Abstract

Inflammation or inflammation is the body's normal response to tissue damage caused by physical trauma, chemical and microbial damage. Plants that are thought to have anti-inflammatory properties are bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum (Wight) Walp). Which acts as an anti-inflammatory in bay leaves and papaya leaves are flavonoids. Bay leaf and papaya leaf extracts were extracted using 70% ethanol by maceration method. The test animals were divided into 7 groups, namely a negative control group (Na CMC), a positive group (Diclofenac Sodium 50 mg), a single dose group of 100 mg/kgBW bay leaf extract, a single dose group of 100 mg/kgBW papaya leaf extract, and a combination group of leaf extracts. salam and papaya leaf extract 50mg/kgBB: 50mg/kgBB, 150mg/kgBB: 100mg/kgBB, 250mg/kgBB: 200mg/kgBB. Treatment 1 hour after the hind legs of rats was induced by subplantar carrageenin. The results showed that the combination of bay leaf and papaya leaf extracts had anti-inflammatory activity. The results of the calculation of the inflammatory power in the combination group showed inflammatory activity.

Abstract

Consumption of drugs together with herbal medicine at the same time can affect its efficacy. Cholesterol can be treated with simvastatin and herbal medicine such as grapefruit (Citrus maxima Merr.) which contains phenols and flavonoids as anticholesterol and furanocoumarins. This study aims to determine whether the consumption of simvastatin and grapefruit together will affect the anticholesterol effect. Male mice of 35 Swiss strains were divided into 7 groups, each consisting of 5 mice. Without treatment, negative control Na-CMC 0.5%, positive control I simvastatin 5.2 mg/kgBW mice, positive control II grapefruit juice 26 mL/kgBW mice, interaction I, II and III simvastatin 5.2 mg/ kgBW of mice and grapefruit juice were 13 mL/kgBW, 19.5 mL/kgBW, and 26 mL/kgBW of mice, respectively. All groups except without treatment were given a high-fat diet consisting of lard, duck egg yolk, and chicken liver and were induced with 0.1% propylthiouracil solution for 28 days before treatment. Total cholesterol levels were measured after 28 days of induction and 35 and 42 days after treatment. The interaction of simvastatin and grapefruit juice can affect the anticholesterol effect in the form of increasing the effect of reducing total cholesterol levels in the blood of mice. The effective interaction dose was the interaction dose I (simvastatin 5.2 mg/kg BW of mice and grapefruit juice 13 mL/kg BW of mice) which had an anticholesterol effect compared to the single dose group of simvastatin and grapefruit juice.

Abstract

Utilization of plants as a treatment for diarrhea is an alternative to traditional medicine. Ambon banana peel is one of the plants that can be used as an antidiarrheal because it contains flavonoid compounds, tannins and saponins. This study aimed to determine the antidiarrheal effect of the ethanol extract of Ambon banana peel on male mice induced by Oleum Ricini and to determine the dose of ethanol extract of Ambon banana peel that gave the best antidiarrheal effect. Ambon banana peel was extracted by maceration method. The research method used was a laboratory experimental study using 25 male mice which were divided into 5 groups, namely the negative control group (given CMC Na 1%), the positive control group (given Loperamide HCl 2 mg), the treatment group with ethanol extract of Ambon banana peel. with varying doses of 300 mg/KgBW, 600 mg/KgBW and 900 mg/KgBW. The antidiarrheal effect was observed every 30 minutes for 4 hours with the parameters used were diarrhea frequency, stool weight and stool consistency. Based on the results of the study, the ethanol extract of Ambon banana peel at a dose of 900 mg/KgBW showed diarrhea frequency and stool weight results which were almost the same as the Loperamide HCl treatment group. The results of statistical analysis using ANOVA obtained p<0.05, this indicates that there is a significant difference. The ethanol extract of Ambon banana peel at a dose of 900 mg/KgBW had the best antidiarrheal effect compared to the ethanolic extract of Ambon banana peel at a dose of 300 mg/KgBW and a dose of 600 mg/KgBW.

Abstract

Aren (Arenga pinnata Merr.) is a biological resource believed to have antioxidant abilities and is easily found throughout Indonesia. It is widely used by the populace, for example in midrib flour as a traditional medicine to relieve itching and scars on the skin. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the palm leaf extract (Arenga pinnata Merr.) could be formulated into cream preparations and was of good quality. The research method used is experimental by formulating the extract into three formulations, namely the extract concentration of 1%, 3%, 5%. Data analysis was performed using qualitative analysis including organoleptic test, homogeneity test, and quantitative analysis including pH test, dispersion test, adhesion test, viscosity and using one-way ANOVA statistics. The results of the analysis showed that there was no significant difference in the concentration of palm midrib cream in pH with a sig value of 0.542 (sig. > 0.05), a dispersion of 0.504 (sig. > 0.05) and a Adhesion of 0.717 (sig. > 0.05) gave > 0.05) and the viscosity meets the standard of good cream viscosity which is between (2000 - 50000 cps). Data analysis of the results showed that the three variations of extracts could be formulated into cream preparations and had quality standards for cream preparations that met the requirements, there was no effect of variations in the concentration of arene (Arenga pinnata Merr.) on the physical quality of cream preparations. The best wording is found in F2 (3%). Further research is expected to modify the formula for preservatives and fragrance additives, create new dosage forms such as lotions.

Abstract

Dissatisfaction with the current body causes women to try to change their appearance by losing weight quickly which results in switching to slimming herbal products that can be trusted to lose weight instantly. With the current progress in the circulation of slimming herbal products, medicinal chemicals (BKO) are added. Slimming herbal products are prohibited from containing medicinal chemicals. Sibutramine Hydrochloride is one of the BKOs found in slimming herbs because Sibutramine HCl is a hard drug that works by inhibiting norepinephrine, serotonin and dopamine, which can suppress appetite so it can be used to lose weight. The study was conducted to identify the compound Sibutramine Hydrochloride in slimming herbs circulating in Tanah Grogot. The method used is pre-experimental with one shot case study. Sampling was done by purvosive sampling technique. The sample from the study was 10 slimming herbs circulating in Tanah Grogot. The results of the TLC method identified 10 samples, only 1 sample was positive for Sibutramine HCl because it had the same Rf value as the comparison standard, which was 0.95. The UV-Vis Spectrophotometry method obtained the sample results showing the levels of Sibutramine HCl exceeding the dose of 15mg with the sample content containing % Sibutramine HCl content, namely S4 0.59%. The results of this study are that there are slimming herbs with a BPOM permit that contain the medicinal chemical Sibutramine HCl.
