 52.95%, were in the average category. This finding indicates that despite progress, most students still need to improve their physical fitness to achieve a better category. It can be concluded that the physical fitness results for the 2024 batch are categorized as moderate.

Abstract

Activity carried out after sleeping is called sedentary behavior. Therefore, to engage in sports activities, we must have the intention or desire for these sports activities to be carried out. This non-experimental quantitative research does not control or manipulate the variables. The study was conducted on elementary school students in Lalabata District. The population in this study was all sixth-grade students in 4 schools in Lalabata District, and sampling used purposive sampling with a sample of 108 students. After data collection, the data were analyzed using Spearman's rank correlation. The results of the 2-tailed sig. have a sig. 2-tailed value > 0.05, which is 0.08. Therefore, from these calculations, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between a sedentary lifestyle and sports interest in sixth-grade elementary school students in Lalabata District. Thus, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between a sedentary lifestyle and sports interest in sixth-grade elementary school students in Lalabata District. Researchers can use the findings of this study to identify the relationship between sedentary lifestyle and other variables that may influence and relate to each other.
