Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a dangerous infectious disease that causes many deaths, and control needs to be carried out so that TB transmission and mortality rates can decrease. The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on TB elimination targets, so that targets have slowed, stopped or retreated. One of the efforts made to improve again is to carry out External Quality Control (PME) by the UPTD health laboratory of the Health Office to supervise that the quality of laboratory examinations in health facilities produces accurate and thorough examinations, therefore the Human Resources (HR) factor needs to be considered to obtain quality examination results. This study aims to determine the effect of human resources on the quality of BTA preparations in health facilities in Cilacap Regency in 2022. This study was conducted by analyzing the value of PME results on the quality of BTA preparations in 2022 with the results of questionnaire observation scores regarding human resources for 30 respondents in health facilities in Cilacap Regency who were randomly selected. Pearson correlation statistical test was used, resulting in a significant relationship between human resources and the quality of BTA preparations in health facilities in Cilacap Regency in 2022 with a value of 0.008 <0.05. The quality of specimens, size and thickness of the preparation have many discrepancies in the manufacture of BTA preparations in health facilities, training needs to be carried out routinely to control the quality of BTA preparations.

Abstract

Background: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common disease found in the world. Gold standard for the diagnosis of UTI is urine culture, but this examination has the disadvantage of taking longer results. As a screening test, urine dipstick and urine flowcytometry provide more rapid diagnosis of UTI. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the results of the dipstick test and UF4000 with urine culture.  Materials and Methods: This study used an analytic observational method with a cross sectional approach, with accidental sampling. The samples obtained was 38 samples from patients at the Clinical Laboratory of Prodia Diponegoro and Prodia SDP. Results: The results showed that there was 84.2% concordance between leukocyte esterase results and culture results, and 31.6% concordance between nitrite results and culture results, 97.4 5% concordance between urine flowcytometry results and urine culture results. Conclusions: Based on the Chi square statistical, it was concluded that there were relationship between Urine culture and leukocyte esterase (p-value 0.000), nitrite (p-value 0.004, urine flowcytometri (p-value 0.000). Both of these screening tests can be used to help diagnose UTI, but the gold standard for UTI still uses urine culture result.

Abstract

Background: Worm infections can occur in humans throughout the world regardless of age and attack children's health. This statement encouraged researchers to do this in Tengket Village, where most guardians ignore their children's PBHS and latrines in rivers around residents' houses cause worm infections. More than 1.5billion people, or 24% of the world's population, are infected with soil-borne worms. That are transmitted through the soil are also called nematodes of the STH class. Objectives: The study aimed to identify STH intestinal nematode eggs in children in Tengket Village, Arosbaya, Bangkalan.  Materials and Methods:  The method used is flotation using NaCl reagent with the principle of different specific gravity so the parasites in the feces will be floated on the surface. The floatation method is able to produce a clean field of view and an easy procedure, thereby minimizing false positives and false negatives. Results: The research was carried out in February 2023 and the results obtained were that 9 out of 30 children's feces samples tested positive for worms. The positive results in the samples could be due to river latrines still being used and the spread occurring due to lack of attention to PHBS. Conclusions: Based on the research results, the percentage of worms has increased.

Abstract

Background: Ascaris lumbricoides is the causative agent of a helminthic diseases known as ascariasis. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), helminthic diseases constitute more than half of the health issues in developing countries. It is caused by poor sanitation and a tropical climate that supports the development of worms. Transmission of worm eggs to humans can be through vegetables that grow near the ground, one of them is cauliflower. Objectives: The study aimed to identify the presence of Ascaris lumbricoides eggs in cauliflower sold at Krembung Market, Sidoarjo Regency. Materials and Methods: The method used is sedimentation using 0,2% NaOH reagent with the principle of centrifugal force which results in the separation of worm eggs and supernatant. This method can precipitate eggs without damaging them, making it easier to identify the type of worm eggs. Results: The research was carried out in April 2023 and the results showed that from the 12 samples sold on mats, there were 2 samples (17%) contaminated with infertile Ascaris lumbricoides eggs. Meanwhile, from 12 samples sold on table, no Ascaris lumbricoides eggs (0%) were found. Conclusions: Based on the research results, Ascaris lumbricoides eggs were found in 2 out of 12 samples of cauliflower sold on mats.
