Abstract

Volleyball teaching, particularly the underhand passing technique, still faces challenges due to low student engagement in conventional instruction. This study was conducted to determine the effect of implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on improving learning outcomes in the underhand passing technique in volleyball. A quantitative approach was used, employing a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects consisted of eighth-grade students divided into two groups: the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group received instruction using the PBL model, while the control group received conventional instruction. Descriptive statistics, tests to identify differences, and learning outcome assessments were used in the data analysis process. The results showed that the average score of the PBL group increased from 7.30 to 16.27, while that of the conventional group increased from 7.37 to 8.73. Statistical tests revealed a significant difference (p-value 0.000 < 0.05), with the PBL group’s N-Gain value at 76.836% (high) and the conventional group’s at 12.000% (low). Based on these findings, the PBL learning model can be considered a more effective method for improving learning outcomes in underhand passing in volleyball compared to conventional learning.

Abstract

Self-control is a fundamental psychological aspect relevant to the context of martial arts. Research on the factors that simultaneously influence it in pencak silat remains limited. This study aims to examine differences in self-control based on belt level, gender, and training duration among practitioners of pencak silat from the Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate (PSHT). A quantitative approach with a comparative design and cross-sectional method was used in this study. The sample consisted of 62 active members of PSHT Sukasari in Bandung City, selected through purposive sampling. Self-control was measured using the 10-item Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS), which covers the dimensions of inhibition and initiation. Data analysis was performed using one-way ANOVA and the independent samples t-test with the aid of SPSS 26.0. The results of the study showed significant differences based on belt level in the inhibition dimension (F = 2.790; p = .048; η² = 0.126), with the mori belt group achieving the highest mean score. Training duration showed significant differences in the inhibition dimension (F = 5.656; p = .002) and the initiation dimension (F = 3.179; p = .031), with a trend toward increased self-control as training duration increased. Gender did not show significant differences in either dimension (p > .05). It was concluded that the duration of training plays a more significant role in shaping the self-control of pencak silat practitioners than gender.

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of examining the extent to which the implementation of traditional games can foster students' interest in learning Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) at SDI Al Mutmainnah Bringin Dasuk Sumenep. The approach chosen was a quasi-experimental design. One Group Pretest-Posttest, namely a research model that compares the condition of a sample group before and after receiving intervention, through initial measurements (pretest) and final measurements (posttest). For analysis purposes, the data were processed using a paired mean difference test (paired sample t-test) to see whether there is a significant difference between the scores before and after the treatment is given. The statistical calculation results show a calculated t value of 4.29. This figure is then compared with the t table value at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05) with 14 degrees of freedom (obtained from N – 1 = 15 – 1 = 14). Based on the two-way hypothesis test, the obtained t table value is 2.064. Because the calculated t (4.29) exceeds the t table (2.064), the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H₀) is rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence.

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the impact of target practice and circuit training on enhancing the shooting skills of male extracurricular futsal players at SMK Negeri 9 Surakarta. Utilizing an experimental approach, the research adopted a two-group pretest-posttest design. A sample of 24 extracurricular participants was selected and distributed into two distinct intervention categories: the target practice group and the circuit training group. To measure the players' shooting proficiency, the TKDO Futsal shooting test was employed as the primary research instrument. Furthermore, the collected data were statistically analyzed through normality tests, homogeneity tests, paired sample t-tests, and independent sample t-tests. Based on the findings, target practice led to a notable enhancement in shooting proficiency, evidenced by a t-value of -19.621 and a significance value of $0.000 < 0.05$. Similarly, the circuit training method demonstrated a significant positive effect on shooting skills, yielding a t-value of -13.619 with a significance level of $0.000 < 0.05$. In terms of improvement rate, the target practice group achieved an increase of 18.42% , whereas the circuit training cohort recorded a higher advancement of 22.27%. Consequently, these data indicate that circuit training exerts a more substantial impact than target practice on developing the shooting capabilities of male extracurricular futsal players at SMK Negeri 9 Surakarta.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an economical shuttlecock launcher for badminton netting practice. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. Subjects included one expert , 10 students (small-group trial), and 20 athletes from PB Diamond (large-group trial). Data were collected via Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive percentages. The results showed that the device, made of hollow iron and a 12-Volt DC motor, was assembled for Rp1,750,000. In the small-group trial, it scored 416 (83.2%), categorized as "Good". However, in the large-group trial, the score dropped to 768 (76.8%), falling into the "Cukup" (Fair) category. This decline was caused by technical limitations under high-intensity use , such as heat accumulation in the DC motor , a static trajectory , and shuttlecocks jamming in the storage tube. In conclusion, this innovative launcher is feasible for small-scale training , but requires further development, including cooling fans, automatic rotation mechanisms, and tube improvements for mass training.
