Abstract

One of the serious complications that often occurs in leukemia patients undergoing chemotherapy is febrile neutropenia, especially in isolation rooms with weak immune systems. The purpose of this study was to provide an overview of the prevalence of febrile neutropenia and the characteristics of leukemia patients undergoing chemotherapy in the Decreased Immunity Isolation Room at Dharmais Cancer Hospital in Jakarta. Data, collected through a descriptive retrospective study design, were obtained from medical records of patients receiving chemotherapy for leukemia between 2013 and 2014, with a sample size of 71 patients calculated using the Slovin formula. The variables analyzed included gender, age, diagnosis, type of chemotherapy, absolute neutrophil count value, and the incidence and characteristics of febrile neutropenia. The results showed that 83.1% of the total patients experienced febrile neutropenia, with the most frequent occurrence on days 8 to 20 after chemotherapy. Most patients with febrile neutropenia had an absolute neutrophil count value of less than 500 cells/µL, indicating a high risk of infection. The majority of patients received antibiotics for the management of febrile neutropenia, with the most commonly used antibiotics being Meropenem and Ceftazidime. This study can help healthcare providers prevent and manage febrile neutropenia in leukemia patients and provide a basis for further research to develop better interventions.

Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) or Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) results of the 2023 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (SDKI) have been published by the government MMR according to the 2023 SDKI is 359/1000.000 live births. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between maternal of mother age and parity with the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage events in motherhood in the maternity room of Prabumulih City Hospital in 2023. This research uses an Analytical Survey using a Cross Sectional approach. The study population was all women who gave birth in the General Hospital Prabumulih City in 2023, amounting to 2.242 people. The number of sampels in this study was 399 responden.  In the univariate analysis, it was found that 144 respondents had a high risk age (33,6%) and 225 respondents (66,4%) had a low risk age. Mothers at high risk were 74 repondents (21,8%) and mothers at low risk were 265 respondents (78,2%). Bivariat analysis showed that maternal age had a significant relationship with postpartum hemorrhage (p-value 0,000), maternal parity had a significant relationship with postpartum hemorrhage (p-value 0,000). The conclusion from this research is that there is a significant relationship between maternal age and parity and the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage in mothers giving birth in the maternity ward at the Prabumulih City Regional General Hospital in 2023.

Abstract

Pain in the elderly with Rheumatoid Arthritis is a significant health problem, affecting physical, psychological and social quality of life. Non-pharmacological therapies such as back massage and slow breath exercise are considered effective in reducing pain and increasing patient comfort. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a combination of back massage therapy and slow breath exercise in pain management in elderly with Rheumatoid Arthritis. This study used a case study design with two elderly Rheumatoid Arthritis patients who experienced moderate pain. The intervention was carried out for three consecutive days, with a duration of 10-15 minutes per session. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and pain scale measurements using MNEMONIC PQRST. Data analysis was done descriptively. The results showed a significant decrease in the pain scale after the intervention. Client I experienced a decrease in pain from scale 5 (moderate) to scale 1 (mild), while Client II from scale 5 to scale 2 (mild). This combination of therapies proved effective in reducing pain and increasing patient comfort. The combination of back massage therapy and slow breath exercise is effective in reducing pain in the elderly with Rheumatoid Arthritis. This therapy can be recommended as a non-pharmacological intervention that is safe and easy to implement. Family support is needed in the application of this therapy to increase its effectiveness. Further research with a larger sample and longer duration of intervention is needed to corroborate these findings.

Abstract

Posyandu cadres play a vital role in the early detection and intervention of speech delay in toddlers. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of holistic massage training in improving the knowledge and skills of posyandu cadres in managing toddlers with speech delay. This research is an experimental qualitative study employing a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design. The study sample consisted of 30 posyandu cadres from the villages of Muara Lawai, Tanjung Jati, and Lubuk Ampelas. The intervention was delivered in the form of training sessions held three times, each lasting 90 minutes, conducted during August 2024. Instruments used included a knowledge questionnaire and a skills observation checklist, both administered before and after the training. Data analysis using the Paired Sample T-Test showed a significant increase in knowledge from an average of 50.72% to 80.90%, and in skills from 15.50 to 25.50 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that holistic massage training significantly enhances the capacity of posyandu cadres in handling speech delay. The training is recommended as an effective community-based intervention strategy to improve the quality of detection and stimulation of speech development in toddlers.
